Cherington is a village and civil parish beside the River Stour about 3 miles (5 km) southeast of Shipston-on-Stour. Cherington is contiguous with the village of Stourton.

Sutton-under-Brailes is a village and civil parish 17 miles (27 km) south of Warwick, in the Stratford-on-Avon district of Warwickshire, England. Adjacent parishes are Barcheston, Brailes, Cherington, Stourton and Whichford. In 2001 the parish had a population of 89.

Barcheston is a village and civil parish in the Stratford-on-Avon district of Warwickshire, England. The village is on the east bank of the River Stour, opposite Shipston-on-Stour. It shares a parish council with Willington. The parish, administered at its lowest level by the Barcheston and Willington Parish Meeting, is in the Ettington ward of the district council. According to the 2001 Census the parishes population was 134, increasing to 141 at the 2011 Census.Ralph Ardern inherited the manor of Barcheston between 1382 (the death of his father, Henry de Ardern) and 1408 (the death of his mother). Whether or not he was ever resident is unknown. The first English tapestry factory was the Sheldon looms, established here in Warwickshire by William Sheldon about the middle of the 16th century. The Sheldon tapestries produced here compare well with the finest contemporary Flemish weavings. Some of these consisted of large tapestry maps of English counties. Burmington is a village and civil parish in Warwickshire, England. It is 2 miles (3 km) south of Shipston-on-Stour. The population at the 2001 Census was 127, increasing to 164 at the 2011 Census.

The Chipping Norton Limestone is a geological formation in the Cotswolds, England. It preserves fossils dating back to the Bathonian (Middle Jurassic). Including those of dinosaurs Cetiosaurus, Megalosaurus and Cruxicheiros as well as the Tritylodontid Stereognathus. It primarily consists of ooidal limestone.

Shipston on Stour was a rural district in England from 1894 to 1974. [1] The district covered an area around Shipston-on-Stour. Originally it was a detached part of Worcestershire, but in 1931 it was transferred to the jurisdiction of Warwickshire, and was expanded by the abolition of Brailes Rural District. The district was abolished in 1974 under the Local Government Act 1972 and now forms part of the Stratford-on-Avon district.

The administrative boundaries of Worcestershire, England have been fluid for over 150 years since the first major changes in 1844. There were many detached parts of Worcestershire in the surrounding counties, and conversely there were islands of other counties within Worcestershire. The 1844 Counties (Detached Parts) Act began the process of eliminating these, but the process was not completed until 1966, when Dudley was absorbed into Staffordshire. The expansion of Birmingham and the Black Country during and after the Industrial Revolution also altered the county map considerably. Local government commissions were set up to recommend changes to the local government structures, and as early as 1945 recommendations were made to merge Worcestershire with Herefordshire. Eventually in 1974, a form of this recommendation was carried out, most of Worcestershire was combined with Herefordshire to form a new county named Hereford and Worcester, while the northern Black Country towns and villages of Worcestershire, along with adjoining areas of Staffordshire and Warwickshire, formed the new administrative county of West Midlands. Hereford & Worcester was re-divided into the separate counties of Herefordshire and Worcestershire in 1998. Since that time Worcestershire's boundaries have not changed. Redditch opted to join the West Midlands Combined Authority as an associate 'non-constituent' member in October 2015, although this will not affect the borough's status within Worcestershire.

Whichford House is a grade II* listed house situated in the Cotswolds, on the Oxfordshire / Warwickshire border in the sought after village of Whichford. The house is regarded as the finest rectory in the Cotswolds.Dating from the medieval times, Whichford House was the Rectory until 1954. Architecturally the house evolved through the medieval period and 17th and 18th centuries. During the English Civil War, the house was damaged by the Roundheads after the incumbent recruit preached against Cromwell. The house was repaired, enlarged and given high status during the 17th century. A date stone over the west doorway bears the date 1662. The classical frontage of the house was commenced in 1740 but not completed until 2006 with the addition of the West Wing. Of particular note are the fireplaces, the principal Georgian stairwell and the wood paneling int he principal rooms. In the medieval dining room, above the inglenook, is a Schist carving which dates from the time of Christ and originates from west India. In the 1950s, it ceased to be used as the Rectory, and the Church of England sold it to the publisher George Rainbird, for £1,400. In the 1980s, it was sold to Major and High Sheriff of Warwickshire (1996) John Waddington Oakes and his wife, who lived there with their family, including sons Nigel Oakes and Alexander Waddington Oakes, and added a tennis court, swimming pool and a coach house at the entrance gate.The property includes five acres of gardens and a 70 acre farm.

Long Compton is a village and civil parish in Warwickshire, England near the extreme southern tip of Warwickshire, and close to the border with Oxfordshire. It is part of the district of Stratford-on-Avon; in the 2001 census had a population of 705, increasing to 764 at the 2011 Census.The village is in the Cotswolds. It is served by the A3400 (formerly the A34) from Oxford to Stratford-upon-Avon. As the name implies, it is a long village. In the centre is the large church of St Peter and St Paul, which dates from the 13th century. The parish contains Weston Park, within which was the depopulated settlement of Weston-by-Cherington. About one mile south of Long Compton are the Rollright Stones, a neolithic monument.

Little Wolford is a hamlet and civil parish in the Stratford-on-Avon district of Warwickshire, England. With the neighbouring parish of Great Wolford it is part of 'The Wolfords'. Little Wolford is significant for its Grade II* listed 15th- to 16th-century Little Wolford Manor.

Whichford is a village and civil parish in Warwickshire, England, about 5 miles (8 km) southeast of Shipston-on-Stour. The parish adjoins the county boundary with Oxfordshire and the village is about 4+1⁄2 miles (7 km) north of the Oxfordshire town of Chipping Norton. The parish includes the hamlet of Ascott, about 1⁄2 mile (800 m) east of Whichford village. The 2011 Census recorded the parish's population as 336.

Brailes is a civil parish about 3 miles (5 km) east of Shipston-on-Stour in Warwickshire, England. It includes the two villages of Lower and Upper Brailes but is often referred to as one village as the two adjoin each other. The parish includes the village of Winderton about 1.5 miles (2.4 km) northeast of Brailes, and the deserted medieval village of Chelmscote about 3.5 miles (5.6 km) north of Brailes. The parish is bounded to the east by Ditchedge Lane and Beggars' Lane, which are a historic ridgeway that also forms part of the county boundary with Oxfordshire. The northeastern boundary is a minor road, part of which follows the course of a Roman road. The River Stour forms part of the southern boundary, and another part is formed by Sutton Brook, a tributary of the Stour. To the west, north and the remainder of the south the parish is bounded by field boundaries. Brailes is surrounded by hills. Upper Brailes is on the side of Brailes Hill, which at 761 feet (232 m) high is the fourth-highest point in Warwickshire. The east side of the village is bordered by Mine Hill, which is over 620 feet (190 m) high and is topped by a television mast, and Holloway Hill, up which the B4035 road runs towards Banbury. Between Holloway Hill and the Oxfordshire Boundary, the B4035 passes near the top of Gallow Hill, which is 679 feet (207 m) high.
