Dangan Castle

Rathmolyon (; Irish: Ráth Moliain, meaning 'ringfort of the plain of St. Liadhain') is a village in the southern portion of County Meath, Ireland, situated 8 km south of Trim. It is situated at the junction of the R156 regional road and the R159 regional road connecting Trim to Enfield. Rathmolyon serves as a service centre for the surrounding rural area. The village is in a townland and civil parish of the same name.

Summerhill Gaelic Football Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the village of Summerhill in County Meath, Ireland. The team was first founded in 1905 but later disbanded. The current club was founded in 1931, and has since won 8 Meath Senior Football Championships. Summerhill is one of three Meath teams to have won the Leinster Senior Club Football Championship.

Summerhill (Irish: Cnoc an Línsigh) is a heritage village in County Meath, Ireland. It is located in the south of the county, between Trim and Kilcock on the R158 and west of Dunboyne on the R156. It is the site of one of the most important battles in 17th century Ireland, the Battle of Dungan's Hill. Up until 1667, the village was known in English as 'The Knock' or 'Lynchs' Knock' (phonetic renderings of Cnoc an Línsigh) as it was the ancestral home of the Norman-Irish Lynch family, whence came the Galway merchant family of the same name - one of the "Tribes of Galway". However, in about 1667, it was renamed Summerhill by the Langfords, the landed gentry, builders of Summerhill House and planners of the village as it is today. The ruins of the large Lynch castle can be seen in the village today while, apart from the village layout, only the demesne walls and entrance pillars of Summerhill House still stand.

Summerhill House was a 100-roomed Palladian house in County Meath, Ireland which was the ancestral seat of the Viscounts Langford and the Barons Langford. Built in 1731, it was likely designed by Sir Edward Lovett Pearce and completed by Richard Cassels in the Palladian style, although Sir John Vanbrugh, who was related to Pearce and with whom he trained, is thought to have also influenced the design of the house, which could be seen by the Baroque details, great arched chimney stacks and the palatial grandeur and scale. The house demonstrated the power and wealth the Langford Rowley family had at the time. They owned vast amounts of land in counties Meath, Westmeath, Cork, Londonderry, Antrim, and Dublin as well as in Devon and Cornwall in England. The house also welcomed royalty, and ranked architecturally amongst the finest and most modern mansions in Europe. The house was largely destroyed by fire in 1921 in the Irish War of Independence, and the remnants were eventually demolished some decades later. Desmond FitzGerald, 29th Knight of Glin and president of the Irish Georgian Society, described its loss as "probably the greatest tragedy in the history of Irish domestic architecture".

Laracor, in Irish Láithreach Cora, is a civil parish which is located in County Meath in Ireland, south of Trim. It overlaps with the electoral division of the same name. The civil parish consists of the 21 townlands of Adamstown, Ballinrig, Brownstown, Clondoogan, Clonmahon, Cnoc an Línsigh (Summerhill), An Daingean (Dangan), Fearann Eoin Baiste (Saintjohns), Freffans Great, Freffans Little, Ifferknock, Knightsbrook, the eponymous Láithreach Cora (Laracor), Maigh (Moy), Readstown, Springvalley, Stokestown, Summerhill Demesne, Summerstown, Umberstone Great, and Umberstown Little. Main roads are the R158 traversing the parish area lengthwise, the R159 joining the former in the north of the parish, and the R156 crossing the R158 in Summerhill village, the largest settlement in the parish area. Jonathan Swift lived at Laracor from 1700 to 1713 as a church minister. His friend Richard Tenison, Bishop of Meath, had been Vicar of Laracor in the 1670s. The ruins of Dangan Castle, the childhood home of Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington, are situated in Dangan townland north of Summerhill village.

Knightsbrook is a village and townland in County Meath, Ireland. It is located on the R158 road, close to the junction with the R159. to the south of Trim. The town is located in the civil parish of Laracor. Knightsbrook Hotel and Golf Club stands to the north, and the Knightsbrook River flows through the south of the townland.

The Knightsbrook River is a river in County Meath, Ireland. The river rises near Summerhill, and flows north past the R156, and later the R158 and R159 roads, through Knightsbrook, and merges into the River Boyne a few kilometres to the east of Trim.

The Porch Fields is an area of medieval farmland outside Trim, Ireland with a medieval roadway that forms a National Monument.

Trim Castle (Irish: Caisleán Bhaile Átha Troim) is a castle on the south bank of the River Boyne in Trim, County Meath, Ireland, with an area of 30,000 m2. Over a period of 30 years, it was built by Hugh de Lacy and his son Walter as the caput of the Lordship of Meath. The Irish Government currently own and are in charge of the care of the castle, through the state agency The Office of Public Works (OPW). The castle is on the List of National Monuments in County Meath.

Trim is a town in County Meath, Ireland. It is situated on the River Boyne and, as of the 2022 census, had a population of 9,563. The town is in a civil parish of the same name. The town is noted for Trim Castle – the largest Norman castle in Ireland. One of the two cathedrals of the Church of Ireland United Dioceses of Meath and Kildare – St Patrick's cathedral – is located north of the river. Trim won the Irish Tidy Towns Competition in 1972, 1984, 2014 and 2022, and was the joint winner with Ballyconnell in 1974. Trim was historically the county town of Meath, but this title was passed on in 1898 to the larger, neighbouring town of Navan.

St Loman's Park (Irish: Páirc Naomh Lómáin), in Trim, Ireland, is a stadium which is home to Trim GAA and is traditionally known as the home of Meath Hurling. The grounds are at the western end of the town, situated on the Newhaggard Road. St Loman's hosted the Meath Senior Hurling Championship final up until 2007, when the main pitch and clubhouse were closed for redevelopment. It also plays host to inter-county hurling games, with Leinster Senior Hurling Championship, Christy Ring Cup, All-Ireland Senior B Hurling Championship, National Hurling League, Walsh Cup and Kehoe Cup games having been held there. Meath inter-county football games and County Senior Finals have been played in Trim, though less often.

Trim GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Trim, in County Meath, Ireland. The club fields Gaelic football, hurling teams, Camogie teams and Peil na mBan (Ladies' Gaelic football) teams. It competes in Meath GAA competitions. Trim is known as the home of hurling in Meath and the Meath Senior Hurling Championship final was held there each year until the redevelopment of its facilities meant it was moved to Pairc Tailteann.
