Trim, County Meath

Trim Castle (Irish: Caisleán Bhaile Átha Troim) is a castle on the south bank of the River Boyne in Trim, County Meath, Ireland, with an area of 30,000 m2. Over a period of 30 years, it was built by Hugh de Lacy and his son Walter as the caput of the Lordship of Meath. The Irish Government currently own and are in charge of the care of the castle, through the state agency The Office of Public Works (OPW). The castle is on the List of National Monuments in County Meath.

The Cathedral Church of St Patrick, Trim is a cathedral of the Church of Ireland in Trim, County Meath, Ireland. Previously the cathedral of the Diocese of Meath, it is now one of two cathedrals in the United Dioceses of Meath and Kildare which is part of the ecclesiastical province of Dublin.

St. Mary's Abbey in Trim, County Meath, Ireland is a former house of Augustinian canons dedicated to the Blessed Virgin. The abbey was situated on the north bank of the River Boyne, opposite Trim Castle, on land given to St. Patrick who is often credited with founding the abbey. The abbey was a prominent pilgrimage site, famous for the healing power of its statue of the Virgin Mary, until its dissolution under Henry VIII during the Reformation. Little remains of the abbey except for the Yellow Steeple, the ruin of the abbey bell tower named for the yellow color reflected by the stonework in the setting sun, and Talbot's Castle, an abbey building converted to a manor house.

St Loman's Park (Irish: Páirc Naomh Lómáin), in Trim, Ireland, is a stadium which is home to Trim GAA and is traditionally known as the home of Meath Hurling. The grounds are at the western end of the town, situated on the Newhaggard Road. St Loman's hosted the Meath Senior Hurling Championship final up until 2007, when the main pitch and clubhouse were closed for redevelopment. It also plays host to inter-county hurling games, with Leinster Senior Hurling Championship, Christy Ring Cup, All-Ireland Senior B Hurling Championship, National Hurling League, Walsh Cup and Kehoe Cup games having been held there. Meath inter-county football games and County Senior Finals have been played in Trim, though less often.

Trim GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Trim, in County Meath, Ireland. The club fields Gaelic football, hurling teams, Camogie teams and Peil na mBan (Ladies' Gaelic football) teams. It competes in Meath GAA competitions. Trim is known as the home of hurling in Meath and the Meath Senior Hurling Championship final was held there each year until the redevelopment of its facilities meant it was moved to Pairc Tailteann.

Knightsbrook is a village and townland in County Meath, Ireland. It is located on the R158 road, close to the junction with the R159. to the south of Trim. The town is located in the civil parish of Laracor. Knightsbrook Hotel and Golf Club stands to the north, and the Knightsbrook River flows through the south of the townland.

Laracor, in Irish Láithreach Cora, is a civil parish which is located in County Meath in Ireland, south of Trim. It overlaps with the electoral division of the same name. The civil parish consists of the 21 townlands of Adamstown, Ballinrig, Brownstown, Clondoogan, Clonmahon, Cnoc an Línsigh (Summerhill), An Daingean (Dangan), Fearann Eoin Baiste (Saintjohns), Freffans Great, Freffans Little, Ifferknock, Knightsbrook, the eponymous Láithreach Cora (Laracor), Maigh (Moy), Readstown, Springvalley, Stokestown, Summerhill Demesne, Summerstown, Umberstone Great, and Umberstown Little. Main roads are the R158 traversing the parish area lengthwise, the R159 joining the former in the north of the parish, and the R156 crossing the R158 in Summerhill village, the largest settlement in the parish area. Jonathan Swift lived at Laracor from 1700 to 1713 as a church minister. His friend Richard Tenison, Bishop of Meath, had been Vicar of Laracor in the 1670s. The ruins of Dangan Castle, the childhood home of Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington, are situated in Dangan townland north of Summerhill village.

The Knightsbrook River is a river in County Meath, Ireland. The river rises near Summerhill, and flows north past the R156, and later the R158 and R159 roads, through Knightsbrook, and merges into the River Boyne a few kilometres to the east of Trim.

Dangan Castle is a former stately home in County Meath, Ireland, which is now in a state of ruin. It is situated by Dangan Church on the Trim Road. The castle is the former seat of the Wesley (Wellesley) family and is located outside the village of Summerhill. It was the childhood home of Field Marshal The 1st Duke of Wellington.
