Short Beach (New York)

Meadow Island is an island situated in Nassau County, New York, off the southern shore of Long Island.

Jones Inlet is located at the westernmost end of the 17-mile (27 km) long Jones Beach barrier island that runs along Long Island's south shore. The inlet separates Jones Beach State Park's West End from the community of Point Lookout and connects South Oyster Bay with the Atlantic Ocean. In 2006, the inlet handled approximately 10,000 tons of commercial tonnage.Shifting sand bars and shallow waters have made the inlet treacherous for boaters to navigate, which prompted New York State to allocate $7.6 million of funding for the United States Army Corps of Engineers to dredge the inlet in 2008. In addition to improving navigational safety for vessels, the sand dredged from the inlet was pumped onto the Point Lookout shoreline to help mitigate the effects of beach erosion. The inlet was previously dredged in 1995-1996. It was also dredged in 2014 and 2022. The United States Coast Guard Station Jones Beach is located near the east side of the inlet on Jones Beach Island.

Point Lookout is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) located in the town of Hempstead in Nassau County, New York, United States. The population was 1,527 at the time of the 2020 census. The town is mostly made up of residential homes, with several small businesses on Lido Boulevard. The town is surrounded on three sides by water. Today, Point Lookout has become a popular location for summer residences. Among its inhabitants, it is commonly referred to as "PLO".

The Bethpage Air Show is an annual American air show held each May on Memorial Day weekend. It is staged in the airspace above and off the coast of the Jones Beach State Park in Wantagh, New York, located on Long Island.The air show is typically headlined by either the United States Navy Blue Angels or United States Air Force Thunderbirds. Due to cuts to the military budget, neither team appeared at the 2013 show, but the Blue Angels appeared at the 2014 show. All branches of the military are represented at the show. The 2020 was cancelled, due to the global COVID-19 pandemic.

Jones Beach State Park (colloquially "Jones Beach") is a state park in the U.S. state of New York. It is located in southern Nassau County on Jones Beach Island, a barrier island linked to Long Island by the Meadowbrook State Parkway, Wantagh State Parkway, and Ocean Parkway. The park was created during Robert Moses' administration as President of the Long Island State Park Commission as part of the development of parkways on Long Island.The park, 6.5 miles (10.5 km) in length, is renowned for its beaches (which, excepting the beach on Zachs Bay, face the open Atlantic Ocean) and furnishes one of the most popular summer recreational locations for the New York metropolitan area. It is the most popular and heavily visited beach on the East Coast, with an estimated six million visitors per year.Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater, an outdoor arena in the park, is a popular musical and concert venue. The park also includes a two-mile (3.2 km) boardwalk. It once featured dining and catering facilities that were popular sites for private parties and weddings, though these have been shut down.Jones Beach is named after Major Thomas Jones, a major in the Queens County militia in the 17th century, who established a whaling station on the outer beach near the site of the present park.

Jones Beach Theater is an outdoor amphitheatre at Jones Beach State Park in Wantagh, New York. It is one of two major outdoor arenas in the New York metropolitan area, along with PNC Bank Arts Center near the Jersey Shore. Both venues are managed by Live Nation. The theater was designed to specifications provided by Robert Moses, who created Jones Beach State Park.

Norman Levy Park and Preserve is a man-made park on the South Shore of Long Island in Merrick, New York. The park is situated on a hill formerly part of a landfill and has excellent views of the Manhattan skyline and Long Island.

WGBB (1240 AM) is a radio station licensed to Freeport, New York and serving Nassau County, New York. Founded in 1924, it is Long Island's oldest radio station.WGBB broadcasts the Chinese–language "Chinese Radio Network" and various English and Spanish language religious and ethnic brokered programming. The studio is located in Merrick, New York and its transmitter site is located in Freeport, former location of the studio.

Baldwin Harbor is a hamlet and former census-designated place (CDP) in the Town of Hempstead, in Nassau County, on Long Island, in New York, United States. It was created concomitant with the 1990 United States Census from the southernmost portions of the neighboring hamlet of Baldwin. As of the 2010 census, it had a population of 8,102.
