Michalovce District (okres Michalovce) is a district in the Košice Region of eastern Slovakia. Until 1918, the district was split between the county of Kingdom of Hungary of Zemplín (in the west) and Uh (in the east).

Michalovce (; Hungarian: Nagymihály, German: Großmichel, Romani: Mihalya, Yiddish: Mikhaylovets or Mykhaylovyts; Ukrainian: Михайлівці) is a town on the Laborec river in eastern Slovakia. Originally named after the Archangel St Michael, it is the second-largest city in the Košice Region and the seat of the Michalovce District. The city is located on the shore of Lake Sirava, approximately 360 kilometres (224 miles) east of the capital Bratislava and immediately adjacent to the border with Ukraine. Michalovce is mostly recognized for its adjacent lakes and volcanic mountains, which generates tourism, and for agriculture as well as the passing Druzhba pipeline. According to the latest census, the population of the town stood at 40,255, with a metropolitan population of 109,121, which ranks it among the largest population centers in eastern Slovakia.

Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Slovak: Rímskokatolícky farský kostol Narodenia Panny Márie) is a historic Marian cathedral of the Catholic Church in the old square in the city of Michalovce in the Kosice Region in eastern Slovakia. Finished in the late 13th century it is the oldest church in Michalovce. Originally designed as a Gothic church, it was restored in the 18th century to Baroque style. It is widely considered to be one of Slovakia's finest examples of medieval church architecture and among the most well-known church buildings in the country and is considered a national landmark in Slovakia.

Zemplin Stadion is a multi-use stadium in Michalovce, Slovakia. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of MFK Zemplín Michalovce. The stadium holds 4,400 people. The intensity of the floodlighting is 1,200 lux.
