The canton of Pessac-1 is an administrative division of the Gironde department, southwestern France. It was created in 1982. Its borders were modified at the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015. Its seat is in Pessac.It consists of the following communes: Canéjan Cestas Pessac (partly)

France Alouette tram stop is the terminus of the Pessac Alouette branch of line B of the Bordeaux tramway, and is located in the commune of Pessac. The stop was inaugurated in April 2015, when a second branch of line B was opened from Bougnard to France Alouette. The stop is operated by Transports Bordeaux Métropole.For most of the day on Mondays to Fridays, trams run at least every ten minutes between France Alouette and Bordeaux city centre. Gare Pessac Alouette tram stop is a tram stop on the Pessac Alouette branch of line B of the Bordeaux tramway, and is located in the commune of Pessac. The Cité Frugès de Pessac (the Frugès Estate of Pessac), or Les Quartiers Modernes Frugès (the modern Frugès quarters), is a housing development located in Pessac, a suburb of Bordeaux, France. It was commissioned by the industrialist Henri Frugès in 1924 as worker housing and designed by architects Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret, who were responsible for the development's masterplan and individual buildings. It was intended as a testing ground for the ideas Le Corbusier had expressed in his 1922 manifesto Vers une Architecture and was his first attempt designing low-cost, mass-produced collective housing in his trademark aesthetic. Drawings of some of the buildings were subsequently included in the second edition of the text.The Cité was planned to contain 135 housing units in four sections, but only two sections (consisting of 51 units) were realized due to financial difficulties. By the time they were completed, the houses were three to four times more expensive than envisioned and about twice as expensive as comparable houses on the market. The workers refused to move in, forcing Frugès to sell the individual houses in the same year after a failed attempt to sell the entire estate. Over the next decades, the houses were heavily modified by their inhabitants, including the addition of pitched roofs and decoration, the resizing of windows, and the enclosure of patios.On December 18, 1980, No. 3 Rue des Arcades was listed as a French monument historique. The whole complex was subsequently designated a French Zone de Protection du Patrimoine Architectural Urbain (an Urban Architectural Heritage Protection Zone). In 2016, the district was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of The Architectural Work of Le Corbusier, along with 16 other projects.

Château Pape Clément is a Bordeaux wine from the Pessac-Léognan appellation, ranked among the Crus Classés for red wine in the Classification of Graves wine of 1959. It is the oldest wine estate in Bordeaux, harvesting its 700th vintage in 2006. The winery and vineyards are located in the commune of Pessac, south-west of the city of Bordeaux. When the estate was omitted from the initial Graves classification of 1953 it caused some controversy.

The stop is located on Aavenue Bougnard in the commune of Pessac and is operated by Transports Bordeaux Métropole.To the west of Bougnard, line B divides into two branches, one running north to Pessac Centre and the other west to France Alouette. For most of the day on Mondays to Fridays, trams run at least every five minutes between the city centre and Bougnard, with services every ten minutes on the two branches. Services run less frequently in the early morning, late evenings, weekends and public holidays.

Pessac Centre tram stop is the terminus of the Pessac Centre branch of line B of the Bordeaux tramway, and is located on Avenue Eugène et Marc Dulout in the centre of the commune of Pessac. The tram stop is adjacent to Pessac railway station, with direct access between station and tram stop platforms, and the Mairie de Pessac.The stop was inaugurated 29 May 2007, when line B was extended from Bougnard. It remained the sole terminus at the southern end of line B until April 2015, when a second branch was opened from Bougnard to France Alouette. Pessac is a railway station in Pessac, a western suburb of Bordeaux, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France. The station is located on the Bordeaux–Irun railway line. The station is served by TER (local) services operated by SNCF. The Pessac Centre tram stop of the Bordeaux tramway is adjacent to the railway station, with direct access between station and tram stop platforms.

Les Afriques dans le monde (LAM) is a French academic research institute in Pessac, France focusing on Africa and its diaspora. It is a collaboration of the national reseach organisation CNRS (Centre national de la recherche scientifique) and three local universities: the Political science institute of the University of Bordeaux, the Bordeaux Montaigne University) and the University of Pau and the Adour Region. LAM was founded in 2011 by merging the Centre d’étude d’Afrique noire (CEAN, University of Bordeaux) and the Centre d’étude et de recherche sur les pays de l’Afrique orientale (CREPAO, University of Pau and the Adour Region) with other researchers joining. The research field of LAM is the "Africas": Sub-Saharan Africa, North Africa and by extension the African diaspora in the Middle East and transatlantic regions, mainly the Caribbean. In 2022 LAM had 26 researchers, fifty-odd PhD students and some 100 associated researchers. Since 2021 it is headed by David Ambrosetti.

Pessac (French pronunciation: [pɛsak] (listen); Occitan: Peçac) is a commune in the Gironde department in Nouvelle-Aquitaine in southwestern France. It is a member of the metropolis of Bordeaux, being the second-largest suburb of Bordeaux and located just southwest of it. Pessac is also home to Bordeaux Montaigne University and the Institut d'études politiques de Bordeaux.
