Little Thakeham

Heath Common is a settlement in the Horsham District of West Sussex, England. It lies on the Storrington to Ashington road 1.5 miles (2.4 km) east of Storrington.

Thakeham is a village and civil parish located north of the South Downs in the Horsham District of West Sussex, England. The village is situated approximately 12 miles south-west of Horsham and 11 miles north of the sea-side town of Worthing. Its nearest large village is Storrington (3 miles). The parish includes the hamlets of Abingworth and Goose Green and has a land area of 1170.6 hectares (2891 acres).

Rydon Community College was a maintained comprehensive middle-deemed-secondary school for pupils aged 10 to 13. The school was located just outside Storrington, West Sussex, England, in the village of Sullington. It was one of only 7 schools of its type in the United Kingdom, and had around 400 pupils. Rydon had specialisms in Science College and Business and Enterprise College . All subjects were taught to Year 6 pupils and above as secondary pupils. The school permanently closed in July 2017.

Warminghurst is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Thakeham, in the Horsham district of West Sussex, England. It lies on the Ashington to Heath Common road 2.4 miles (3.9 km) northeast of Storrington. In 1931 the parish had a population of 93. On 1 April 1933 the parish was abolished and merged with Ashington.The Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Warminghurst's Anglican church, was declared redundant in 1979. The Grade I-listed 13th-century building is now cared for by the Churches Conservation Trust.In 1676 Henry Bigland sold Warminghurst Manor to William Penn. Using this house, the Penn family were able to hold secret monthly meetings for Quakers from the local Horsham district and when Penn left England in 1682 for his first visit to America, he had many of these local Quakers join him. In 1707 he sold the house to James Butler who had it demolished and then erected another on the site, which was then subsequently demolished by the Duke of Norfolk in 1806. The large barn and farm buildings which survive today behind Park Lane likely do not date from Penn's house but from the early 18th century mansion of James Butler.

The Church of the Holy Sepulchre is a former Anglican church in the hamlet of Warminghurst in the district of Horsham, one of seven local government districts in the English county of West Sussex. The present building, which is no longer used for worship, has 13th-century origins, but a church may have existed on the site in the 11th century or earlier. Often administered in connection with other churches in the rural area of West Sussex in which it was built–churches at nearby Steyning, Ashington and Thakeham were all involved with it at various times–its congregations declined and closure came first in the 1920s and then for good in 1979, when it was declared redundant. Unlike many ancient churches in Sussex, it was not subject to restoration in the mid-19th century: its interior has been called "the finest example in Sussex of how many must have looked before the Victorian restorers". After a period in which the Early English Gothic stone-built church fell into dereliction, prompting one Sussex historian to lament its "unloved" appearance, it was taken into the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. English Heritage has listed the church at Grade I for its architectural and historical importance.

Sullington Warren is a 24.7-hectare (61-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Storrington in West Sussex. The site includes several tumuli which are Scheduled Monuments.It is owned by the National Trust. The National Trust initially purchased 28 acres of land in 1935, with funds raised via a public subscription. Chanctonbury District Council acquired the remaining 35 acres in 1959. Their successor, Horsham District Council, gifted the 35 acres to the National Trust in 1985.Most of this site is dry heath, but there are also areas of wet heath, scrub, bracken, woodland and grassland. Fauna include adders, lizards and insects such as the Sulligton Crane fly. Flora on the wet heath includes hare's-tail cottongrass and the insectivorous round-leaved sundew. Woodland birds include all three British species of woodpecker, treecreepers, long-tailed tits, nuthatches, nightingales and kestrels.Located on site are the remains of a 19th-century windmill on the south side of the Warren. The windmill was destroyed by a fire in 1911.There is access to the site from Water Lane.

Chantry Mill is a 8.7-hectare (21-acre) geological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Storrington in West Sussex. It is a Geological Conservation Review site.This site provides the best exposure of the junction between the Gault and Folkestone Beds of the Wealden Group, dating to around 140 million years ago in the Early Cretaceous.A public footpath runs along the south-western edge of the site.

Sullington is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Storrington and Sullington, in the Horsham district of West Sussex, England. The village lies on the A283 road west of the A24 road, 20 miles (32 km) south of Horsham. In 1961 the parish had a population of 1354. On 1 April 2003 the parish was abolished and merged with Storrington to form "Storrington & Sullington".St Mary's Parish Church nave dates back to Saxon times: the chancel and tower are from the 13th century and the church was restored in 1873. The patronage of the parish rested with the lord of the manor of Sullington until 1938, when Evelyn Palmer (Lady Caldecott) passed it to the Diocese of Chichester. The Victorian rectory (built c1845) was sold off as a private residence and later occupied by the writer A J Cronin and the politician Lady Cynthia Asquith. The modern rectory is on Washington Road.Sullington Manor, on Sullington Lane, is a Grade II listed former farmhouse. The manor was held by the Shelley family from the dissolution of the monasteries (1546) until 1789, when it was sold to George Wyndham, 3rd Earl of Egremont.A feature is Sullington Warren, which is a woodland area popular among visitors to Sullington.

Storrington is an electoral division of West Sussex in the United Kingdom and returns one member to West Sussex County Council.

Arundel and South Downs () is a constituency in West Sussex created in 1997 and represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2019 by Andrew Griffith of the Conservative Party.

Washington is a village and civil parish in the Horsham District of West Sussex, England. It is located five miles (eight kilometres) west of Steyning and three miles (five kilometres) east of Storrington on the A24 between Horsham and Worthing. The parish covers an area of 1,276 hectares (3,150 acres). In the 2001 census 1,930 people lived in 703 households, of whom 820 were economically active. At the 2011 Census the population of the civil parish was 1,867.The village lies at the foot of the South Downs escarpment. The Anglican parish church is dedicated to St Mary. There is one pub, the Frankland Arms, a primary school and a village hall with an adjoining sports field. The hamlet named Rock lies to the north of the A283 road.
