Lendalfoot is a small village located on Carleton Bay, parish of Colmonell in the old district of Carrick, now South Ayrshire, about six miles (ten kilometres) south of Girvan, Scotland. This is mainly a farming district, lacking in woodland, with a low population density. The village sits astride the A77 that runs north to Girvan and south to Cairnryan and Stranraer. Carleton Hill rises to 520 feet or 158 metres from the road and is the site near its summit of earth banks, an ancient fort.The Lendal Water rises from Loch Lochton and runs around four miles (six kilometres) before reaching the village and the sea at Carleton Bay.Lendalfoot is the closest Mainland Scotland village to Ailsa Craig.

The Collegiate Church of St Mary, Dumbarton, Scotland, was founded in about 1453 by Isabella, Countess of Lennox and Duchess of Albany. During the medieval period, collegiate churches took on the responsibility of caring for the sick and elderly within their parishes. St Mary's met these needs in a hospital attached to the main church building, and a separate leper house located at a "safe" distance from the town centre. The church ceased to exist at some time during the Scottish Reformation of the mid-sixteenth century. The site of the collegiate church is now occupied by Dumbarton Central railway station. All that remains of the once extensive building is one of the tower arches. The stone arch was removed in 1850 to a site in Church Street, Dumbarton, and moved again in 1907 to its present location in the grounds of the town's registry office, beside the railway station.

Colmonell (Scottish Gaelic: Cill Cholmain Eala) (meaning the church of St. Colman of Lainn Eala - in Lynally, County Offaly, Ireland) is a small village and civil parish in the Stinchar Valley, South Ayrshire, Scotland. The nearest town is Girvan, 11 miles (18 kilometres) away. The River Stinchar runs through the valley and the Colmonell area boasts three ruined castles: Craigneil Castle (thirteenth century), Kirkhill Castle (sixteenth century) and Knockdolian Castle (sixteenth century). The village has a small primary school, pub, fire station and village church. With a small population, Colmonell is a close community. The village has an annual Church Fete in August and an agricultural show the same month. In June there is the annual gala day, or "Fun Day", which is run by the Community Association. This has been extended in recent years to become a "Fun Week" during which a range of activities are arranged for the local community. Colmonell church was remodelled internally in 1899 by Robert Lorimer. Lorimer also designed the village war memorial in 1922.Lendalfoot and Carleton Port lie within the parish of Colmonell and have no church of their own. The 15th-century Carleton Castle stands above Lendalfoot with the Little Carleton Fort nearby.

Ardmillan Castle is a ruinous Scottish castle dating from the late 16th century. It lies on the A77 on the edge of the Firth of Clyde south of Girvan.

Girvan (Scottish Gaelic: Inbhir Gharbhain, "mouth of the River Girvan") is a burgh and harbour town in Carrick, South Ayrshire, Scotland. Girvan is situated on the east coast of the Firth of Clyde, with a population of about 6,450. It lies 21 miles (34 km) south of Ayr, and 29 miles (47 km) north of Stranraer, the main ferry port from Scotland to Northern Ireland. Deriving its name from the river which runs through the landscape the etymology of Girvan has possible Brythonic origins, related to the Welsh: Gearafon or Gwyrddafon, "river flowing through the green flourishing place, from afon or avon, a river, and Gwyrdd, green, flourishing").

Girvan Lifeboat Station is the base for Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) lifeboat at Girvan in South Ayrshire, Scotland. It opened in 1877 and today operates an all-weather lifeboat.

The Girvan Steeple is a steeple and the site of a former townhouse in Girvan, South Ayrshire, Scotland. Its popular name, "Stumpy Tower", "Stumpy Jail" or "Auld Stumpy", is derived from the Gaelic Olladh Stiom Paidh, meaning "Great Circle of Justice". (The name of Knockcushan Street, upon which the tower sits, means "Hill [or Knoll] of Justice".) It is a Category B listed building.

Girvan Old railway station was a terminus station opened in Girvan, in Carrick, South Ayrshire, Scotland by the Maybole and Girvan Railway. Although ambitions existed to extend the line through to Stranraer it was built on a site that would not permit this and so when the line was built the Girvan New station was opened on 5 October 1877 by the Girvan and Portpatrick Junction Railway on the route to Pinmore and eventually through to Stranraer railway station.

The Davidson Hospital was a health facility in Girvan, South Ayrshire, Scotland. It was managed by NHS Ayrshire and Arran. It remains a Category B listed building.
