Old Chapel (Millwood, Virginia)

The Chapel Rural Historic District is an expansive rural historic district in Clarke County, Virginia. The district encompasses an area of nearly 11,500 acres (4,700 ha), a rural landscape that extends from Millwood in the south, nearly to Berryville in the north. The district takes its name from the Old Chapel, an 18th-century building that stands prominently at the junction of several roads near the center of the district. The district includes nearly 700 contributing properties.The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.

Chapel Hill is a historic plantation house located near Berryville, Clarke County, Virginia. The oldest sections of the main house dates to the mid-1820s and is in the Federal style. They are the central two-story, six-bay section, which consists of two distinct gable-roofed blocks; and the two-story, three-bay section now at the southernmost end of the house. The house was remodeled and enlarged in 1941 in the Colonial Revival style, after plans drawn up by George L. Howe, a Washington, DC architect. Also on the property are the contributing stable, groom's house, frame bank barn, machine shed, corncrib, barn, chicken coop, and three small sheds. The property was purchased by William J. Donovan (1883-1959) in 1938, who subsequently undertook the renovation and expansion of the main house. Architect George L. Howe designed alterations and additions during 1938–1941.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

Annefield or Annfield is a historic plantation house located near Boyce, Clarke County, Virginia. Matthew Page (1762–1826) built it beginning around 1790, and named it after his new wife, Ann Randolph Meade (1781–1838), daughter of Richard Kidder Meade and sister of William Meade, whom he married in 1799.

Scaleby is a historic estate home and farm located near Boyce, Clarke County, Virginia. The main house and associated outbuildings were built between February 1909 and December 1911 for Henry Brook and Hattie Newcomer Gilpin. The 30,000-square-foot (2,800 m2) house was named for the wealthy family's ancestral home in England.

Carter Hall was the Millwood, Virginia, USA estate of Lt. Col. Nathaniel Burwell (1750–1814). It is located in the upper Shenandoah Valley, off Virginia Route 255 northeast of Millwood. The estate includes a grand plantation house, a great lawn, and terraced gardens, and has panoramic views in all directions. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Huntingdon, also known as The Meadow, is a historic plantation house located near Boyce, Clarke County, Virginia. The original section was built about 1830, and is a two-story, five-bay, stone I-house dwelling with a gable roof. A rear ell was added around 1850, making a T-shaped house. Also on the property are a contributing pyramidal roofed mid-19th-century smokehouse and a stone-lined ice pit with a late 19th-century, square-notched log icehouse.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

Millwood Colored School, now known as Millwood Community Center, is a historic school building for African-American children located at Boyce, Clarke County, Virginia. It was built about 1910, and is a one-story, hip-roofed school has a two-room plan with coat closets, and a kitchen. The building measures approximately 60 feet long and 30 feet wide. It features a recessed entry, two entrance doors, overhanging eaves with scalloped exposed rafter ends, double-hung windows with wooden tracery, five-panel doors, and sits on a limestone foundation. It was used as an elementary school until 1952, then sold to the Millwood Good Will Association for use as a community center.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.
