Chisholm is a suburb in the City of Maitland, New South Wales, Australia. It is 23 kilometres (14 mi) north-northwest from Newcastle, and 7 kilometres (4 mi) south-east from Maitland. The traditional owners and custodians of the Maitland area are the Wonnarua people.As at the 2016 Census, Chisholm had a population of almost 1,500. On 6 October 2011 it was announced that an additional 5,000 housing lots were to be released which estimated accommodation for an additional 15,000 residents.

Tenambit is a suburb of the city of Maitland, a city and local government area in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia. It is located approximately 5 kilometres (3 mi) east of the Maitland CBD. The suburb is on sloping ground, which decreases from approximately 40 metres (131 ft) AMSL in the west to 10 m (33 ft) AMSL at the eastern edge of the suburb. At the 2016 census it had a population of approximately 2,900.

Thornton Redbacks FC currently competes in the Northern NSW Football Northern League One with senior teams in First Grade, Reserve Grade and U18's and whilst junior teams range from U13 to U16. Maitland High School (abbreviated as MHS) is a government-funded co-educational comprehensive secondary day school, located on High Street, East Maitland, New South Wales, Australia. Established in 1884 as the boys only single-sex Maitland Boys' High School, in 1986 the school collaborated with Maitland Girls' High School, and now both schools are co-educational, with Maitland Boys' High School renamed as Maitland High School, and Maitland Girls' High School as Maitland Grossmann High School. Maitland High School enrolled approximately 936 students in 2023, from Year 7 to Year 12, of whom 17 percent identified as Indigenous Australians and seven percent were from a language background other than English. The school is operated by the NSW Department of Education.

It serves Thornton in the eastern suburbs of Maitland opening in 1913.The original station opened on 1 August 1871 as Woodford and was renamed in 1887 to avoid confusion with Woodford station in the Blue Mountains. The line from Tarro was duplicated in 1880 and quadrupled in February 1913 when the current station opened.To the south-west of the station, the Bloomfield Colliery branches off.
