Tarro railway station

Tarro () is a north-western suburb of the Newcastle City Council local government area in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia. It, and parts of nearby Beresfield, was originally known as Upper Hexham, "lower" Hexham being an older settlement located about 5 kilometres (3 mi) to the east on the Hunter River. The name "Tarro" reportedly means "stone" in an Aboriginal language.At the 2006 census, Tarro had a population of 1,558, almost all of which is concentrated in the south-western corner of the suburb.

Beresfield railway station is located on the Main Northern line in New South Wales, Australia. It opened on 31 July 1925, serving the western Newcastle suburb of Beresfield.

Woodberry is one of the easternmost suburbs of the City of Maitland in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia. At the 2011 census, Woodberry's population was 3,155. Most of the population lives in residential subdivisions while almost 84% of the suburb's land is rural in nature. Rental accommodation is occupied by a third of the residents.It lies to the west of the Hunter River, 2.4 kilometres (1.5 mi) of which forms the suburb's eastern border, separating it from Heatherbrae and Tomago in the Port Stephens local government area. It is connected by road to the adjoining suburbs of Millers Forest, Beresfield and Tarro. Much of Woodberry is low-lying floodplain and when the Hunter River floods, the roads to Millers Forest and Tarro sometimes become impassable. However, the residential area is elevated and access to Beresfield remains available. There is a government co-ed primary school called Woodberry Public School on Lawson Avenue in Woodberry.

The Hexham Bridge is a pair of road bridges that carry the Pacific Highway across the Hunter River from Tarro to Tomago in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia. It comprises two separate structures; a steel truss bridge opened on the 17 December 1952 by Acting Minister of Transport George Weir and a concrete bridge opened in 1987.

Hexham railway station is located on the Main Northern line in New South Wales, Australia. It serves the western Newcastle suburb of Hexham, and was opened on 1 August 1871.Hexham originally had a substantial brick platform building; however, this was demolished in May 1993 and replaced with a lightweight bus-shelter type structure. The station has a full-length island platform; however, the eastern end has been fenced off to a shorter two carriage train length. Until 1987, the Richmond Vale's exchange sidings were located opposite Hexham station. In November 2014, the Australian Rail Track Corporation completed a project that saw the westbound coal road relocated further south to make way for five 1,800 metre passing loops.South of the coal road, Aurizon have a locomotive depot.

Thornton is a suburb in the City of Maitland, New South Wales, Australia. It is bisected by the New England Highway. Post code 2322, including Thornton, Beresfield, Tarro and Hexham, had a population of 14,654 in 2001. In the year 2021, 20 years later this population has increased to 24,373

Newcastle Motordrome was a dirt track racing venue located on the Old Punt Road in Tomago, New South Wales, just north of the Hunter River and 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) north of the city of Newcastle. The ¼-mile speedway operated from its opening in 1977 until it was sold in 2002. The site of the Motordrome is now warehouses and light industrial factories.

Thornton railway station is located on the Main Northern line in New South Wales, Australia. It serves Thornton in the eastern suburbs of Maitland opening in 1913.The original station opened on 1 August 1871 as Woodford and was renamed in 1887 to avoid confusion with Woodford station in the Blue Mountains. The line from Tarro was duplicated in 1880 and quadrupled in February 1913 when the current station opened.To the south-west of the station, the Bloomfield Colliery branches off.

Thornton Redbacks FC currently competes in the Northern NSW Football Northern League One with senior teams in First Grade, Reserve Grade and U18's and whilst junior teams range from U13 to U16. No. 131 Radar Station RAAF is a heritage-listed former Royal Australian Air Force radar station at Kooragang, City of Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia. They are also known as the Radar Igloo and Radar Buildings. They now operate as the Estuarine Interpretive Centre.It was formed at Richmond, New South Wales on 19 June 1942. After initial training the radar group was sent to Beverley Park, Kogarah on 14 August 1942, then Kyeemagh on 27 August 1942 and to its final posting at Ash Island, Kooragang, Newcastle from 7 September 1942. The radar station on Ash Island was established to detect enemy airborne threats during World War II. It housed British mobile equipment and the most modern Canadian GCI set, which was well protected in two concrete reinforced igloo buildings. No. 131 Radar Station RAAF was disbanded on 18 January 1946. The remains of the Ash Island radar station, which the unit occupied from September 1942 until January 1946, were added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 16 April 2010.
