West Dover, Vermont

The Corse-Shippee House is a historic house at 11 Dorr Fitch Road in West Dover, Vermont. Built in 1860, it is one of the village's finest examples of high-style Greek Revival architecture, and is sited on one of the few town farmsteads that has not been subdivided. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008; it was previously listed as a contributing property to the West Dover Village Historic District.

Deerfield Valley Regional Airport (FAA LID: 4V8) (formerly Mount Snow Airport) was a privately owned, public use airport located one nautical mile (2 km) southwest of the central business district of West Dover, in Windham County, Vermont, United States.The airport was permanently closed by FAA NOTAM on June 3, 2019.The airport's location was within 5 miles of three visitor attractions: the Hermitage Club, the Hermitage Golf Course, and Mount Snow ski area.

The Crows Nest is a historic farmstead property at 35 Sturgis Drive in Wilmington, Vermont. The 75-acre (30 ha) property includes rolling woods and a hay meadow, and a small cluster of farm outbuildings near the main house, a c. 1803 Cape style building. The property typifies early Vermont farmsteads, and is now protected by a preservation easement. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.

The Hermitage Club at Haystack Mountain is a private, member-owned club that provides alpine skiing on Haystack Mountain in Wilmington, Vermont to its members.

Dover Town Hall is located in the village center of Dover, Vermont, at the junction of Holland and Taft Brook Roads. Built in 1828, it is a well-preserved example of a transitional Federal-Gothic Revival church building, converted to government use in 1875. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

Wilmington is the primary village and a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Wilmington, Windham County, Vermont, United States. As of the 2020 census, it had a population of 439, compared to 2,255 in the entire town. The center of the village is part of the Wilmington Village Historic District. The CDP is in southwestern Windham County, at the geographic center of the town of Wilmington, on the east side of the Green Mountains. It sits in the valley of the North Branch of the Deerfield River, which flows west to join the main stem of the Deerfield at the north end of Harriman Reservoir in western Wilmington. The area is part of the Connecticut River watershed. Vermont Route 9 (East and West Main Street) passes through the village, leading east 19 miles (31 km) to Brattleboro and west 20 miles (32 km) to Bennington. Vermont Route 100 (North Main Street) leads north from the center of Wilmington 8 miles (13 km) to Dover. Route 100 joins Route 9 going east out of Wilmington, then turns south and leads 5 miles (8 km) to Jacksonville.

The Wilmington Village Historic District encompasses a significant portion of the village center of Wilmington, Vermont. The village grew as a crossroads industrial center through the mid-19th century, and experienced relatively little growth afterward. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

Chimney Hill is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Wilmington, Windham County, Vermont, United States. As of the 2020 census, it had a population of 263.The CDP is in southwestern Windham County, in the western part of Wilmington. It is a residential area built on the southeastern slopes of Haystack Mountain and is bordered to the north and west by the Green Mountain National Forest. It is 3 miles (5 km) northwest of the village of Wilmington.

Haystack Mountain is located in Wilmington, Vermont, and is part of the Green Mountains mountain range. It has a summit of 3,445 feet (1,049 m) and shares a ridgeline with neighboring Mt. Snow to the north. Haystack is “[a] mountain with a sharp summit cone and a broad, deep lake just under the precipitous peak. The view is a wide and complete panorama.” According to the 2015 Wilmington Municipal Plan, “Haystack Mountain and the ridgeline which forms the spine of the Green Mountain National Forest are prominent landforms. They provide a dramatic scenic impact from many viewpoints in Wilmington. Haystack Mountain boasts numerous hiking trails to the summit, capturing a broad vista of the valley below.” In his 1861 report, Edward Hitchcock described Haystack Mountain as, “one of the wildest, most rugged, and imposing peaks in Southern Vermont.” "Just below the peak of Haystack Mountain, at an elevation of 2,984 feet, lies 36 acre Haystack Pond. Surrounded by wetlands, this pristine pond is accessible only by a hiking trail. Its mountainside location makes it a scenic treasure, whether viewed from the summit or the shore. Nearby is three acre Crystal Pond, now enclosed by woods and also surrounded by wetlands." Binny Brook connects Haystack Pond to Crystal Pond, and then flows down Haystack Mountain, emptying to Harriman Reservoir. Haystack Pond does not support aquatic life due to its acidity. Core samples taken from the pond suggest it had a pH of 5.2-5.3 from 1700-1925. This correlates with several failed attempts to stock the pond with fish in the late 1800s. The pond went through rapid acidification from 1925-1970 to ~pH of 4.9 due to acid rain from sulfur emissions. It has since returned to previous levels. Haystack Mountain Ski Area is on the northeast flank of Haystack Mountain, on 834 acres. Chimney Hill, a housing development with several hundred homes, is on the lower southeast flank. The foothills of the Chimney Hill development include the Haystack Golf Course, which is open to the public. The remaining, and majority of Haystack Mountain is part of the Green Mountain National Forest. Hiking trails are available to the public from the Chimney Hill development to the peak. Another trail skirts the west ridge of the summit, around Haystack pond, to the ridgeline trail which leads to the summit of Mt Snow.

Mount Snow (previously known as Mount Pisgah) is a mountain and ski resort in southern Vermont located in the Green Mountains. It is Vermont's southernmost big mountain, and therefore, closest to many Northeast metropolitan areas. In September 2019, Mount Snow joined Vail Resorts' portfolio of 37 resorts and its Epic Pass, along with all other 16 resorts owned by Peak ResortsMount Snow is home to Carinthia Parks, which debuted in the 2008–2009 season. Carinthia is home to ten terrain parks, with both natural and man-made features and a superpipe. Mount Snow was co-host of the first Extreme Games in 1995 and host of the X Games in 2000 and 2001. Carinthia at Mount Snow claimed home to the second stop of the first annual winter Dew Tour as well as many other events including the Freeski Open and Carinthia Classic. In the summer of 2011, Mount Snow installed a brand new Leitner-Poma high-speed detachable six-pack bubble chair. This lift transports skiers to the top of the mountain in seven minutes. The bubble shields skiers and riders from wind and snow and keeps them warm. If it is a warm skiing day riders can choose to leave the bubble up. As of 2022, Mount Snow has two high-speed detachable lifts from the base to the 3600-foot summit and a total of six high-speed detachable chairlifts, one leaving from the Carinthia Base Area, one leaving from the Sunbrook base area and four leaving from the Main Base Area.
