Verona is a census-designated place (CDP) in Augusta County, Virginia, United States. The population was 4,239 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Staunton–Waynesboro Micropolitan Statistical Area.

Verona School is a historic public school building located at Verona, Augusta County, Virginia. It was built in 1911, as a three-room, frame schoolhouse in the manner of a common I-house design. The school closed by the late 1940s, and around 1956–1957, was moved back from the road and converted to an office and manager's residence for a neighboring motel.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

Waverly Hill is a historic mansion located at Staunton, Virginia. It was designed by architect William Lawrence Bottomley (1883–1951) and built in 1929. It consists of a 2 1/2–story, five-bay, center section flanked by one-story wings connected by low, one-story hyphens in the Georgian Revival style. The house is constructed of brick, and the central section and wings are topped by slate-covered hipped roofs.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Staunton High School is a public high school in Staunton, Virginia, United States. It is a part of Staunton City Schools, a public school district that also includes three elementary schools, a middle school, and an alternative education program.

The Augusta Military Academy (AMA) was a secondary education military academy in Fort Defiance, Virginia, United States. The school was established in 1865 (1865) by Confederate veteran Charles Summerville Roller as the Augusta Male Academy and formally became a military academy in 1880 (1880). It combined classical studies with a military curriculum and was officially named Augusta Military Academy in 1890. At the time, it was one of the first military preparatory schools in the Commonwealth of Virginia. It was one of the first such schools in the United States to adopt the Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps program in 1919. Until its closure in 1984 (1984), the Academy had attracted over 7,000 students from the United States and abroad. Today it is owned and operated as a campground for the Virginia District of the United Pentecostal Church International. It is located on U.S. Route 11, also known as the Lee Highway.

Augusta Stone Church is a Presbyterian (PCUSA) place of worship located in Augusta County in the Commonwealth of Virginia, USA in the unincorporated community of Fort Defiance. The church was one of two meeting houses established by The Congregation of the Triple Forks of the Shenandoah in the year 1740. Augusta Stone and the sister meeting house Tinkling Spring were both served by the Rev. John Craig. The final structure which was completed in 1749 is still in use and holds the distinction of being the oldest Presbyterian Church in continuous use in Virginia.

Cobble Hill Farm is a 196-acre farm in Staunton, Virginia. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 2004. It is composed of three parcels: two tenant farms and the Cobble Hill parcel. The Cobble Hill house is a 2+1⁄2-story masonry house with a steep-gabled roof, with accents in the Tudor Revival and French Eclectic styles, with a formal garden and pool. It has a one-story, side-gabled porch, with a large, coursed-stone chimney near the entry porch. The roof surfaces are all finished with wood shingles. The building was designed in 1936 by Sam Collins, and built in 1937 for William Ewing's widow.One of the tenant farms lies across the street and is accessed from Woodlee Rd., and contains a frame, two-story, three-bay, center hall plan vernacular farmhouse, plus several outbuildings, with 46 acres of land. The second tenant farm consists of a frame, side-gabled, three-bay, 2+1⁄2-story I house with an ell addition, and sits on 63 acres of farm land. Cobble Hill Farm has several contributing sites and structures, including a garden, pool, shed complex, dairy and feed barns, a summerhouse, a tower, and the buildings of the tenant parcels. It is still a functional farm, producing sheep and hay. Its area of historical significance is in architecture and engineering.

The Commonwealth Center for Children and Adolescents, formerly known as The DeJarnette Center for Human Development, is a children's mental hospital located in the city of Staunton, Virginia, in the United States. At its present location, the facility has four units which house up to 12 patients each. It is the only mental health facility for children and adolescents operated by the Virginia Department of Mental Health, Mental Retardation, and Substance Abuse Services in the state (with the exception of a few beds available at other mental health hospitals for adolescents).

Staunton National Cemetery is a United States National Cemetery located in the Shenandoah Valley, in Staunton, Virginia. Administered by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, it encompasses just over a single acre, and as of the end of 2005 had 994 interments. It is closed to new interments, and is maintained by the Culpeper National Cemetery.

The Shenandoah Valley Railroad (reporting mark SV) is a shortline railroad operating 20.2 miles (32.5 km) of track between Staunton and Pleasant Valley, Virginia. The railroad interchanges with CSX and Buckingham Branch in Staunton and Norfolk Southern in Pleasant Valley. The railroad was purchased from Norfolk Southern in 1993 and is currently operated by the Durbin and Greenbrier Valley Railroad.
