The Rectory

Christ Church Glendower is the oldest (and most centrally located) of the historic Episcopal church buildings in St. Anne's Parish, Albemarle County, Virginia near Scottsville. Christ Church Glendower is located in Keene, built of brick in 1831 in the Roman Revival style. It features a full Doric order entablature with pediments at each end containing lunette windows, and is surrounded by a contributing cemetery. The remaining two historic churches in St. Anne's parish are also discussed below.

Limestone, also known as Limestone Plantation and Limestone Farm, has two historic homes and a farm complex located near Keswick, Albemarle County, Virginia. The main dwelling at Limestone Farm consists of a long, narrow two-story central section flanked by two wings. the main section was built about 1840, and the wings appear to be two small late-18th-century dwellings that were incorporated into the larger building. It features a two-story porch. The house underwent another major renovation in the 1920s, when Colonial Revival-style detailing was added. The second dwelling is the Robert Sharp House, also known as the Monroe Law Office. It was built in 1794, and is a 2+1⁄2-story, brick and frame structure measuring 18 feet by 24 feet. Also on the property are a contributing shed (garage), corncrib (c. 1910), cemetery, a portion of a historic roadway, and a lime kiln known as "Jefferson's Limestone Kiln" (1760s). Limestone's owner in the late-18th century, Robert Sharp, was a neighbor and acquaintance of Thomas Jefferson. The property was purchased by James Monroe in 1816, after the death of Robert Sharp in 1808, and he put his brother Andrew Monroe in charge of its administration. The property was sold at auction in 1828.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.

Plain Dealing is a historic home located near Keene, Albemarle County, Virginia. It is an H-shaped dwelling, consisting of a two-story main block and a parallel 1+1⁄2-story rear wing connected by a two-story hyphen. The two-story main section was built about 1787, and the 1+1⁄2-story wing may predate it. The front facade is five bays wide, and features an original tetrastyle porch supported on Doric order piers. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

Pine Knot is a historic cabin located 14 miles (23 km) south of Charlottesville, Virginia in Albemarle County, Virginia. The cabin was owned and occupied by the 26th president of the United States, Theodore Roosevelt and his wife Edith Kermit Roosevelt, and used by Roosevelt and the first lady while he was president, although no official business took place there. In 1905, Edith Roosevelt spent $280 to purchase the fifteen-acre property with its rustic worker's cabin, and she bought an additional seventy-five acres in 1911. The cabin is owned by the Edith and Theodore Roosevelt Pine Knot Foundation and is open for visits by appointment.

Southern Albemarle Rural Historic District is a national historic district located near Charlottesville, Albemarle County, Virginia. The district encompasses 1,284 contributing buildings, 96 contributing sites, 486 contributing structures, and 3 contributing objects. It includes a variety of large farms, historic villages, and crossroads communities. The district includes 23 properties previously listed on the National Register of Historic Places.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.

Keene is an unincorporated community in Albemarle County, Virginia, United States. As of the 1990 census, the town had a total population of 10. The town is known for being the location of the last sighting of a passenger pigeon in the wild, by Theodore Roosevelt. Roosevelt had "the first Camp David", called Pine Knot, here from 1905. Christ Church Glendower, Plain Dealing, and The Rectory are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.Mount Pleasant Baptist Church is a historically black church in Keene. In December 1974, the pastor was Rev. Frank Montague. The church held a Christmas Bazaar on Saturday December 14 of that year, sponsored by the Keene Birthday Club.

Bellair, in Albemarle County, Virginia, is a historic farm. The farm is significant for the architecture of its buildings and for its association with owners important in the political, religious, and economic life of the state. A 250-acre portion of the farm was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.Martin Dawson, owner in 1819, was a co-founder of the Rivanna Navigation Company and eventually became the largest donor to the University of Virginia up to the time of his bequest.Its southern boundary is the Hardware River.The main house on the property is a Federal-style building with dual chimneys dating from 1794 to 1817 period.Architect Marshall S. Wells designed and/or supervised some Colonial Revival style additions in the 1930s and there was further addition of a Palladian window and more in the 1960s.A smokehouse is one additional contributing building on the property.

Mount Ida is a historic home located near Scottsville, Albemarle County, Virginia. It was built between about 1785 and 1805, and is a two-story, five-bay frame plantation house. It has a one-bay west wing. The interior features a parlor with elaborately carved paneling. The house was moved to a 422.65-acre site, with an elevated knoll located along a bend in the Hardware River, in 1995.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.

Estouteville is a historic home located near Powell Corner, Albemarle County, Virginia. The main house was begun in 1827, and consists of a two-story, seven-bay central block, 68 feet by 43 feet, with two 35 feet by 26 feet, three-bay, single-story wings. It is constructed of brick and is in the Roman Revival style. A Tuscan cornice embellishes the low hipped roofs of all three sections, each of which is surmounted by tall interior end chimneys. The interior plan is dominated by the large Great Hall, a 23-by-35-foot richly decorated room. Also on the property are a contributing kitchen / wash house; a square frame dairy (now a chicken house); a square, brick smokehouse, probably built in the mid-19th century, also covered with a pyramidal roof; and a frame slave quarters.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

High Meadows, also known as Peter White House, is a historic home located near Scottsville, Albemarle County, Virginia.
