Timberlake is an unincorporated community in south-central Person County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 6,921 at the 2010 census. It lies between Roxboro and Durham along the US Highway 501 corridor through Person County. The economy of this community is dominated by tobacco agriculture and manufacturing.

Orange County Speedway is a 3⁄8 mile (0.60 km) asphalt oval in Orange County, North Carolina, near Rougemont. It first opened in 1966 as a 1⁄4 mile (0.40 km) and a 5⁄8 mile (1.0 km) dirt oval (Trico Speedway), which operated until 1967 and 1973, respectively. The facility was reopened and paved in 1983. With a slogan of "the fastest 3/8-mile race track in America," the oval features 19-degree banking through the turns and 16 degrees on the straightaways, creating three distinct grooves making for very fast turns. The aluminum grandstands stretch from Turn 4 all the way down the front straightaway to Turn 1. The speedway closed in 2003 but reopened on March 11, 2006. Some of the most famous names in stock car racing have raced at the Orange County Speedway, including Dale Earnhardt, Jeff Gordon, Mark Martin, Davey and Donnie Allison, Dale Jarrett, Jeff and Ward Burton, Elliott and Hermie Sadler, Scott Riggs, Michael Waltrip, Todd Bodine, Kyle Petty and Bobby Labonte. Some more recent notable drivers include Timothy Peters, Darrell "Bubba" Wallace Jr., Ryan Blaney, Jeb Burton, Timmy Hill, Ryan Reed, Jesse Little and Gray Gaulding. David Pearson and Glen Wood raced at the speedway when it was a dirt track. The track currently runs a regular weekly show on the second and fourth Saturday night of each month, April through October. The facility also hosts the PASS Super Late Model series, CARS Super Late Model Tour and CARS Late Model Stock Tour.

Castle Mont Rouge is a castle located on Red Mountain in Rougemont, North Carolina, north of Durham. The castle was designed by American sculptor Robert Mihaly, known for his work at Duke University and the National Cathedral, as a private residence and country studio. The design was based on architecture from Central and Eastern Europe, complete with 18 pinnacles and a turret.Robert Mihaly began construction of Castle Mont Rouge without a blueprint in the year 2000. He lived in one of the finished rooms and was joined by long-time partner, Caroline Smith, whom he met in 2003 and who described living there as "whimsical fun, enigmatic, and romantic".The castle was abandoned in 2006, although a fundraising campaign featuring Mihaly's two children was launched to fund renovating it in 2014. The castle was still abandoned as of 2016. Mihaly began restoring the castle in 2017, citing his desire to finish it while his children are still children.The castle has been cited as a Disney-like fairytale castle, an abandoned or deserted castle, a quirky North Carolina destination, and the most bizarre building in North Carolina.Much rumor and lore has been built around Castle Mont Rouge and its creator, Robert Mihaly. Mihaly referenced the rumor about the death of his wife in a televised news story, acknowledging that he is not a widower.

Hurdle Mills is an unincorporated community in southern Person County and northern Orange County, North Carolina, United States. It is located on North Carolina Highway 157, southwest of Roxboro, at an elevation of 614 feet (187 m). The population was 3,770 at the 2010 census.

Rougemont is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Durham and Person counties, North Carolina, United States. The population of the CDP was 978 at the 2010 census. An act to incorporate Rougemont as a town was introduced to the North Carolina General Assembly in 2011.

Bushy Fork is an unincorporated community in Person County, North Carolina. As of 2020, it has a population of 2,336. Its proximity is associated with the historical Henry-Vernon House built in 1854.

Caldwell is an unincorporated community in Orange County, North Carolina, United States. It is located at the junction of North Carolina Highway 57 and North Carolina Highway 157, northeast of Schley. Only a rural crossroads, it is the most significant community on fifteen mile stretches of both highways. Caldwell is famous for the annual Fourth of July Parade that starts at the Caldwell Fire Department and ends at the Caldwell Community Center. The Dr. Arch Jordan House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.

Henry-Vernon House is a historic home located near Bushy Fork, Person County, North Carolina. The earliest section was built in 1854, and is a two-story, Greek Revival style frame structure, with a one-story ell. In 1896, a Queen Anne style frame wing was added to the front of the house. Also on the property are two log tobacco barns, a corn crib, and a granary, all contributing buildings.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Moriah is an unincorporated community in southeastern Person County, North Carolina, United States, south of Surl, and east-southeast of Timberlake.

Dr. Arch Jordan House, also known as the manse for Little River Presbyterian Church, is a historic home located near Caldwell, Orange County, North Carolina. It was built about 1875, and is a two-story, single pile, central hall plan, Italianate style frame dwelling. It features a central projecting gable, bracketed eaves, and a columned porch with a low hipped roof. Attached at the rear is an originally-separate two-story kitchen building. Also on the property are the contributing combination smokehouse/food storage shed, log and weatherboard tobacco barn, and 1+1⁄2-story main barn.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998. Dr. Jordan, a prominent physician. Across NC 57 Dr. Jordan built the Little River General Store and Pharmacy, circa 1870. He taught at the nearby Caldwell Institute, a residential secondary school during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
