Lord-Dane House

Alfred Shaker Historic District is a historic district in Alfred, Maine, with properties on both sides of Shaker Hill Road. The area had its first Shaker "believers" in 1783 following visiting with Mother Ann Lee and became an official community starting in 1793 when a meetinghouse was built. It was home to Maine's oldest and largest Shaker community. Two notable events were the songwriting of Joseph Brackett, including, according to most accounts, Simple Gifts, and the spiritual healing of the sick by the Shakers. When the Alfred Shakers products and goods were no longer competitive with mass-produced products and the membership had dwindled significantly, the village was closed in 1931 and members moved to Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village, also in Maine. In memory of the influence that the Shaker village had on the community, the Shaker Village Museum was founded by the Friends of the Alfred Shaker Museum and in 2001 the village, or historic district, was added to the National Register of Historic Places. In 1931 the farmland, village and buildings were acquired by the Brothers of Christian Instruction, now called the Notre Dame Spiritual Center.

Alfred is a town in York County, Maine, United States. As of the 2020 census, the town population was 3,073. Alfred is the seat of York County, and home to part of the Massabesic Experimental Forest. National Register of Historic Places has two listings in the town, the Alfred Historic District, with 48 houses, and the Alfred Shaker Historic District. Villages in the town include Alfred, Alfred Mills, and North Alfred. The town is part of the Portland-South Portland-Biddeford metropolitan area.

Massabesic High School, Pronounced "mass-uh-BEE-sik" is a public high school located in Waterboro, Maine, United States. The school is part of the RSU 57 school system, which serves six southwestern Maine towns with a combined population of approximately 22,000 residents: Alfred, Limerick, Lyman, Newfield, Shapleigh and Waterboro. The school is split into two separate buildings: the West Building which serves most of the students in all grades, and the East Building which serves most of the upperclassmen (grades 11 and 12) and special education classes.

The First Baptist Church, also known as the Old Corner Church, is a historic church at West and Federal Streets in Waterboro, Maine. Built in 1803-04 and altered to a Greek Revival appearance in 1849, it retains significant characteristics of more traditional Federal period meetinghouses. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

Waterboro is a town in York County, Maine, United States. The population was 7,936 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Portland-South Portland-Biddeford metropolitan area. The town includes the districts of North (04061), South (04087), and East (04030) Waterboro, in addition to the largest development in southern Maine, Lake Arrowhead Community. The introduction of Maine subdivision regulation, and Maine Planning Boards, is the direct result of the creation of the largest subdivision, Lake Arrowhead Community. The reaction of the Maine State Legislature was mandatory Planning Boards, and subdivision regulation.

The Waterboro Grange is a historic civic building at 31 West Road in Waterboro, Maine. Built in 1948-50, it is a simplified recreation of a 1920s Craftsman/Bungalow building that was destroyed by a massive wildfire that swept through the region in 1947, and is one of the last Grange halls built in the state. In addition to serving as home to the local Grange organization since then, it has been a major community resource, hosting all manner of social and civic functions. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012.

The District No. 5 School, also known as the Alfred Gore School, is an historic one room school at 781 Gore Road in Alfred, Maine. Built in 1872, it was used as a school until 1921, and was restored to its appearance of that time in the 2000s. It is the best-preserved of Alfred's surviving district school buildings, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on February 4, 2009.

The Smith–Emery House is a historic house at 400 Main Street in the Springvale village of Sanford, Maine. Built in 1847, it is one of Sanford's largest and finest examples of Greek Revival architecture, and was owned by two prominent local businessmen. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.

East Waterboro is an unincorporated village in the town of Waterboro, York County, Maine, United States. The community is located at the junction of U.S. Route 202, Maine State Route 4, and Maine State Route 5. East Waterboro has a post office, with ZIP code 04030.

Regional School Unit 57 (RSU 57), formerly known as Maine School Administrative District 57 (MSAD 57), is a school district in Maine. The district office is located in Waterboro, Maine, next to Massabesic High School. Its current superintendent is Dr. Stephen Marquis.

The James Leavitt House in Waterboro Center, Maine, is a mid-19th century Greek Revival home built of wooden weatherboard and resting on a granite foundation. Built in 1850 for wealthy merchant James Leavitt, the house is on the National Register of Historic Places and is now owned by the town of Waterboro, which operates the architecturally-significant structure as a house museum known as the Taylor/Frey/Leavitt House Museum.

The Dennis Johnson Lumber Company Mill is a historic industrial facility on Maine State Route 5 in Waterboro, Maine. For nearly a century beginning in 1869, a lumber mill, powered first by water and then steam, was operated at this location. The property, much of whose equipment is still in situ following its closure in 1963, is a rare surviving 19th-century industrial facility in the rural community. Now owned by the local historical society (which hopes to transform it into a museum property), it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.
