Staten Island Technical High School, commonly called Staten Island Tech or SITHS, was founded in 1988. The Church of St. Charles is a parish church in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York, currently located at 644 Clawson Street in the Oakwood neighborhood of Staten Island, New York City. St. Charles Church was named for the 16th-century Italian saint Charles Borromeo, and was originally located on Mill Road, established in 1922 as a mission church of Richmondtown's Church of St. Patrick. St. Charles achieved independent parish status in 1960. Its Catholic school opened in 1963 and received its own building in 1964. The new church building on Clawson Street was opened in 1973.St. Charles was the first parish assignment of Father John Joseph O'Hara, a future bishop who returned to St. Charles as his Staten Island residence.

New Dorp High School, commonly referred to as New Dorp or NDHS, is a public school in New Dorp on the East Shore of the New York City borough of Staten Island in the New Dorp neighborhood. The school is located at 465 New Dorp Lane next to Miller Field, an army airport turned park, which extends to the Lower New York Bay. New Dorp is a neighborhood on the East Shore of Staten Island, New York City, United States. New Dorp is bounded by Mill Road on the southeast, Tysens Lane on the southwest, Amboy and Richmond Roads on the northwest, and Bancroft Avenue on the northeast. It was historically one of the most important towns on Staten Island, becoming a part of New York City in 1898 as part of the Borough of Richmond. In the 1960s New Dorp ceased to be a distinct town during New York City's suburbanization, where rapid housing development on Staten Island saw the town added to the city conurbation. Despite this, today New Dorp remains one of the main commercial and transport centers on Staten Island. New Dorp is often associated with the Vanderbilt family, who had a notable presence in the area and many of whom are buried in the neighborhood at the Moravian Cemetery, the largest and oldest active cemetery on Staten Island. On December 16, 1960, a United Airlines Douglas DC-8 bound for Idlewild Airport (now John F. Kennedy International Airport) in New York City collided in midair with a TWA Lockheed L-1049 Super Constellation descending toward LaGuardia Airport. The Constellation crashed on Miller Field in Staten Island and the DC-8 in Park Slope, Brooklyn, killing all 128 aboard the two aircraft and six people on the ground. The accident was the world's deadliest aviation disaster at the time. The accident became known as the Park Slope plane crash or the Miller Field crash after the two crash sites. The accident was also the first hull loss and first fatal accident involving a Douglas DC-8.

Oakwood is a neighborhood located in east central Staten Island, New York City, near the South Shore. The Church of Our Lady Queen of Peace is a parish church in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York, located at 90 Third Street in the New Dorp neighborhood of Staten Island, New York City. It was established on October 10, 1922, and the present church building was inaugurated on Christmas Eve, 1928.

The Old Britton House was a house located on the western side of Amboy Road almost directly opposite of Tysens Lane in the New Dorp Beach section of Staten Island, New York. At one time, it was one of the oldest structures on Staten Island. Built between 1650 and 1680 by a Huguenot refugee, the house was the site of an Indian massacre, the headquarters for a Hessian commander during the American Revolutionary War, a smallpox hospital and a colonial courthouse. It was demolished in 1896 and the stones that formed the walls were crushed up into macadam.

Monsignor Farrell High School is an American Catholic high school for boys, located in the Oakwood section of Staten Island, New York. Opened in 1961, the school is named in honor of Monsignor Joseph Farrell, a Catholic priest, as well as a religious, political and community leader on Staten Island.
