Hylan Plaza (formerly called Fox Plaza after its former anchor tenant) was an open-air shopping center in the New Dorp neighborhood of Staten Island, New York City, United States.

The Church of St. Charles is a parish church in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York, currently located at 644 Clawson Street in the Oakwood neighborhood of Staten Island, New York City. St. Charles Church was named for the 16th-century Italian saint Charles Borromeo, and was originally located on Mill Road, established in 1922 as a mission church of Richmondtown's Church of St. Patrick. St. Charles achieved independent parish status in 1960. Its Catholic school opened in 1963 and received its own building in 1964. The new church building on Clawson Street was opened in 1973.St. Charles was the first parish assignment of Father John Joseph O'Hara, a future bishop who returned to St. Charles as his Staten Island residence.

New Dorp is a neighborhood on the East Shore of Staten Island, New York City, United States. New Dorp is bounded by Mill Road on the southeast, Tysens Lane on the southwest, Amboy and Richmond Roads on the northwest, and Bancroft Avenue on the northeast. It is adjacent to Oakwood to the southwest, Todt Hill to the northwest, Dongan Hills and Grant City, and Midland Beach and Miller Field to the southeast. New Dorp Beach, bordering to the east, is often listed on maps as a separate neighborhood from Mill Road to the shore of Lower New York Bay, but is generally considered to be a part of New Dorp. One of the earliest European settlements in the New York City area, New Dorp was founded by Dutch settlers from the New Netherland colony, and the name is an anglicization of Nieuw Dorp, meaning "New Village" in Dutch. It was historically one of the most important towns on Staten Island, becoming a part of New York City in 1898 as part of the Borough of Richmond. In the 1960s New Dorp ceased to be a distinct town during New York City's suburbanization, where rapid housing development on Staten Island saw the town added to the city conurbation. Despite this, today New Dorp remains one of the main commercial and transport centers on Staten Island. New Dorp is often associated with the Vanderbilt family, who had a notable presence in the area and many of whom are buried in the neighborhood at the Moravian Cemetery, the largest and oldest active cemetery on Staten Island. New Dorp is part of Staten Island Community District 2 and its ZIP Code is 10306. New Dorp is patrolled by the 122nd Precinct of the New York City Police Department.

On December 16, 1960, a United Airlines Douglas DC-8 bound for Idlewild Airport (now John F. Kennedy International Airport) in New York City collided in midair with a TWA Lockheed L-1049 Super Constellation descending toward LaGuardia Airport. The Constellation crashed on Miller Field in Staten Island and the DC-8 in Park Slope, Brooklyn, killing all 128 aboard the two aircraft and six people on the ground. The accident was the world's deadliest aviation disaster at the time. The accident became known as the Park Slope plane crash or the Miller Field crash after the two crash sites. The accident was also the first hull loss and first fatal accident involving a Douglas DC-8.

The Church of Our Lady Queen of Peace is a parish church in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York, located at 90 Third Street in the New Dorp neighborhood of Staten Island, New York City. It was established on October 10, 1922, and the present church building was inaugurated on Christmas Eve, 1928.

New Dorp High School, commonly referred to as New Dorp or NDHS, is a public school in New Dorp on the East Shore of the New York City borough of Staten Island in the New Dorp neighborhood. The school is administered by the New York City Department of Education. The school is located at 465 New Dorp Lane next to Miller Field, an army airport turned park, which extends to the Lower New York Bay. New Dorp High School is located in Region 7, which encompasses all of Staten Island and portions of southwest Brooklyn.

Oakwood is a neighborhood located in east central Staten Island, New York City, near the South Shore. It is bordered by Tysens Lane (north); the Atlantic Ocean (east); Great Kills Park (south); Kensico Street, and Clarke Avenue (west).The neighborhood has a coastline on the Lower New York Bay; the coastal area is sometimes referred to as Oakwood Beach, and is the site of a sewage treatment facility. Bordering this facility on the south is the Staten Island Unit of the Gateway National Recreation Area, also known locally (and formerly, officially) as Great Kills Park. The Rose and Crown Tavern was a farmhouse and tavern located in New Dorp, Staten Island.

The Old Britton House was a house located on the western side of Amboy Road almost directly opposite of Tysens Lane in the New Dorp Beach section of Staten Island, New York. At one time, it was one of the oldest structures on Staten Island. Built between 1650 and 1680 by a Huguenot refugee, the house was the site of an Indian massacre, the headquarters for a Hessian commander during the American Revolutionary War, a smallpox hospital and a colonial courthouse. It was demolished in 1896 and the stones that formed the walls were crushed up into macadam.

Monsignor Farrell High School is an American Catholic high school for boys, located in the Oakwood section of Staten Island, New York. Opened in 1961, the school is named in honor of Monsignor Joseph Farrell, a Catholic priest, as well as a religious, political and community leader on Staten Island.

New York's 11th congressional district is a congressional district for the United States House of Representatives in New York City. The 11th district includes all of Staten Island and parts of southern Brooklyn, including the neighborhoods of Bay Ridge, Bath Beach, Dyker Heights, south western Gravesend, western Sheepshead Bay, and parts of southern Bensonhurst. The 11th district is currently represented by Republican Nicole Malliotakis, who is currently, along with George Santos of New York's 3rd district, one of only two Republicans that represent any part of New York City in Congress. Malliotakis was first elected in 2020, defeating one-term incumbent Democrat Max Rose. The district's character is very different from the rest of New York City. It is the only district in the city which leans towards the Republican Party in national elections, and the only one carried by Donald Trump in 2020, who won it with 55 percent of the vote to Democratic opponent Joe Biden's 44 percent.
