Rottenburg Cathedral

Rottenburg am Neckar (German: [ˈʁɔtn̩bʊʁk ʔam ˈnɛkaʁ] (listen); until 10 July 1964 only Rottenburg; Swabian: Raodaburg) is a medium-sized town in the administrative district (Landkreis) of Tübingen in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It lies about 50 kilometres (31 miles) southwest of the provincial capital Stuttgart and about 12 km (7 mi) southwest of the district town Tübingen. Rottenburg is the second-largest town of the district after Tübingen and makes up a secondary centre for the surrounding community. Since 1 May 1972, Rottenburg am Neckar has been a district town (Große Kreisstadt). Rottenburg agreed to an administrative collective with the municipalities of Hirrlingen, Neustetten and Starzach. Rottenburg is the seat of a Roman Catholic bishop, being the official centre of the diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart. Moreover, it has a college of church music and a university of applied sciences (German Fachhochschule), specialising in forestry.

The Rottenburg University of Applied Forest Sciences (in German: Hochschule für Forstwirschaft Rottenburg) is a Fachhochschule (university of applied sciences) in Rottenburg am Neckar, in the German state of Baden-Württemberg. The special profile of the university is the principle of sustainable development. In April 2008 the university was winner of the contest "Profile and Cooperation – excellence strategies for small and middle universities". The contest was announced by the "Founder's Organization for German Sciences" and the "Heinz Nixdorf Foundation". In 1954 the State of Baden-Württemberg founded a forestry school in Rottenburg am Neckar. In the 1970s the school was commuted to a vocational school of forestry. And finally in 1979 it was made a Fachhochschule (University of Applied Sciences). In the beginning the university served only as a training school for forest officers in the upper grade of the civil service of the states Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland. Since 1995 the university is publicly available.

The Bronnbach is a short river in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It flows into the Neckar near Rottenburg am Neckar. The source of the Bronnbach is a strong Karst spring. Its spring box is located completely in the municipal waterworks. On average, the karst spring discharges about 450 litres of water per second (max. 1180 L/s); its catchment area covers about 90 to 100 km². The part of the spring water that is not fed into the drinking water supply flows through a drain pipe into the original course of the Bronnbach stream. After a good 400 m , this stream flows into the Neckar in the left Neckar floodplain at the Bronnmühle. The Bronnbachspring now supplies the city centre, the districts of Seebronn and Hailfingen as well as Weiler and Bad Niedernau south of the Neckar
