Friars Walk is a partially under-cover shopping centre and leisure complex in Newport city centre, South Wales. It has several levels and includes a range of high street shops, eateries, a cinema, a bowling alley and a soft play area.

The Kingsway Shopping Centre is an under-cover shopping centre in Newport city centre, Wales. The northern pedestrian entrance is on John Frost Square adjoining the Friars Walk shopping and leisure complex. The east pedestrian entrance is off Commercial Street. The west pedestrian entrance is on Emlyn Street. The centre is a short walk from the high street shops of Commercial Street and High Street. Newport railway station is also a short walk away. The Kingsway car park on Emlyn Street has over 1000 spaces and the adjacent Friars Walk car park holds 350 cars, both accessed from the A4042 Kingsway. Kingsway Centre includes a range of high street chain and independent privately owned shops. It is adjoining Newport Museum, Art Gallery and Central Library and it is close to Newport bus station. Kingsway Centre underwent a refurbishment and extension during 2007 and 2008.In October 2014 the centre was bought by Bywater Properties and Queensberry Real Estate, the developers of Friars Walk.In December 2023 Niall Leighton-Boyce of Boyce Group purchased the centre after previous owners went into administration in May 2023.

Newport Centre was a leisure centre in Newport, South Wales. The Newport Centre was located in Newport city centre on the west bank of the River Usk adjacent to the Kingsway Shopping Centre. It held events such as concerts, international business conferences and art exhibitions. The centre hosted the Welsh Open snooker tournament from 1992 until 1998, and also from 2005 until 2014. The centre also had suites overlooking the leisure pool and elsewhere; The Riverside Suite, Castle Room, Kingsway Suite, Usk Room, Treetops Suite, and the Emlyn Rooms.

John Frost Square is a large public space in the centre of Newport, South Wales, named after the Chartist leader, John Frost. It was redeveloped as part of the Friars Walk shopping and leisure complex in 2014 and 2015. Major features on John Frost Square include the Newport Museum, Library and Art Gallery, the north entrance to Kingsway Shopping Centre and the headquarters of the Monmouthshire Building Society.

National Cycle Route 88 (or NCR 88) is a route of the National Cycle Network, running from Newport to its planned finish site at Margam.The full route planned will pass along the coast of South Wales, largely east–west from Newport to Cardiff and on to Margam via Bridgend, and in total may go on to stretch for 78 km (48 mi) in length. The route is so far formed by a mixture of some new paths, such as a boardwalk made of recycled material around Caerleon, stone paths through Newport city centre, and in other places public highways. On some linked paths such as canal paths, a hybrid or 'hard tail' mountain bike fitted with wide road tyres would be most suitable. Newport city centre and Cardiff are both easily reached on the rail network. Typically South Wales is more accessible through the canal paths heading up north into the valleys than east to west.

The Chartist Mural was a mosaic mural designed by Kenneth Budd and created in 1978 in a pedestrian underpass in Newport, Wales. It commemorated the Newport Rising of 1839, in which an estimated 22 demonstrators were killed by troops. It was 115 feet (35 m) long and 13 feet (4.0 m) high. The mural was demolished in 2013 amid considerable controversy and misinformation. The original decision to remove the artwork was taken in 2005 by the Labour Controlled Council to allow Modus development company to build the Friars Walk shopping centre. Modus were removed by the Conservative/Lib Dem coalition Council after taking control in 2008 and replaced with Queensbury Development Company Friars Walk.

Newport Central bus station (Welsh: Gorsaf fysiau Canol Casnewydd) is a bus terminus and interchange located in the city centre, Newport, South Wales. It is the largest road transport hub for public services in the county. It is situated on the Newport Market site and the adjacent Friars Walk site.

Newport City footbridge is a pedestrian/cycle bridge over the River Usk in the city of Newport, South Wales. The bridge links the east bank of the river in the vicinity of Rodney Parade stadium to University Plaza on the west bank. It was the first major public project in Newport Unlimited's plans to regenerate the city. It won a British Constructional Steelwork Association award; the 2007 George Gibby Award from the Institution of Civil Engineers in Wales; a Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors award for regeneration in Wales, and a highly commended from Wales Business Insider for their best regeneration project of 2007.

The Riverfront (Welsh: Glan yr Afon) is the principal and newest theatre and arts centre in the City of Newport. It is located on the west bank of the River Usk on the Bristol Packet Wharf in the city centre. Designed by architectural firm Austin-Smith:Lord, the centre was opened on 23 October 2004.
