As of April 1, 2016 the garden has closed. The Botanischer Garten der Universität des Saarlandes (2.5 hectares) is a botanical garden maintained by Saarland University. It is located on the university campus in Saarbrücken, Saarland, Germany, and is open Monday through Thursday, and Sunday in the warmer months, without charge. The garden was founded in 1952 and currently contains about 2500 plant species, varieties, and hybrids. It contains greenhouses (1200 m²) as well as a medicinal plant museum of some 2500 accessions representing approximately 1000 taxa that illustrate the basic principles of various healing systems from around the world, including the traditional Indian system (Ayurveda), Chinese medicine, and African and Native American medicine and homeopathy.

The Europa-Institut was founded at Saarland University in 1951, before the signing of the Treaties of Rome, and is the second oldest institution focused on European Integration (after the College of Europe, Bruges, Belgium). More than 5,000 students from all over the world have since graduated from the Institute. Having built on the content of its study program continuously and adapted to developments on the European level over time, the Europa-Institut today focuses on European law and international law with the possibility of specialization in specific study units.

Saarland University (German: Universität des Saarlandes, pronounced [univɛʁziˈtɛːt dɛs ˈzaːɐ̯landəs]) is a public research university located in Saarbrücken, the capital of the German state of Saarland. It was founded in 1948 in Homburg in co-operation with France and is organized in six faculties that cover all major fields of science. In 2007, the university was recognized as an excellence center for computer science in Germany. Thanks to bilingual German and French staff, the university has an international profile, which has been underlined by its proclamation as "European University" in 1950 and by establishment of Europa-Institut as its "crown and symbol" in 1951. Nine academics have been honored with the highest German research prize, the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize, while working at Saarland University.

The Max Planck Institute for Informatics (German: Max-Planck-Institut für Informatik, abbreviated MPI-INF or MPII) is a research institute in computer science with a focus on algorithms and their applications in a broad sense. It hosts fundamental research (algorithms and complexity, programming logics) as well a research for various application domains (computer graphics, geometric computation, constraint solving, computational biology). It is part of the Max-Planck-Gesellschaft, Germany's largest publicly funded body for foundation research.

The Brennender Berg (Burning Mountain) is a natural monument located in a deep and narrow gorge between Dudweiler and Sulzbach in Saarland, Germany. It is a smouldering coal-seam fire that ignited in 1668 and continues to burn today.

Sulzbach (Saar) station is, along with (Saar)-Altenwald station, one of two stations in the town of Sulzbach in the German state of Saarland. Deutsche Bahn classifies it as belonging to category 5 and it has two platform tracks. The station is located in the network of the Saarländischer Verkehrsverbund (Saarland transport association, saarVV).

Sulzbach is a town and a municipality in the district of Saarbrücken, in Saarland, Germany with a population of 16,215 (as of Dec 2015). It is situated approximately 10 km (6 mi) northeast of Saarbrücken. Following reforms of the regional government in 1974, Schnappach, previously part of St. Ingbert, was incorporated by Sulzbach.

Quierschied is a municipality in the district of Saarbrücken, in Saarland, Germany. It is situated approximately 11 km northeast of the city of Saarbrücken.

The Saarbrücken Zoo (German: Zoologischer Garten der Landeshauptstadt Saarbrücken) is with over 200.000 visitors annually, and over 1.700 animals from 160 Species the largest Zoo in Saarland. The Zoo is specialized in African animals.
