Derby Line–Stanstead Border Crossing

Derby Line is an incorporated village in the town of Derby in Orleans County, Vermont, United States, slightly north of the 45th parallel, the nominal U.S.-Canada boundary. The population was 687 at the 2020 census.The village is located on the Canada–United States border and is contiguous with the district of Rock Island in the town of Stanstead, Quebec. Notable buildings include the Haskell Free Library and Opera House.

The Haskell Free Library and Opera House (French: Bibliothèque et salle d'opéra Haskell) is a Victorian building that straddles the Canada–United States border, in Rock Island (now part of Stanstead), Quebec, and Derby Line, Vermont, respectively. The Opera House opened on June 7, 1904, having deliberately been built on the international border. It was declared a heritage building by both countries in the 1970s and 1980s. The library has two different addresses: 93 Caswell Avenue, Derby Line, Vermont, and 1 rue Church (Church Street), Stanstead, Quebec.

Stanstead College is an English-language independent boarding school in Stanstead, Quebec, Canada, for boys and girls in Grades 7 through 12. The school is located on a 600-acre (2.4 km2) campus in Quebec's Eastern Townships – just north of the Canada–United States border – and enrolls approximately 265 students. The school was established in 1872 as Stanstead Wesleyan College. The school was founded as a co-educational school. In 1959 it became 'boys only.' In 1979, the school returned to its original co-educational status.

Stanstead is a town in the Memphrémagog Regional County Municipality in the Estrie region of Quebec, located on the Canada–United States border across from Derby Line, Vermont. The Town of Stanstead was created in 1995 by the merger of the former villages of Stanstead Plain and Beebe (formerly Beebe Plain) and the Town of Rock Island. It is not to be confused with the township of Stanstead, which is nearby although not directly adjacent (the municipality of Ogden lies in between). The Derby Line–Rock Island Border Crossing is a road crossing that connects the town of Stanstead, Quebec with Derby Line, Vermont on the Canada–United States border. It is where Interstate 91 intersects with Quebec Autoroute 55. While there historically have been many roads that have connected these two communities along the border, this particular crossing was established in 1965 with the completion of this section Interstate 91. Since 2009, barricades have been erected on Church Street, Lee Street and Ball Street to prevent people from crossing the border at locations where border inspection services are not present, forcing locals to cross at this crossing, or at the Derby Line–Stanstead Border Crossing to the west.

Canusa Street (French: rue Canusa) is a road part of Quebec Route 247. The road primarily runs east-west, connecting Rue Principale to the west and Rue Railroad to the east. A particular 0.38 mi (0.61 km) long stretch of Canusa Street runs along the 45th parallel north, which defines the Canada–United States border. On this stretch of road, the middle yellow line defines the international border and separates Beebe Plain, Vermont, in the United States, from the Beebe Plain area of Stanstead, Quebec, in Canada. This characteristic contributes to the road's name and unique living dynamics for its residents.

WMOO (92.1 FM) (also known as "Moo 92") is an adult top 40 formatted radio station broadcasting from Derby Center, Vermont, United States. It is owned by Vermont Broadcast Associates, Inc. The station's main transmitter is near the intersection of Hidden Pines Drive and Nelson Hill Road in the town of Derby, approximately 1.5 mi (2 km) south of the border with Quebec, Canada, allowing a city-grade signal as far north as Magog and a coverage area extending to north of Sherbrooke. It was rebroadcast on W257AU 99.3 in St. Johnsbury, until the translator's license was cancelled by the Federal Communications Commission on August 8, 2017.The station broadcasts a weekday morning program The Moo 92 Wake Up Crew. The show is sometimes broadcast from local nursing homes, food shelves, and local fire departments. The syndicated but live, Liveline with Mason Kelter currently airs every weeknight. WMOO, along with 29 other Nassau Broadcasting Partners stations in northern New England, was purchased at bankruptcy auction by Carlisle Capital Corporation, a company controlled by Bill Binnie (owner of WBIN-TV in Derry, New Hampshire), on May 22, 2012. The station, and 12 of the other stations, were then acquired by Vertical Capital Partners, controlled by Jeff Shapiro. Soon after taking over, Vertical resold WMOO and WIKE to Vermont Broadcast Associates.The sale of WMOO and the other 12 stations was consummated on November 30, 2012, at a purchase price of $4.4 million. The resale of WMOO and WIKE was consummated on January 1, 2013, at a purchase price of $760,000. The station is the #2 rated station in the Montpelier/Barre/Saint Johnsbury market, despite having a non-existent signal in Montpelier and Barre. It is the de facto top 40 station in the Saint Johnsbury and Newport, Vermont regions, and the only English pop station audible in Estrie.

The village is divided by the Canada–United States border between Canada and the United States; the Canadian portion of Beebe Plain had the status of an incorporated municipality in its own right until 1995.

Beebe Plain is an unincorporated geographically-contiguous settlement, split politically between Canada and the United States. An unincorporated village partially in Stanstead and partially in Derby Line, it is divided by the Quebec-Vermont border.
