The Carl Robinson Correctional Institution is a Connecticut Department of Correction state prison for men located in Enfield, Connecticut. The facility was opened in 1985 for medium-security inmates with a capacity of 880.Robinson is one of a cluster of five state prisons in the immediate area, northeast of Enfield and under a mile from the Massachusetts state line. The others are Enfield Correctional Institution (inmate population 717), Willard-Cybulski Correctional Institution, Northern Correctional Institution, and Osborn Correctional Institution. It was announced in 2017 that the Enfield Correctional Institute would close in early 2018 due to reduced inmate population statewide; most staff members in the staff of 190 were reassigned.Robinson was the scene of two escapes in 1990, an extensive prison riot in June 1990, when 300 to 400 inmates set fire to the mess hall and gymnasium, and a worse riot on July 12, 1994. Members of the "20 Love" gangs from Hartford and New Haven clashed with Bridgeport gangs over the use of washing machines. The fight escalated and resulted in two inmate deaths, 35 detainees injured, two correctional officers injured, and all six of Robinson's dorm buildings under control of inmates for at least an hour. Overcrowding 1075 prisoners into a facility built for 880 was identified as a contributing factor.

The Willard-Cybulski Correctional Institution is a medium-security state prison for men in Enfield, Hartford County, Connecticut, owned and operated by the Connecticut Department of Correction. It houses a maximum of 1165 inmates.The facility is the result of a 1997 merger of two previous institutions: the Willard Correctional Institution opened 1990, and the Cybulski Correctional Institution opened 1993. Willard-Cybulski is also one of a cluster of five state prisons in the immediate area, northeast of Enfield and under a mile from the Massachusetts state line. The others are: Robinson Correctional Institution, Enfield Correctional Institution (inmate population 717), Northern Correctional Institution, and Osborn Correctional Institution. Governor Ned Lamont announced the closure of the Willard Correctional Institution citing an inmate decline of 44% of prisoners between 2012 and 2022.

The Osborn Correctional Institution (OCI), formerly known as the Connecticut Correctional Institution – Somers, is a medium-security state prison that includes a high-security mental health unit for men of the Connecticut Department of Correction located in Somers, Connecticut. It has capacity of 1900 inmates, making it amongst the largest prisons in the state and one of the oldest operational facilities in Connecticut. It housed the state's execution chamber until 2015, when capital punishment was declared unconstitutional. It also housed male death row inmates until 1995 when they were transferred to the nearby Northern Correctional Institution.

Enrico Fermi High School (defunct) was a high school located in Enfield, Connecticut, and closed when it consolidated with Enfield High School in 2016. The Enrico Fermi name was transferred to a wing of the Enfield High School building, and the original building is now known as the Enfield Municipal Annex.

Scantic River State Park is a public recreation area consisting of several separated parcels totaling 784 acres (317 ha) along the Scantic River in the towns of Enfield, East Windsor, and Somers, Connecticut. The state park is suitable for hiking, fishing, and hunting and is managed by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

Hazardville is a section of the town of Enfield, Connecticut, in Hartford County. It is a census-designated place (CDP) that had a total population of 4,599 as of the 2010 census.

The Swetland-Pease House is a historic house at 191 Pease Road in East Longmeadow, Massachusetts. Probably built about 1793, it is one of a small number of surviving 18th-century houses in the town, and is one of its best-preserved. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

The Somersville Historic District encompasses the historic components of the mill village of Somersville in western Somers, Connecticut, United States. The district is centered on a mill complex on the Scantic River, which divides the district. The most significant years of development were between about 1835 and 1935, although the area has a history (and surviving structures) dating to the 1760s. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995. The Mill itself has since burned down and as of October 2018 is currently open field, although the canal structure remains in place.

The Magic Carpet Bus is a local bus service in Enfield, Connecticut. The system operates two routes in downtown Enfield and provides transfer to CT Transit service to Hartford. ADA paratransit is also operated as part of the Magic Carpet system within .75 miles of its routes. Starting in the 1990s Enfield had local bus service in the form of PVTA Route Red 16, which originated in Springfield and continued down to Enfield center and Asnuntuck Community College. In 2002 the route was cancelled, as the town of Enfield was unable to pay the $70,000 PVTA required of it that year. Between 2002 and 2012 Enfield was served by only two public bus routes. One route was run by CT Transit (Route 5; now 905) and the other by PVTA (Route G5), with both meeting at the Enfield MassMutual office. With a grant from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development received by the Capitol Region Council of Governments, a report regarding public transport in Enfield was created in 2012. From this report, it was concluded that two local bus routes be created, each following a similar route in opposing directions of one another. Magic Carpet service began in January 2013 and operates on two routes, the Blue Line and the Yellow Line. Blue Line service typically begins at 7 AM and ends at 11 PM and Yellow Line service typically begins at 7:30 AM and ends at 6:30 PM, Monday through Friday. The Blue Line also operates 7 AM to 9 PM on Saturday.

The Elijah Burt House is a historic house at 201 Chestnut Street in East Longmeadow, Massachusetts. Built sometime between 1720 and 1740, it is believed to be the oldest surviving building in the town, and a station on the Underground Railroad. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.

Enfield is a town in Hartford County, Connecticut, United States, first settled by John and Robert Pease of Salem, Massachusetts Bay Colony. The town is part of the Capitol Planning Region. The population was 42,141 at the 2020 census. It is bordered by Longmeadow, Massachusetts, and East Longmeadow, Massachusetts, to the north, Somers to the east, East Windsor and Ellington to the south, and the Connecticut River (towns of Suffield and Windsor Locks) to the west.
