Wrocław Cathedral

The Archdiocese of Wrocław (Polish: Archidiecezja wrocławska; German: Erzbistum Breslau; Czech: Arcidiecéze vratislavská; Latin: Archidioecesis Vratislaviensis) is a Latin Church ecclesiastical territory or archdiocese of the Catholic Church centered in the city of Wrocław in Poland. From its founding as a bishopric in 1000 until 1821, it was under the Archbishopric of Gniezno in Greater Poland. From 1821 to 1930 it was subjected directly to the Apostolic See. Between 1821 and 1972 it was officially known as (Arch)Diocese of Breslau.

Ostrów Tumski (Polish pronunciation: [ˈɔstruf ˈtumski], lit. 'Cathedral Island', German: Dominsel) is the oldest part of the city of Wrocław in south-western Poland. It was formerly an island (ostrów in Old Polish language) between branches of the Oder River.

Collegiate Church of the Holy Cross and St. Bartholomew (Polish: Kolegiata Świętego Krzyża i św. Bartłomieja) in Wrocław, Poland, is a two-storey brick Gothic collegiate church on the Ostrów Tumski (Cathedral Island), considered the second most important Roman Catholic church in Wrocław. It is one the historic burial sites of Polish monarchs. Along with the Old Town of Wrocław, it is listed as a Historic Monument of Poland.

The Botanical Garden of the University of Wrocław is a botanical garden in Wrocław founded in 1811 in the area of Ostrów Tumski. The garden was established for medical students at the local university. During the Napoleonic Wars, the garden was damaged after the city fortifications were destroyed. Part of the garden featured a branch off the Odra river and was filled in during the conflict, but has since been restored as a large lily pond. It is the second oldest garden of this type in Poland, after the garden in Kraków. In 1974 it was listed as a protected monument in Lower Silesia, since 1994 it was included in the protected historical city center.

The Museum of Natural History, University of Wrocław is a large natural history museum at the University of Wrocław, in Wrocław, Poland. The museums insect collections include: Friedrich Wilhelm Niepelt's collection of exotic butterflies (South America, Sunda Archipelago and tropical Africa) Johann Ludwig Christian Gravenhorst, Ichneumonidae Rudolph Dittrich, Hymenoptera Max Wiskott, Palaearctic Lepidoptera Jan Noskiewicz, Hymenoptera Hermann Julius Kolbe, Coleoptera Jadwiga Zlotorzycka, Mallophaga August Assmann, Hemiptera, Palaearctic Lepidoptera.

The National Museum in Wrocław (Polish: Muzeum Narodowe we Wrocławiu), established 28 March 1947 and officially inaugurated on 11 July 1948, is one of Poland's main branches of the National Museum system. It holds one of the largest collections of contemporary art in the country.

The Silesian Museum of Fine Arts in Breslau (German: Schlesisches Museum für bildende Künste in Breslau) was an art museum located on Museum Square in Breslau, Prussia. The museum was operating from 1880 to 1945, when it burned down after the bombing.

The Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław (Polish: Akademia Sztuk Pięknych im. Eugeniusza Gepperta we Wrocławiu) is a public institution of higher learning established in 1946 originally as the College of Fine Arts. From 2008 the university bears the name of Polish master-painter Eugeniusz Geppert.

Tumski Bridge (Polish: Most Tumski) is a steel bridge over the north branch of the Oder river in Wrocław, Poland. Constructed in 1889 it replaced an old wooden bridge to connect Ostrów Tumski and Wyspa Piaskowa. Until 1945, its name was Dombrücke. It is an old road bridge now open to pedestrians only. Tumski Bridge is also called Lovers Bridge, Cathedral Bridge or Green Bridge. It's a place of enamoured tradition for lovers. The bridge is full of love locks which lovers leave to cherish their feelings. An important part of the ceremony is to throw the key into the Odra river. In 1992 it was comprehensively renovated. During the renovation the original deck covering of Zores sections was replaced by an orthotropic deck.

Peace Bridge ((in Polish) Most Pokoju) is located in Wrocław, Poland and was built from 1954 to 1959. It spans over 124 metres and was designed by professor Jan Kmita. At first it was known as Wojewódzki Bridge, but was renamed the "Peace Bridge" in 1966. Before World War II, there was another bridge in the same place, named after the German philosopher and poet Gotthold Ephraim Lessing ("Lessingbrücke"). It was made of iron, built in 1875, and lasted until 1945, when it was bombarded during the Siege of Breslau. Currently, the bridge is used both for pedestrian and road traffic and is an important link between the Northern and Southern parts of Wrocław.

The Racławice Panorama (Polish: Panorama Racławicka) is a monumental (15 × 114 meter) cycloramic painting depicting the Battle of Racławice, during the Kościuszko Uprising. It is located in Wrocław, Poland. The painting is one of only a few preserved relics of a genre of 19th-century mass culture, and the oldest in Poland. The panorama stands in a circular fashion and, with the viewer in the center, presents different scenes at various viewing angles. A special kind of perspective used in the painting and additional effects (lighting, artificial terrain) create a feeling of reality.

The Church of St. Mary on the Sand (Polish: Kościół Najświętszej Marii Panny na Piasku, German: Kirche Unserer lieben Frau auf dem Sande, Sandkirche) is a Catholic church in Wrocław, in Silesia, located on a small island in the Oder River, in the heart of the city. Founded in the 12th century, it is one of the oldest Gothic churches in the country.
