Mettawa is a village in Lake County, Illinois, United States. Per the 2020 census, the population was 533. The village maintains trails for pedestrian, bicycle and equestrian usage. Five forest preserves of the Lake County Forest Preserve District are located within village boundaries.

It was developed by Urban Investment and Development Co, and anchor stores Sears and Marshall Field & Company (now Macy's) as part of New Century Town, a community with 5,000 condominiums and townhomes planned at the time. The mall features JCPenney, and Macy's, in addition to a Dave & Buster's and a 12-screen AMC Theatres.

The Cuneo Mansion and Gardens are a historic home, art collection and gardens in Vernon Hills, Illinois, built in 1914 and designed by architect Benjamin Marshall of Marshall & Fox. The mansion's first owner was Samuel Insull, an original founder of the General Electric Company. John Cuneo, Sr. purchased the mansion in 1937 after the collapse of the Insull utility empire. Cuneo is best known as the founder of the Cuneo Press and Hawthorn Mellody Dairy. Cuneo had the interior of the Mansion painted with murals from Chicago Ecclesiological Muralist John Mallin. In 2009, the house was donated to Loyola University Chicago.

The Lloyd Lewis House in Libertyville, Illinois is a Usonian house designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and built in 1939. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. The client for this house was the editor of the Chicago Daily News. This is a two-story house located near the Des Plaines River.

It operates a single library in Lincolnshire. The Vernon Area Public Library offers access to nearly 200,000 physical items, along with programming and instruction for all ages. The library also delivers materials to senior centers in the area.The Vernon Area Public Library was counted among America's Star Libraries for 2010, 2011, and 2013 as named by Library Journal.

WAES (88.1 FM) was a high school radio station licensed to Lincolnshire, Illinois, United States. It was branded "Stevenson Patriot Radio," a name reflective of both the school's name and mascot. It was owned and operated by Adlai E. Stevenson High School and was run by students of the high school. Its license expired December 1, 2020.

Vernon Hills station is an A-Framed structure with an analog clock tower emerging from the right slope. The canopy on the platform is also an A-Framed structure. As of December 12, 2022, Vernon Hills is served by all 14 trains (seven in each direction) on weekdays.

Conway Farms Golf Club is a private golf club in the central United States, located in west Lake Forest, Illinois, a suburb north of Chicago. Designed by Tom Fazio, the course opened for play 32 years ago in 1991 and is notable for having hosted numerous amateur championship tournaments since 1997 as well as the PGA Tour's BMW Championship in 2013, 2015, and 2017, part of the season-ending FedEx Cup playoffs in September. Luke Donald held the course record of 61 at Conway Farms for almost five years until 2013, when Jim Furyk shot a 59 during the second round of the BMW Championship on September 13; it was the sixth 59 in tour history.
