Uphall

Uphall railway station serves the village of Uphall Station and some areas of Livingston in West Lothian, Scotland. It is located on the North Clyde Line, 12½ miles (20 km) west of Edinburgh.

Uphall Station is a village located in West Lothian, Scotland. The name is derived from the neighbouring town Uphall on account of the railway station located on the northeast perimeter of the village. The village is situated southeast of Uphall and Broxburn, north of Pumpherston and northeast of Livingston. It lies approximately a quarter of a mile from the A89, which is a major road running between Greenock in the west of Scotland and Edinburgh in the east of Scotland. A gala day (an outdoor fête) is held annually, usually in June.

Ecclesmachan (Gaelic: Eaglais Mhachain) (Welsh: Eglwys Machan) (NT058736) is an historic village in West Lothian. It lies just north of Uphall on the B8046 road. The village is notable for its medieval origin parish church. As at 2001, the population of the civil parish of Ecclesmachan was 529 and was 811 in 1991.

West Lothian (Scots: Wast Lowden; Scottish Gaelic: Lodainn an Iar) is one of the 32 council areas of Scotland, and was one of its historic counties. The county was called Linlithgowshire until 1925. The historic county was bounded geographically by the Avon to the west and the Almond to the east. The modern council area occupies a larger area than the historic county. It was reshaped following local government reforms in 1975: some areas in the west were transferred to Falkirk; some areas in the east were transferred to Edinburgh; and some areas that had formerly been part of in Midlothian were added to West Lothian. The old county town was the royal burgh of Linlithgow, but the largest town (and the second largest town in the Lothian region after Edinburgh) is now Livingston. Other large towns in the county include Bathgate (a town with medieval origins that developed extensively during the industrial revolution) and the historic mining settlements of Armadale, Fauldhouse, Whitburn, West Calder, Uphall, and Broxburn.

The A899 is a road in West Lothian, Scotland, connecting Broxburn to Livingston. It runs from a junction with the A89 at the East Mains Industrial Estate, through Broxburn town centre and along to Uphall, where it turns south to the Dechmont Roundabout (meeting the A89 again) then the Deer Park Roundabout serving Junction 3 of the M8 motorway. From that point it becomes a dual carriageway running through the town of Livingston, passing through the districts of Knightsridge, Houston Industrial Estate, Ladywell (where there is a cloverleaf interchange with the A705), Howden and Craigshill, before a junction for Livingston Town Centre, after which it runs past Dedridge to its terminus at the Lizzie Brice Roundabout, meeting the A71.

Our Lady's High School, Broxburn was a former Roman Catholic High School located in the western part of Broxburn, West Lothian in Scotland. The student occupied its former premises beginning in 1969. It was a state-funded high school that educated Roman Catholic students mainly from the areas of Broxburn, Uphall, Uphall Station and Winchburgh. In 1983, the school had 400 students; prior to its closure there were about 100 students. The school's motto was 'Respice Stellam', Latin for look to the stars.

Knightsridge (Scots: Knichtsrig) is an area of Livingston in West Lothian, Scotland. Knightsridge lies to the north of the town.

Dechmont (Gaelic: Deagh Mhonadh) is a small village located near Uphall, West Lothian in Scotland. Bangour Village Hospital is located to the west of Dechmont. It has an approximate population of 989 people. Its postal code is EH52. An alleged alien encounter took place in 1979 in the nearby Dechmont Woods.The village has a small infant/primary school providing learning for pre-school through to primary three pupils. Pumpherston is a village in West Lothian, Scotland. Originally a small industrial village housing works for the nearby shale mine and works, it now forms the eastern part of the new town of Livingston, which was constructed to the west of Pumpherston in the late 1960s and quickly grew to incorporate Pumpherston in its wider urban settlement, as defined by the General Register Office for Scotland (GROS). The village of Uphall Station lies immediately to the north. It is twinned with the village of Mtarfa, Malta.

Inveralmond Community High School is an 11–18, mixed comprehensive school in the Ladywell area of Livingston and serves a cluster of six primary schools. The school roll is currently 1105. Ian Colquhoun, disabled author and historian, attended Inveralmond from 1992 to 1994, as part of the intake of students following closure of Craigshill High School.

Threemiletown is a village in West Lothian, Scotland. The settlement sits north of Ecclesmachan and west of Winchburgh.
