J. Lindsay Barn

Mermaid Tavern is a historic home located at Newark, New Castle County, Delaware. The original section was built about 1725, and is a two-story, stuccoed stone structure with frame additions. The frame additions were built about 1750 and early 19th century. It has served not only as a tavern, but also as a polling place and as a post office.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

R. Walker Barn is a historic barn located near Newark, New Castle County, Delaware. It was built about 1835, and is a tri-level or double decker, frame structure on a stuccoed stone foundation with an original straw shed and bridge house. It has a two level shed-roofed addition and a gable-roofed, two level wing. It features a gable roof with a late-19th century louvered cupola.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

Thomas McKean High School is a comprehensive public high school located on 301 McKennan's Church Road in unincorporated New Castle County, Delaware, with a Wilmington postal address. It is a part of the Red Clay Consolidated School District. The school opened in December 1966, and its first class graduated in June 1967. McKean serves, in addition to portions of Wilmington, Elsmere, and portions of Pike Creek and Hockessin. A sliver of Pike Creek Valley coincides with the McKean zone.

Sanford School is a private school for co-ed students in PreK through high school, located on a spacious, teaching campus in Hockessin, Delaware. Originally known as "Sunny Hills School", it was founded on September 23, 1930, by Sanford and Ellen Sawin, in memory of their eldest son Sanford Sawin, Jr. The school's name was changed to Sanford in 1966, 50 years after his death. Sanford School maintains a 100% college acceptance rate for its students, made possible by its hands-on faculty. The student to teacher ratio is set at 12:1, with average class sizes of 15 students. Sanford School is a college preparatory school and maintains a 100% percent college acceptance rate. Sanford competes in interscholastic sports as a member of the Delaware Independent School Conference. They have made history by winning both girls and boys basketball State Championships in 2010 and 2011, the first school to have done so in the history of Delaware. The Sanford school song was written by Frank Stephens of Arden, Delaware.

Pike Creek is a census-designated place (CDP) in New Castle County, Delaware, United States and is part of the Philadelphia-Camden-Wilmington, PA-NJ-DE-MD Metropolitan statistical area. In 2007, CNN's Money Magazine ranked Pike Creek number 79 on its list of the 100 Best Places to Live in the United States. Pike Creek was the only community in Delaware to appear on the list. The population was 7,898 at the 2010 census. Local attractions include Middle Run Natural Area, White Clay Creek State Park, Carousel Farm Park & Equestrian Center, Golf and Restaurants. Pike Creek is approximately five miles from downtown Newark, which contains the University of Delaware. Pike Creek is connected to the University of Delaware campus and the [Newark downtown area by several bike trails. Pike Creek is approximately 10 miles west of the state's largest city, Wilmington, which is a national financial center.

Montgomery House is a historic home located near Wilmington, New Castle County, Delaware. It was built in 1789, and is a two- to three-story, three bay wide, gable roofed, Penn Plan banked dwelling of uncoursed fieldstone. It has a two-story frame addition at the south side of the house that dates from the 1950s. Also on the property are a contributing frame stable and a small frame well house.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

The John Dickinson School, previously known as John Dickinson High School, is a public high school in the Pike Creek area of Wilmington, Delaware. It is one of five high schools in the Red Clay Consolidated School District and serves parts of Newport, Stanton, Hockessin, Wilmington, North Star, Pike Creek, Pike Creek Valley, Baynard Boulevard, and Brandywine Village.

Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church, also known as McKennan's Church, is a historic Presbyterian church located at Mill Creek and McKennan's Church Roads near Newark, New Castle County, Delaware. It was built in 1853, and is a two-story, stuccoed stone structure. It was originally rectangular in plan, but additions have given it an irregular cruciform shape. It features a colonnaded porch in the Greek Revival style with a fanlight and an enclosed vestibule. The south wall incorporates a date stone from the original church building, marked "WM 1761".It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

J. McDaniel Farm is a historic farm located near Newark, New Castle County, Delaware. The property included three contributing buildings. They are a stone house (1826), a stone and frame tri-level barn (c. 1826), and a braced frame outbuilding, used as a garage. The house is a two-story, five bay, gable-roofed, stuccoed stone structure. The barn has a frame upper level and a stone lower level.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. The barn has since been torn down, but the house and garage remain intact.

Brackenville is an unincorporated community in New Castle County, Delaware, United States. Brackenville is located at the intersection of Brackenville Road and Old Wilmington Road, east of Hockessin.In 1809, William Brackend bought land along the road running from Wilmington to Lancaster. With the opening of the Wilmington Turnpike (Lancaster Pike) in 1818, he opened a hotel named the "Peace and Plenty". The hotel stood on the northwest corner of Old Lancaster Pike and Brackenville Road; it was demolished before 1937.
