Ford, West Sussex

Ford railway station is a railway station in Ford, West Sussex, England. It is located on the West Coastway Line which runs between Brighton and Southampton and it is 60 miles 48 chains (97.5 km) down the line from London Bridge via Redhill. The station and the trains serving it are operated by Southern.

HM Prison Ford (informally known as Ford Open Prison) is a Category D men's prison, located at Ford, in West Sussex, England, near Arundel and Littlehampton. The prison is operated by His Majesty's Prison Service.

Climping (also spelt as Clymping) is a village and civil parish containing agricultural and natural sandy land in the Arun District of West Sussex, England. The parish also contains the coastal hamlet of Atherington. It is three miles (5 km) west of Littlehampton, just north of the A259 road.

Tortington is a small village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Arundel, in the Arun district of West Sussex, England. It lies between the Arundel to Ford and the Arundel to Chichester roads, 1.6 miles (2.6 km) southwest of Arundel. In 1961 the parish had a population of 617. On 1 April 1985 the parish was abolished and merged with Arundel, Ford, Slindon and Walberton.

St Mary Magdalene's Church is the former Anglican parish church of the hamlet of Tortington in the district of Arun, one of seven local government districts in the English county of West Sussex. Founded in the 12th century to serve a priory and villagers in the riverside location, it has experienced little change despite a 19th-century restoration. Its ancient chancel arch and doorway have remarkable carvings with "grotesque, boggle-eyed monsters", rare beakhead figures and chevron ornamentation. Standing in a picturesque setting behind a farm, the flint and Caen stone building was used for worship until 1978, when it was declared redundant. It is now cared for by the Churches Conservation Trust, and English Heritage has listed it at Grade II for its architectural and historical importance. The church is dedicated to Jesus's companion Mary Magdalene.

Bailiffscourt Chapel is a deconsecrated chapel in the grounds of Bailiffscourt Hotel, a luxury hotel near the hamlet of Atherington in West Sussex, England. Originally associated with the Norman Abbey of Séez, it was founded in the 11th century and rebuilt in its present simple Gothic form in the 13th century. It later fell out of use, but after Atherington's former church was destroyed by coastal erosion it was used again for public worship for a time—and as late as 1952 the building was again in use as a chapel of ease. Situated outside Bailiffscourt—a mock-medieval mansion built in 1935 by Lord Moyne on the site of an ancient manor house—on the only stretch of open seafront land for miles in each direction, the chapel is now used principally for wedding and civil ceremony blessings. English Heritage has listed it at Grade II* for its architectural and historical importance.

Climping Beach is a 32.1-hectare (79-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest west of Littlehampton in West Sussex. The eastern half is designated a Local Nature Reserve called West Beach.This stretch of shoreline has sand dunes at the back with a vegetated shingle beach, which is a nationally uncommon habitat, in front. The intertidal zone has soft muds and sands with many invertebrates, which are an important source of food for wintering birds, especially sanderling.

Bognor Regis and Littlehampton (contemp. RP [/ˈbɒɡnə ɹʷiːd͡ʒɪs ænd lɪtl̩hæmptn̩/, /-æmtn̩/]) is a constituency in West Sussex represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 1997 by Nick Gibb, a Conservative.

Yapton is a village and civil parish in the Arun District of West Sussex, England. It is centred three miles (4.8 km) north east of Bognor Regis at the intersection of the B2132 and B2233 roads. The parish of Yapton lies on the coastal plain south west of Arundel, between the South Downs and the sea. St Mary the Virgin parish church, 13th century or earlier in origin, is in the centre of the village. It houses a twelfth-century font. Nearby, Yapton Free Church was built in 1861 as a Congregational chapel but is now Evangelical in character. Yapton C of E Primary School was founded in 1864.Other settlements in the parish include Bilsham and Flansham. The settlement of Bilsham was listed in the Domesday Book of 1086 as having 14 households. Bilsham Chapel is a deconsecrated former chapel of ease to St Mary the Virgin Church; it dates from the 13th–14th century but fell out of use in the mid-16th century. The building is now a house.
