The Birnhorn (2,634 m) is an isolated mountain in the Leoganger Steinberge, Northern Limestone Alps, Austria.

The Leogang Mountains (German: Leoganger Steinberge, lit. "Leogang Rock Mountains") are a mountain range in Austria in the state of Salzburg and form part of the Northern Limestone Alps within the Eastern Alps. They are located between the Lofer valley, Saalfelden and Leogang and, together with the Lofer Mountains to the northwest, form two mountain massifs that are separated by the saddle of the Römersattel (1,202 m), but which the Alpine categorisation of the Eastern Alps defines as a single sub-group (the Lofer and Leogang Mountains). The Leogang Mountains are separated from the Kitzbühel Alps to the south and the Steinernes Meer to the east by deeply incised valleys. Typical of the Steinberge are high plateaux with steep sides and sharply undulating high cirques. As typical karst mountains the Leogang Mountains are also pierced by numerous caves. The most famous of these is the Lamprechtsofen, over 50 km long, located immediately next to the federal road between Lofer and Saalfelden. A prominent rock formation is the Melkerloch in the southeastern face of the Birnhorn mountain. At 2,634 metres (8,642 ft) the Birnhorn is the highest peak in the range. The Hochfilzen Military Training Area used by the Austrian Army lies in the west of the Leoganger Steinberge.

Leogang is a municipality in the district of Zell am See (Pinzgau region), in the state of Salzburg in Austria. It is a famous winter sports and summer mountain hiking resort.

Viehhofen is a municipality in the district of Zell am See (Pinzgau region), in the state of Salzburg in Austria.The town lies at an elevation of 856 m above sea level in the middle of Glemmtal Valley, through which flows the River Saalach. The valley's main town is our western neighbor, Saalbach-Hinterglemm. To the east, at the entrance to the valley, you will find the village of Maishofen. The valley is flanked by the Kitzbühel Alps, better known here as the "Pinzgau Grass Mountains". The following mountains surround the village: to our SW, the Oberer Gernkogel (elev. 2,175 m) - highest point in Viehhofen to our SE, the Schmittenhöhe (1,965 m) to our NE, the Sausteige (1,912 m) - which is also the origin of the animal displayed on our coat-of-arms, the boar.

The Bezirk Zell am See is an administrative district (Bezirk) in the federal state of Salzburg, Austria, and congruent with the Pinzgau region (German pronunciation: [ˈpʰɪnt͡sˌɡ̊aʊ̯] ). The area of the district is 2,640.85 square kilometres (1,019.64 sq mi), with a population of 84,124 (May 15, 2001), and population density 32 persons per km². The administrative center of the district is Zell am See. It is a two-hour transfer to resort from Salzburg Airport. The region’s biggest town is Saalfelden with a population of 20,000.

The Felix Gottwald Ski Jump Stadium (German: Felix-Gottwald-Schisprungstadion) is located in the village of Uttenhofen in the borough of Saalfelden in the Austrian state of Salzburg. It has four jumps of categories K 15, K 30, K 60 and K 85.

Schmitten Discgolf Parcours is a seasonal 18-hole disc golf course located in Zell am See, Austria. The course is set on a ski slope and progresses downhill. The first hole is 1,830 metres (6,000 ft) above sea level and the last hole is 430 metres (1,410 ft) lower. Established on 15 June 2009, it was the first disc golf course in Austria and the 3,000th course to be added to the PDGA Course Directory. It is open for free to players who purchased a valid cable car ticket.

The Leoganger Ache is a river of Salzburg, Austria, a left tributary of the Saalach. The Leonganger Ache drains the valley of the same name, the Leoganger Tal. It originates near the border with Tyrol in Hütten, municipality of Leogang, at a height of 960 m (3,150 ft) out of its two headstreams: the Schwarzleobach stream, which flows from the southwest below the Spielberghorn mountain in the Tyrolean Slate Alps (north of Saalbach) having risen on the Spielbergtörl, at about 1,600 m (5,200 ft) and the Grießner Bach, which flows down from the Grießen Pass at 970 m (3,180 ft) from the Grießensee and the Grießener Moor.It flows from west to east and ist about 15 km (9.3 mi) long, including the Schwarzleobach 22 km (14 mi). After half its way it passes through the municipality of Leogang. The Leoganger Valley falls openly and gently into the Saalfelden Basin. Northwest of Saalfelden, in the parish of Uttenhofen, the Leoganger Ache discharges into the Saalach; at a triple confluence with the Urslau. Its northern, right hand tributaries comprise several mountain streams that drain the limestone massif of the Leogang Mountains (the Grießbach and Weissbach empty into the Grießner Bach, the Birnbach from Birnhorn joins at Leogang and the Weissbach at Ecking). From the Slate Alps the main streams are the Schwarzbach (with the Dunkelkendlbach from the Asitz and the Klammbach from the Halderbergkogel). The B 164 Hochkönig Road (which comes from Bischofshofen via Dienten and Saalfelden) runs along the Leoganger Valley over the Grießen Pass and via Fieberbrunn to St. Johann in Tirol – it is the only internal Austria link between Tyrol and the east that does not cross a high Alpine pass, but is also linked to Salzburg via the Little German Corner.

The Schmittenhöhe is a mountain, 1,965 m (AA) high, on the eastern edge of the Kitzbühel Alps. It is the local mountain of the district capital of Zell am See, from where a cable car was built in 1927 by Adolf Bleichert & Co. that runs to the summit. The cable car system has been renovated several times since. From the summit of the Schmittenhöhe there is a good view of over 30 three-thousanders as well as the lake of Zeller See, the river basin and the whole Saalach valley.

The Pinzgau Hut or Pinzgauer Hut (German: Pinzgauer Hütte) is a mountain hut at 1,700 m (5,577 ft) above sea level in the Kitzbühel Alps in Salzburg, Austria.

Castle Saalhof is one of the oldest castles in the Pinzgau region. It dates back to the 11th century, when it apparently was the home of the Counts of the region. During the renovation of the facade in 2010, the oldest parts of the castle on the north-east side were revealed. In 1600, Castle Saalhof was extended.
