Eastergate

St George's Church is an Anglican church in the village of Eastergate in West Sussex, England. It is the ancient parish church of Eastergate, although since 1992 it has been administered as part of a joint ecclesiastical parish with the churches in neighbouring Barnham and Aldingbourne. As part of this group, the building is still in regular use for worship on Sundays and weekdays. Eastergate village school has links with the church, and pupils regularly attend services. There is historic and structural evidence of a Saxon place of worship on the site, and some 11th-century work survives in the chancel, but the present appearance of the church is mostly 13th-century. It was then restored in the Victorian era, and some further rebuilding work was undertaken in the 20th century. The "long, straggling village" of Eastergate is administratively located in the district of Arun, one of seven local government districts in West Sussex. The church is in a rural situation south of the village street; it is approached through a farmyard next to the manor house, and a "magnificent" Elizabethan granary building that was originally part of the farm has been used by the church for various purposes since the 1970s. English Heritage has listed both buildings for their architectural and historical importance: St George's Church at Grade II*, and the former granary at the lower Grade II.

Ormiston Six Villages Academy (formerly Westergate Community School) is a coeducational secondary school for 11 to 16-year-old students (Y7-11) with academy status, located in Westergate, West Sussex, England. The six villages are Barnham, Eastergate, Westergate, Walberton, Fontwell and Yapton. The school converted to academy status on 1 November 2013 and is part of the Ormiston Academies Trust. The academy was recently rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted in their most recent inspection occurring in 2023.

Fontwell Park Racecourse is a horse racing course located in the village of Fontwell in West Sussex, England, owned by ARC Racing. It features an oval hurdles course. Fontwell Park was founded by Alfred Day who trained racehorses at The Hermitage, by the Chichester to Arundel road, from 1887. Day returned the name Fontwell to common use after researching the history of the area, and by 1924 he had purchased enough land to open the racecourse. The hurdles track was a normal shape, but the steeplechase course was laid out in a figure of eight shape to use the space on the site. The first meeting took place on 21 May 1924. The grandstand and the weighing room were built with thatched roofs. The opening race was won by Gem, the 5/4 favourite Gem, ridden by jockey Fred Rees.At the course in October 1949, Princess Elizabeth (now Queen Elizabeth II) had her first winner as an owner when Monaveen won the Chichester Handicap Chase. In 1984, John Francome rode his 1,036th career winner at Fontwell Park, passing Stan Mellor's record for a National Hunt jockey - Francome's record has subsequently been beaten. The feature race of the season at Fontwell Park is the Grade Two National Spirit Hurdle run over a distance of two miles and four furlongs in February. It is a recognised Cheltenham Festival trial. My Way de Solzen, trained by Alan King, won the race in 2006 before winning the World Hurdle. Lough Derg, trained by David Pipe and owned by Bill Frewen, took the prize in 2008 and 2009. Trenchant (Alan King/Robert Thornton) took the prize in 2010 and Celestial Halo (Paul Nicholls/Harry Skelton) was the winner in 2011. A new £6.5m Grandstand opened in the Premier Enclosure in August 2010 sponsored by events and plant hire company Winner Group.

The South Coast Plain is a natural region in England running along the central south coast in the counties of East and West Sussex and Hampshire. It has been designated as National Character Area No. 126 by Natural England. The NCA has a total area of 52,245 hectares and forms a coastal strip, 2 to 16 kilometres wide, running from the area of Hamble-le-Rice in Hampshire in the west across the entire length of West Sussex to Brighton in East Sussex to the east.Its major settlements include the cities of Brighton and Hove, Chichester and Portsmouth, the market town of Fareham, the coastal town of Gosport and the seaside resorts of Bognor Regis, Littlehampton and Worthing. It is bordered by the New Forest across Southampton Water to the west, the South Hampshire Lowlands to the northwest, the South Downs to the north and east, and the Isle of Wight across the Solent to the southwest.

Aldingbourne House is a Regency Era Grade II listed country house near the village of Aldingbourne in the Arun district of West Sussex. It was built in 1799, with later alterations and additions.

St Philip Howard Catholic School is an Ofsted rated "outstanding' secondary school for 11-18 year olds located between Chichester and Arundel, in the town of Barnham, West Sussex, England. It supports a strong Catholic ethos, although is open to pupils of all faiths. It holds 'Specialist Humanities College' status and 'Teaching School' status since 2017. In 2016 the school became an academy member of the BOSCO Catholic education trust.

Barnham railway station is in Barnham, West Sussex, England around 5 miles (8.0 km) north of Bognor Regis. It is located on the West Coastway Line between Brighton and Southampton, 63 miles 22 chains (101.8 km) down the line from London Bridge via Redhill. The station and all services are operated by Southern which operate at the station using Class 377 EMUs

Fontwell is an electoral division of West Sussex in the United Kingdom and returns one member to sit on West Sussex County Council. The current County Councillor, Derek Whittington, is also Cabinet Member for Strategic Planning & Transport.

Barnham Court is a 17th-century Artisan Mannerism house in Barnham, West Sussex, England. It is a Grade I listed building, and has many features similar to Kew Palace in London.

Barnham is a village, Anglican parish and former civil parish, now in the civil parish of Barnham and Eastergate, in the Arun district of West Sussex, England, centred about 5 miles (8.0 km) north of Bognor Regis. On 1 April 2019 the parish was merged with Eastergate to form "Barnham and Eastergate".

Aldingbourne is a village, Anglican parish and civil parish in the Arun District of West Sussex, England. Its centre is 4 miles (6.4 km) north of Bognor Regis and 4 miles (6.4 km) east of Chichester with the A29 and A27 main roads running through it. The civil parish is named for the small village of Aldingbourne, but most of the population is in Westergate, and the smaller settlements of Norton, Nyton, Woodgate, Lidsey and part of Shripney. The ecclesiastical parish extends to 3,060 acres (1,240 ha), and was a significant settlement at the time of the Domesday Survey of 1086.

Crockerhill is a hamlet on the A27 road between Tangmere and Fontwell in West Sussex, England. It has one public house, The Winterton Arms.. At the 2011 Census the population of the hamlet was included in the civil parish of Boxgrove.
