The school serves the communities of Brunswick, Burkittsville, Jefferson, Knoxville, Point of Rocks, and Rosemont. There have been plans to demolish the current building and to build a new high school nearby.

The district includes the 18th century former town of Berlin, the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad yards along the Potomac River, and the town built between 1890 and 1910 to serve the railroad.Brunswick Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

Brunswick is a passenger rail station on the MARC Brunswick Line between Washington, D.C., and Martinsburg, West Virginia. The station house, located at 100 South Maple Street in Brunswick, Maryland, is a former Baltimore and Ohio Railroad depot that is a contributing property to the Brunswick Historic District, which has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since August 29, 1979. The station was designed by Ephraim Francis Baldwin and opened in 1891 on Seventh Avenue. Several years later the building was moved to its current location. It is a wooden frame building with stone walls up to the window sills, and features Palladian windows in the roof dormers.Amtrak's former Blue Ridge previously served the station and eventually dropped the stop from its timetables. The Brunswick station was the final station in the CSX System to eliminate human ticket agents. Barb Eichelberger, the last employee of her kind in the entire system, retired in June 2010.

Burkittsville is a historic village in Frederick County, Maryland, United States. The village lies in the southern Middletown Valley along the eastern base of South Mountain. Burkittsville is a residential area with an economy based in agriculture and tourism. The village was the scene of the Battle of Crampton's Gap, part of the Battle of South Mountain during the Maryland Campaign of the Civil War on September 14, 1862. Burkittsville was also made a subject of national attention when it was used as the setting of the 1999 horror film The Blair Witch Project. Nearby attractions include the Gathland State Park and the Appalachian Trail. The population was 151 as of the 2010 census.

Located at a crossroads in western Frederick County, the town is a consistent collection of early 19th-century Federal style houses mixed with a few Victorian style houses that has remained virtually unchanged since 1900. The town is surrounded on three sides by an open, farmed landscape, and nestles against South Mountain on its western side.The town was involved in a number of Civil War actions, including the Battle of Crampton's Gap in 1862. The Burkittsville Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.

The Poffenberger Road Bridge, near Jefferson, Maryland, is a wrought iron bridge by the Wrought Iron Bridge Company of Canton, Ohio. The bridge is similar to the Fourpoints Bridge elsewhere in Frederick County. The bridge is a single-span double-intersection Pratt truss. It was built circa 1878 and remains in daily use.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

Catoctin Creek is a 27.9-mile-long (44.9 km) tributary of the Potomac River in Frederick County, Maryland, USA. Its source is formed north of Myersville. In Myersville, it merges with the Little Catoctin Creek at Doub's Meadow Park. From there, it flows directly south through Middletown, and the southern Middletown Valley for the entire length of the stream collecting several smaller tributaries. It makes a crossing with the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal at the Catoctin Aqueduct, one of just 11 of these structures to survive. Catoctin Creek enters the Potomac River east of Brunswick.

Brownsville (also Banjotown) is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Washington County, Maryland, United States, near Gapland in an area known as Pleasant Valley. Its population was 89 as of the 2010 census.
