Open University of Mauritius

The University of Mauritius (UoM) (French: Université de Maurice) is the national university of Mauritius. It is the oldest and largest university in the country in terms of student enrollment and curriculum offered. The public university's main campus is located at Réduit, Moka.

Best FM is a Hindi-language entertainment radio station in Mauritius that is owned and broadcast by the Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation. The radio started operating on the 5th of October 2010 and is entirely dedicated to Bollywood music and has as slogan "Aur Kya Chahiye" (What better). The radio channel opens as its sister station Taal FM which has been rebranded to a regional radio station, broadcasting shows in 13 popular speaking languages in Mauritius.

The Mahatma Gandhi Institute (commonly known as MGI), located in Moka on the island of Mauritius, is an educational institution focused of secondary, tertiary and pre-vocational education. It also promotes and facilitates research and preservation of cultural heritage and arts.

Ébène (Mauritian Creole pronunciation: [ebɛn]) is a suburb of Quatre Bornes, Mauritius, 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) south of the capital, Port Louis. Construction began in November 2001, with the suburb being promoted as a new information technology hub for Mauritius and as a link between African and Asian markets. The aim was to create a hi-tech office area in order to dynamise the country. As a result, it is also referred to as Ébène Cybercity or Cyber City.

The State House (French: Le Château de Réduit) is the official residence of the President of Mauritius. Originally Le Réduit, it was built as a fortress for defence against attack by Pierre Félix Barthelemy David in 1749. The mansion is in Réduit, Moka, near of the University of Mauritius and the end of the Plaines Wilhems District. It used to serve as the residence for former governors of Mauritius, but now it is the residence of the President. It is built on 97 hectares (240 acres) of land. The château has a garden where a multitude of flowers grow, as well as exotic and native trees. The château is open to the public two days a year, in October and March. The house has persisted through history; it was destroyed by a cyclone, rebuilt, and has been renovated since. It is also used by the military.

AFRINIC (African Network Information Centre) is the regional Internet registry (RIR) for Africa. Its headquarters are in Ebene, Mauritius. Before AFRINIC was formed, IP addresses (IPv6 and IPv4) for Africa were distributed by the Asia-Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC), the American Registry for Internet Numbers (ARIN), and the RIPE NCC. ICANN provisionally recognized AFRINIC on 11 October 2004. The registry became operational on 22 February 2005. ICANN gave it final recognition in April 2005.

Moka (Mauritian Creole pronunciation: [moka]) is a village in Mauritius located mainly in the Moka District. The western part of the village lies in the Plaines Wilhems District. Since 1967 it forms part of Constituency No. 8 Quartier Militaire and Moka. The village is administered by the Moka Village Council under the aegis of the Moka District Council. According to the census made by Statistics Mauritius in 2011, the population was at 8,846. The elevation is 203 meters and can be up to 425 meters in some places. Moka is directly on the other side of the Moka Range from Port Louis. The village is close to the mountain Le Pouce and the town Beau-Bassin Rose-Hill. Réduit is a suburb of the village where the State House and University of Mauritius is situated. The village is also home to the Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation and the Mahatma Gandhi Institute.

Le Bocage International School (LBIS) is an English-medium, private international school offering educational services to boys and girls from the ages of 11–19.LBIS was founded in 1990 and is located at Mount Ory, Moka (Mauritius). LBIS is an IBO school that offers the International Baccalaureate Program for the Middle Years, form 1–5, and the Diploma years, form 6–7. It also prepares students for the IGCSE and the International Baccalaureate examinations.

Queen Elizabeth College (QEC) is a girls secondary school in Mauritius. It has now become a mixed school and accommodates girls and boys of age 15 to 18 years based on their performance at the National Certificate of Education (NCE) examinations. The school prepares its students for the O Level examinations, awarding the School Certificate; and the A Level examinations, awarding the Higher School Certificate. The school is well known for having produced many female leaders at the national level as well as at the international level. The graduates have become female scholars, professionals, scientists, leaders and politicians amongst others.
