Alrekstad

Årstad is a former municipality in the old Hordaland county in Norway. The 21.37-square-kilometre (8.25 sq mi) municipality existed from 1838 until 1915 when it was merged into the city of Bergen. The municipality of Årstad (historically spelled Aarstad) was a southern suburb of the city of Bergen, mostly located in the valley to the south of the bay Store Lungegårdsvannet and the Puddefjorden all the way south to the village of Nattland. The administrative centre of Årstad was the village of Kronstad. The mountain Ulriken lies to the east of Årstad and the mountain Løvstakken lies to the west. The municipality is named after the medieval farm Alrekstad, located on this site. The area of the old municipality somewhat corresponds to the present-day borough of Årstad in the city of Bergen.

Haukeland University Hospital (Norwegian: Haukeland universitetssjukehus) is a hospital in Bergen, Norway, and one of the eleven institutions that make up Bergen Hospital Trust. Haukeland is the largest in Norway in terms of number of patients, and serves as the local hospital of Bergen, Midthordland and Nordhordland, the central hospital of Vestland county, and the regional hospital for Vestland and Rogaland counties. The general area of the hospital is about 200,000 square metres (2,200,000 sq ft) and the Central Block is about 125,000 square metres (1,350,000 sq ft). They have a co-operation with the University of Bergen, including the Gades Institute of Pathology. The Hospital is the greatest employer in Hordaland, in terms of number of employees. Haukeland is a national special hospital and resource center for Burn injuries, air-pressure injuries (diving), Cornea-protesises and treatment of intercranial tumors. It is the site of RELIS.

Årstad Church (Norwegian: Årstad kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Bergen Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the Årstad neighborhood in the city of Bergen. It is the church for the Årstad parish which is part of the Bergensdalen prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The large, stone church was built in a cruciform design and a Neo-Gothic style in 1890 using plans drawn up by the architect Christian Christie. The church seats about 560 people.

Ulriksbanen is a passenger aerial tramway in Bergen, Norway. It connects the mountain Ulriken to the city, and is frequently used by tourists as well as locals. The tramway was first thought of by Frithjof Meidell Andersen in 1954, and a company was established in 1959. After having been constructed by a Swiss company, Ulriksbanen opened in 1961. Ulriksbanen, branded as Ulriken643, in reference to the height of Mount Ulriken, is under construction to expand operations and capacity, and will reopen with a new cable car (50 person capacity gondolas) and new bigger Skyskraperen restaurant in June 2021.

Svartediket is a lake in the city of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. The 0.5-square-kilometre (0.19 sq mi) lake lies immediately north of the mountain Ulriken, northeast of the Store Lungegårdsvannet bay. Historically, this lake was called Ålrekstadsvannet, but in the late 19th century, a dam was built on the south end of the lake to create a reservoir for the city's drinking water. The lake is the main source of drinking water for the central parts of the city of Bergen. There is a pumping station and treatment facility build adjacent to the lake inside the mountain Ulriken. Drinking water is collected at a 28-metre (92 ft) depth in Svartediket. Inside the water treatment plant, the water is filtered and irradiated with UV light to kill harmful microorganisms. After treatment, the clean drinking water is stored in a 15,000-cubic-metre (530,000 cu ft) large water pool inside the mountain. This is the water that is pumped down to the city center for drinking water. In 2004, Bergen was hit by a Giardia lamblia epidemic which had its source in the lake Svartediket. The water treatment facility was upgraded in 2007.

Haukelandshallen is an indoor sport arena in Årstad borough, Bergen, Norway. It holds 5,000 people. The arena hosts mainly team handball matches, is the home arena for Tertnes HE and hosted the 2008 European Men's Handball Championship. The basketball team Ulriken Eagles also plays there.

Kronstad Station is a former station at Kronstad in Bergen, Norway opened in 1913 and closed in 1965. It was served by trains on the Bergen Line until January 1965, when the stretch on which the station was located was closed following the opening of the Ulriken Tunnel in 1964. The former station is located south of the Kronstad Tunnel, which passes under Haukeland University Hospital and Møllendal Cemetery between Kronstad and Fløen. There were plans for converting the tunnel into a bicycle path, as it is rarely used by trains nowadays.

Bergen Heliport, Nygårdstangen (ICAO: ENBG; Norwegian: Bergen helikopterplass, Nygårdstangen) was a heliport situated at Nygårdstangen on the shore of Store Lungegårdsvannet in Bergen, Norway. It was solely used for air ambulance services to Haukeland University Hospital. The heliport was owned and operated by Hordaland County Municipality, with helicopter services provided by Norsk Luftambulanse (NLA). The base opened in 1987 as a temporary facility. It was closed in 2002 and replaced by Bergen Heliport, Grønneviksøren.

Bergen Heliport, Grønneviksøren (ICAO: ENBG; Norwegian: Bergen helikopterplass, Grønneviksøren) is a heliport situated at Grønneviksøren on the shore of Store Lungegårdsvannet in Bergen, Norway. It is solely used for air ambulance services to Haukeland University Hospital. The heliport is owned and operated by Bergen Hospital Trust. It is the base for a Eurocopter EC-135P2+ operated by Norsk Luftambulanse (NLA) for the Norwegian Air Ambulance. Grønneviksøren is also used by the Royal Norwegian Air Force's 330 Squadron's Westland Sea King search and rescue helicopters. The landing pad measures 60 by 34 meters (197 by 112 ft). Grønneviksøren is located 2 kilometers (1.2 mi) from the hospital and patients must therefore be transported by ambulance to Haukeland. In cases where time is imperative, the helicopters can land at a helipad situated on-site at the hospital. When the air ambulance service commenced in Bergen in 1987, Bergen Heliport, Nygårdstangen was built. With the lot being sold, the heliport relocated to Grønneviksøren in 2002. Since 2012 it has been supplemented with the helipad at the hospital. There are plans to move the heliport to a new location at Nygårdstangen.

Kronstad Hovedgård is a manor house in the city of Bergen, Norway. It is situated in the borough of Årstad about 2 km south of the Bergenhus on the south shore of the bay of Store Lungegårdsvannet.

Brann Stadion is a football stadium in Bergen, Norway. It was constructed in 1919, and has been the home of the football club Brann ever since. The stadium lies 3 km (1.9 mi) south of the city centre, at the foot of Mount Ulriken. The record attendance dates from 1 October 1961, when Brann hosted Fredrikstad in the cup semi-final, in front of 24,800 spectators. Though its league attendance record is 23,900, from 1978, when they hosted Lillestrøm. Brann Stadion has, per. 2009, a capacity of 17,317. A redevelopment project was underway, aimed at increasing the capacity to over 20,000, but it has been put on hold. Brann Stadion has the third largest attendance capacity in Norway. Brann Stadion was owned jointly by Brann (49%) and Stor-Bergen Boligbyggelag (51%). However, in an act of local-patriotism the Stor-Bergen Boligbyggelag sold its shares to Brann for the same sum they bought the shares for, despite the added value of the stadium as a result of the still ongoing reconstruction (December 2006).

Kronstad is a neighbourhood in the borough of Årstad in the city of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the northern part of the borough, south of the large Store Lungegårdsvannet bay, east of the neighborhood of Solheim, north of Minde, west of Landås, and west of Møllendal and Haukeland (in Bergenhus borough). The neighbourhood was named after the old Kronstad farm (whose successor is the Kronstad Hovedgård manor house), which was formerly known as "Hunstad". After the vicar of Bergen Cathedral purchased the farm in 1705, the name was changed to "Cronstad" which later changed to Kronstad.
