Meadow Well is a Tyne and Wear Metro station, serving the suburbs of Chirton and Meadow Well, North Tyneside in Tyne and Wear, England. It joined the network as Smith's Park on 14 November 1982, following the opening of the fourth phase of the network, between Tynemouth and St James via Wallsend.

Wet N Wild was an indoor water park situated in North Shields, Tyne and Wear, England. It was the United Kingdom's largest indoor water park when opened in 1993, a title subsequently claimed by Sandcastle Waterpark. The park was situated in the Royal Quays complex, and featured numerous slides, a wave machine, and rapids. It was confirmed Wet N Wild would reopen following a takeover by Moirai Capital Investments. As of 2020, the park has once again closed. It is currently unknown if it will reopen as a waterpark

Royal Quays is an area of North Shields, North Tyneside, England, beside the River Tyne. Built on the site of former docks, and containing the pre-existing North Shields International Ferry Terminal, the area was renamed Royal Quays in 1990 and redeveloped with housing, a shopping centre, Brewers Fayre restaurant, large public parks and a water park known as Wet n Wild. A Premier Inn hotel, sports centre, ten-pin bowling complex and a trampolining centre are also part of the development.

'Y Radio' is a community-based and specialist interest radio service for North Tyneside, which broadcasts online at www.yradio.co.uk and is operated from the YMCA North Tyneside building in Church Way, North Shields. The station features community arts programmes, music programmes and local news and current affairs programmes specifically for the region and wider afield. Originally named Youth Voice FM and operated as part of the VODA scheme, Y Radio is now licensed and regulated.

North Shields is 8 miles(13 km) north-east of Newcastle upon Tyne. The town's name derives from Middle English schele meaning "temporary sheds or huts used by fishermen". Historically North Shields was part of the Tynemouth County Borough in Northumberland until 1974, when it became part of Tyne and Wear.

Preston is a suburb about a mile north of North Shields, North Tyneside. Its population was recorded at 8419 in the 2011 census. Historically a separate entity, it has slowly been absorbed into the town to the south and expanded as to form a continuous urban area north to Monkseaton.
