Broad Street is a 15-mile-long (24 km) road located in the independent city of Richmond, Virginia, and adjacent Henrico County. Broad Street is significant to Richmond due to the many commercial establishments that have been built along it throughout Richmond's history. From downtown through miles into the suburbs, the street is largely dedicated to retailing and offices, including regional and neighborhood shopping centers and malls.

The Masonic Temple in Richmond, Virginia is a Richardsonian Romanesque style building built during 1888–1893, designed by Jackson C. Gott. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.It is a prominent building in downtown Richmond. Its NRHP nomination asserts that the building is the finest example of Richardsonian Romanesque style architecture in the state, and others have asserted that at its time of construction it was "one of the 'most magnificent examples of modern architecture in the South.'": 2 The design by Gott was one of 17 submitted in a design competition.The building was used for a 1905 function attended by U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt. It was used by the Masons until 1971. In 1982 the Richmond Foundation for the Arts acquired it with intended purpose of its serving as an arts center for the region.: 3 At some later date the building housed a catering venue, office building and apartments.

Steamer Company Number 5 is a former Richmond fire station located at 200 West Marshall Street in Richmond, Virginia. Designed by Richmond City Engineer Wilfred Emory Cutshaw, the building has a triangular plan to conform to the shape of its lot at the intersection of Brook Road and Marshall Street. Constructed of brick on a foundation of granite ashlar and covered with stucco which was scored to simulate stone, Steamer Company Number 5 is a late example of the Italianate style. This is a decorative fashion the building shares with many houses in the surrounding Jackson Ward area it served as firehouse from 1883 to 1968.Built in 1883 to continue the function of fire fighting and police station for the Jackson Ward neighborhood begun in 1849 by a previous building on the site, Steamer Company Number 5 combines the unique local form of two-bow-front houses with municipal functionality. The late use of the Italianate style is typical of municipal schools and other buildings constructed by the city during the period. The style can be observed as late as 1896, in Richmond's Randolph Street School.The building is now home to Gallery 5, an arts center, and was the former home of the Virginia Fire & Police Museum, which covered Virginia fire and police history with collections include antique fire apparatus, historic photos, and artifacts dating from 1790 to the present.

Gallery5 is an arts center, museum, gallery, venue, and community space in Richmond, VA. It is located at 200 West Marshall Street in Richmond, VA, in the historic Jackson Ward neighborhood. Gallery5 is housed in the original building of Steamer Company Number 5, which is the oldest firehouse in Virginia, dating back to 1867. This historic building has seen many incarnations; in addition to the original fire station the building has also served as a police station, a Fire and Police Museum, and a hot dog emporium. The gallery is a cornerstone participant in Richmond's monthly First Friday Art Walk, which takes place on the first Friday of every month and draws artists and art-enthusiasts in throngs to Downtown Richmond.

Monroe Ward is a historic neighborhood in Downtown Richmond. It is East of the Fan district and includes several apartment buildings, usually with VCU students living in them. Recently, VCU expanded its Monroe Park campus into the Monroe Ward with the Engineering East/Snead Hall building, as well as an under construction residence hall and parking deck. The historic Jefferson Hotel is located in the Monroe Ward. The culture-filled area is situated between the Fan area and Downtown.

Joseph P. Winston House, also known as the Winston House, is a historic residence in Richmond, Virginia, United States. It was built in 1873-1874 for wholesale grocer Joseph P. Winston, and is a 2+1⁄2-story, three bay, brick residence. It features a half-story, ogee-curved mansard roof with black slate shingles. It also has an elaborate cast-iron front porch and original cast-iron picket fence with gate. Also included is the adjacent Richmond Art Company Building. It was designed in 1920 by prominent architect Duncan Lee, and is a three-story, stuccoed brick building in a Spanish-Mediterranean Revival style.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 11, 1979. It is located in the Grace Street Commercial Historic District.

The Kent–Valentine House is a historic home in Richmond, Virginia. It was built in 1845 from plans by Isaiah Rogers of Boston. It is a three-story, five bay, stuccoed brick mansion with a two-story wing at the rear of the west side. It features a two-story, three-bay portico with Roman Ionic columns and balustrade. In 1904, the house was enlarged to its present five bay width and the interior redesigned in the Colonial Revival style.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970.The house is the headquarters of the Historic Garden Week project of the Garden Club of Virginia, which is the nation's only statewide house and garden tour that runs for a week each April across the state of Virginia. In its 84th year, the tour is of Virginia's most historic houses, as well as a sampling of other notable private residences. It is run from offices at the Kent–Valentine House on Franklin Street in downtown Richmond, Virginia.

Linden Row is a set of seven historic rowhouses located in Richmond, Virginia. They were built in 1847 and 1853, and are three-story, Greek Revival style brick veneer townhouses on high basements and topped by a simple white cornice of wood. Each house has an identical Grecian Doric order entrance porch supported by two fluted Doric columns. A three-story porch runs the entire length of the back of the houses. Linden Row includes a house owned by noted author Mary Johnston, who died there in 1936.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971.

The Taylor–Mayo House, also known as the Mayo Memorial Church House, is a historic home located in Richmond, Virginia. It was built in 1845, and is a two-story, five bay, Greek Revival style dwelling topped by a hipped roof. The front facade features a three-bay two-story Ionic order portico. The house was elaborately renovated during the 1880s.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

The Block 0-100 East Franklin Street Historic District is a national historic district located at Richmond, Virginia. It is located west of downtown. The district encompasses 21 contributing buildings built between about 1840 and 1920. The district is characterized by numerous mid- to late-19th century brick town houses in a variety of popular 19th-century architectural styles including Queen Anne, Italianate, and Greek Revival.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
