Lake Griffin State Park is a Florida State Park located two miles (3 km) north of Leesburg, in Fruitland Park and 30 miles (48 km) south of Ocala on U.S. Highway 441. It is home to one of the state's largest live oak trees. The park is unique in connecting to Lake Griffin, the Ocklawaha River and thence to the Harris Chain of Lakes, and is made up of 577.63 acres (2.33758 km2) of swampland and hardwood upland. Activities include boating and canoeing, kayaking, hiking, fishing, camping, and wildlife viewing. Among the wildlife of the park are osprey, bald eagle, blue heron, anhinga, ibis, American alligator, and river otter. Amenities include a full-facility campground, a half-mile nature trail, a boat ramp that provides access to the Dead River, and a playground for small children as well as kayak and canoe rentals, a forty site campground, and a picnic area. The park is open from 8:00 am until sundown year-round.

It was moved to 1195 West Magnolia Street on September 1, 1990. h The City of Leesburg owns the house, and opens it for public tours twice a month. It is also available for rent for special occasions. As of February 20, 2018 the house suffered a devastating fire. The fire marshal ruled it to not be arson, however a witness told police multiple persons were seen inside the structure between two and three a.m. The damage was extensive.

WVLG (640 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Wildwood, Florida, and serving The Villages. It is owned by Village Communications and airs a full service classic hits radio format. World and national news is provided by Fox News Radio. By day, WVLG broadcasts at 930 watts, reducing power at night to 860 watts. It uses a non-directional antenna at all times. The station is also heard on two FM translator stations: W274BR 102.7 MHz in the northern part of the listening area and W283DK 104.5 in the southern part.
