The Dent du Salantin is a mountain of the Chablais Alps, overlooking the Rhone valley between Evionnaz and Vernayaz, in the canton of Valais. It lies in the massif of the Dents du Midi, east of Lac de Salanfe.

The district of Saint-Maurice is a district in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. It has a population of 14,102 (as of 31 December 2020).

The Chablais Alps (French: Massif du Chablais, pronounced [masif dy ʃablɛ]) are a mountain range in the western Alps. They are situated between Lake Geneva and the Mont Blanc Massif. The Col des Montets separates them from the Mont Blanc Massif in the south, and the Rhône valley separates them from the Bernese Alps in the east. The Chablais Alps are composed of two distinct parts separated by the Val d'Illiez: the Dents du Midi massif on the south which contains the highest peaks, and the alpine foothills on the north.

The Dents du Midi (French pronunciation: [dɑ̃ dy midi]; French: "teeth of the south") are a three-kilometre-long mountain range in the Chablais Alps in the canton of Valais, Switzerland. Overlooking the Val d'Illiez and the Rhône valley to the south, they face the Lac de Salanfe, an artificial reservoir, and are part of the geological ensemble of the Giffre massif. Their seven peaks are, from north-east to south-west: the Cime de l'Est, the Forteresse, the Cathédrale, the Éperon, the Dent Jaune, the Doigts and the Haute Cime. They are mainly composed of limestone rock, with gritty limestone rock in the upper parts. The Dents du Midi are accessible from Champéry, les Cerniers, Mex, Salvan and Vérossaz, but they have only been climbed since the end of the 18th century. A footpath around the Dents du Midi has existed since 1975. The mountain range represents a local symbol and is often used to promote the Val d'Illiez and various brands and associations in the region.

The Savoy Prealps (Préalpes de Savoie in French) are a mountain range in the north-western part of the Alps. They are located in Rhône-Alpes (south-eastern France) and, marginally, in Valais (western Switzerland). Savoy Prealps encompass northernmost area of the French Prealps.

Mex is a former municipality in the district of Saint-Maurice, in the canton of Valais, Switzerland. On 1 January 2013 the former municipality of Mex (VS) merged into the municipality of Saint-Maurice.

The Luisin (French pronunciation: [lɥizɛ̃]) is a mountain of the Chablais Alps, overlooking Les Marécottes in the canton of Valais. It lies east of the Tour Sallière, on the range between the lake of Salanfe and the valley of Trient.

Evionnaz is a municipality in the district of Saint-Maurice in the canton of Valais in Switzerland.

Vérossaz is a municipality in the district of Saint-Maurice, in the canton of Valais, Switzerland.

Evionnaz railway station (French: Gare d'Evionnaz, German: Bahnhof Evionnaz) is a railway station in the municipality of Evionnaz, in the Swiss canton of Valais. It is an intermediate stop on the Simplon line and is served by local trains only.

Saint-Maurice is a city in the Swiss canton of Valais and the capital of the district of Saint-Maurice. On 1 January 2013, the former municipality of Mex merged into the municipality of Saint-Maurice.Saint-Maurice is the site of the Ancient Roman outpost of Agaunum and the 6th-century Abbey of Saint-Maurice d'Agaune. The city is located at the entrance of a pass leading to the upper part of the Rhône valley. As such, it has a strategic importance, and defence work were built from the 15th century to control this access. The Fortress Saint-Maurice was constructed in the surrounding mountainsides from 1880 through 1995.

Agaunum was an outpost in Roman Switzerland, predecessor of the modern city of Saint-Maurice in the canton of Valais, southwestern Switzerland. It was used by the Roman Empire for the collection of the Quadragesima Galliarum. In Christian tradition, Agaunum is known as the place of martyrdom of the Theban Legion.
