Friedrichstadt

Sankt Annen is a municipality in the district of Dithmarschen, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.

The Treene (Danish: Trenen) is a river, hydrologically 95 km (59 mi) and nominally 73.4 km (45.6 mi) long, in Southern Schleswig in the north of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is a right-bank tributary of the River Eider. It starts in northern Angeln, southeast of Flensburg, and flows mainly south-south-west before joining the Eider near Friedrichstadt. The upper course are called Bondenau (Danish: Bondeå) and Kielsau (Danish: Kilså). Its source is situated in the ground of Mohrkirch. The name 'Treene' begins at the Treßsee (Danish: Træsø) lake near Großsolt in the district of Schleswig-Flensburg. After about 73 km (45 mi) it reaches the town of Friedrichstadt (in Nordfriesland district). There it is released through valves into the estuary of the Eider, 25 km (16 mi) above the Eider Barrage. It is the most important tributary of the River Eider. Since the construction of Kiel Canal it has been even stronger than the Eider river.

In January 2008, it was merged with the Ämter Kirchspielslandgemeinde Hennstedt and Kirchspielslandgemeinde Tellingstedt to form the Amt Kirchspielslandgemeinden Eider. Lunden is a municipality in the district of Dithmarschen, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is situated on the Eider river, about 16 km north of Heide. It is part of the Amt Kirchspielslandgemeinde ("collective municipality") of Eider. The first written mention of Lunden is by the Archbishop of Bremen and dates back as early as 1140. The place name probably comes from the Danish "Lunn" (island-like survey) or "Lund"(little forest). In 1513, a Franciscan Friary was constructed in Lunden, fulfilling a vow made by the Dithmarscher soldiers at the Battle of Hemmingstedt in 1500 to donate a monastery in honor of Mary of Nazareth if they won the battle. On 27 February 1529 Lunden was granted a town charter by the National Assembly of Dithmarschen. In 1559, after the peasants' republic in Dithmarschen was defeated by Denmark, this right was lost. From 1806 to 1816, the famous Lutheran theologian Claus Harms served as pastor of Lunden. Lunden is twinned with the town of Romford in London.
