The Nemasket or Namasket River is a small river in southeastern Massachusetts. It flows north 11.2 miles (18.0 km) from Assawompset Pond in Lakeville and through Middleborough where it empties into the Taunton River. The Nemasket's sole tributary is Fall Brook, which drains out from Tispaquin Pond. In Wampanoag Nemasket means Place where the fish are, because it is the largest alewife run on the Eastern Seaboard. The water is clear and there are several good places for launching unmotorized boats, with popular spots including Old Bridge Street, Wareham Street, and Oliver Mill Park on U.S. Route 44.

The Tom Thumb House is a historic house in Middleborough, Massachusetts. The 21⁄2 story wood-frame house was built in the 1870s as a summer home for the dwarf entertainer Charles Stratton, best known by his stage name, General Tom Thumb. It has Second Empire architecture, including a mansard roof, paired brackets in the cornice, and paired columns supporting the porch. The interior was built to meet the needs of the 3-foot-4-inch (102 cm) Stratton and his wife Lavinia, who was also a proportionate dwarf (midget,) however, few of its miniaturized features have survived.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.

Old Colony Correctional Center is a Massachusetts Department of Correction men's prison in Bridgewater, Massachusetts. The medium security facility is located in a 30-acre (12 ha) plot of land in the Bridgewater Correctional Complex with the Bridgewater State Hospital and the Massachusetts Treatment Center. Old Colony Correctional Center Minimum Unit is under the authority of the correctional center. As of January 6, 2020 there were 553 medium and 106 minimum inmates in general population beds.

Bridgewater State Hospital, located in southeastern Massachusetts, is a state facility housing the criminally insane and those whose sanity is being evaluated for the criminal justice system. It was established in 1855 as an almshouse. It was then used as a workhouse for inmates with short sentences who worked the surrounding farmland. It was later rebuilt in the 1880s and again in 1974. As of January 6, 2020 there were 217 inmates in general population beds. The facility was the subject of the 1967 documentary Titicut Follies. Bridgewater State Hospital falls under the jurisdiction of the Massachusetts Department of Correction but its day to day operations is managed by Wellpath, a contracted vendor.

The Massachusetts Treatment Center is a medium-security secured facility for men, operated by the Massachusetts Department of Correction. The facility is located within the Bridgewater Correctional Complex and houses both state prison inmates convicted of sex crimes and civilly committed persons deemed 'sexually dangerous' by a court of law. This civil commitment process is determined by Massachusetts General Law Chapter 123A. On January 6, 2020, there was 572 inmates in general population beds.The mission of the Massachusetts Treatment Center is to promote public safety through the responsible management of criminal and civil commitments while providing a comprehensive and effective sex offender treatment program. The facility is adjacent to the state's Old Colony Correctional Center.

Middleborough Center is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Middleborough in Plymouth County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 7,319 at the 2010 census.

The C.P. Washburn Grain Mill was a historic mill on Center and Cambridge Streets in Middleboro, Massachusetts. The mill was built in 1899 by Charles P. Washburn, whose family had been involved in the milling business since its very first member, John Washburn, arrived in North America in the 1630s. It was known primarily for producing animal feed. Feed produced by the mill was important to local agriculture, including the poultry farming businesses that were common in the area in the early 1900s.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. It has since been demolished.

The Leonard, Shaw & Dean Shoe Factory is a historic industrial property located at Rice and Peirce Streets in Middleborough, Massachusetts. Built in 1896 and repeatedly enlarged before 1911, it was home to one of the town's major employers. Now converted to residential use, the factory complex was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2018.

Nemasket Hill Cemetery is a cemetery located in Middleborough, Massachusetts. It was set aside as a burial ground in 1662, and is the oldest in Middleborough. The oldest engraved headstone here (and within the town of Middleborough) is that of Elizabeth Vaughan, who died on June 24, 1693.The cemetery conducts a "Stroll thru History" annually, in May.The Nemasket Hill Cemetery Association holds Annual Meetings on the third Saturday in April at the Middleborough Public Library. The meeting are open to the public.The cemetery has been in continuous operation since it was established. The cemetery was incorporated on March 24, 1885. The Nemasket Cemetery Circle was a group that was active in the early part of the 1900s and they raised funds that financed various cemetery improvement projects. In 1919, a bridge was erected from North Street over the Nemasket River and connected to wooden stairs that ascended the hill to access the cemetery. The bridge is no longer present, but the stairs remain. During the 1920s, a Chapel was built. In 2009, the cemetery added a columbarium.

Middleborough station (also called Pilgrim Junction) is an under-construction MBTA Commuter Rail station in Middleborough, Massachusetts. It is expected to open in mid-2024 as part of the South Coast Rail project, replacing Middleborough/Lakeville station for regular service. The station will have a single side platform located inside the wye between the Middleborough Main Line and the Middleboro Secondary. The Fall River Railroad opened through Middleborough in 1845–46. Three branch lines from Middleborough followed: the Cape Cod Branch Railroad in 1847, the Middleborough and Taunton Railroad in 1856, and the Plymouth and Middleborough Railroad in 1892. The lines were consolidated under the Old Colony Railroad, which constructed a Tudor-style station building in 1887. The New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad acquired the Old Colony in 1893. Passenger service declined in the 20th century, with commuter rail service to Boston ending in 1959. From 1984 to 1988, Cape Cod and Hyannis Railroad seasonal commuter and excursion service stopped in Middleborough at the former station, which was demolished in the 1990s. MBTA service on the Middleborough/Lakeville line began in 1997, using Middleborough/Lakeville station to the south rather than the downtown station site. In 2017, a re-evaluation of the South Coast Rail project proposed an interim route via Middleborough, with a new Middleborough station. The site at the Pilgrim Junction wye was chosen in 2018, and a construction contract was awarded in 2020.

The Middleborough Center Historic District is a historic district in Middleborough, Massachusetts, United States. It encompasses the center of the town, whose most significant period of growth was between about 1850 and 1920. It is roughly bounded by a former Conrail railroad line, Frank, Pierce, School, North Streets, Nemasket Road, and East Grove Street. The district covers 220 acres (89 ha), and includes about 500 buildings. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.

The Middleborough Main Post Office is a historic post office building in Middleborough, Massachusetts. The single-story brick and stone building was erected in 1933 as part of a Works Progress Administration jobs program. The building has neo-Classical style, with a projecting entry pavilion, and windows slightly recessed in round arch openings.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987, and included in the Middleborough Center Historic District in 2000.
