St Bede's Grammar School

Heaton is a ward within the City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council, West Yorkshire, England. The population at the 2001 census was 16,913, which had increased to 17,121 at the 2011 Census. Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, the ward includes the villages of Frizinghall, Heaton and Daisy Hill, extending to Chellow Heights Reservoir on the western edge and the Bradford-Shipley railway line on the eastern edge. Frizinghall railway station is on the edge of the ward. The University of Bradford School of Management is located in Heaton, as is the former St Bede's Grammar School (now St Bede's and St Joseph's Catholic College Ardor Site) and Bradford Grammar School. The official residence of the Bishop of Bradford is also in Heaton. Heaton has three public houses and a range of shops and restaurants. An ancient woodland, Heaton Woods, stretches from the village to Shipley. The ward is home to 5 golf courses. J.B. Priestley grew up in Heaton and John Braine attended St. Bede's Grammar School. The area became infamous in 1981 when Peter Sutcliffe, the "Yorkshire Ripper", who lived at 6 Garden Lane, was arrested. Heaton is one of the few remaining places in England to have a Lord of the Manor. The title was until 2012 held by John Stanley King who purchased the title in the 1960s from the estate of the Earl of Rosse to ensure the ancient title remained live. He lived in the village all his life and was a local historian. The title is now held by his nephew, Christopher Ball.

Campion Association Football Club is a football club based in Manningham area of Bradford, West Yorkshire, England. They are currently members of the Northern Counties East League Division One and play at Scotchman Road.

The Heaton Woods Trust is both the name for the charity and the woodland it cares for located mainly in Heaton, Bradford, West Yorkshire, England but also stretches into Shipley. The Heaton Woods Trust is a registered charity that was established in 1977. The Heaton Woods Trust is responsible for the care and protection of the woods for the benefit of present and future generations. The charity's ownership is nearly 50 acres which, broadly speaking, extends from Park Drive/Redburn through to the Cat Steps at the bottom of Quarry Street. The Trust also works closely with The Friends of Northcliffe and the Dixon family whose woodland ownership surrounds Six Days Only. The Heaton Woods Trust is funded by charitable donations from the community, paid annual memberships (currently totalling over 160 members from the local community) and fundraising activities such as its annual Open Day and Arboricultural Day. In addition The Heaton Woods Trust receives grants from various sources.

Lister Mills (otherwise known as Manningham Mills) was the largest silk factory in the world. It is located in the Manningham district of Bradford, West Yorkshire, England and was built by Samuel Cunliffe Lister to replace the original Manningham Mills which had been destroyed by fire in 1871. The mill is a Grade II* listed building, built in the Italianate style of Victorian architecture.

University of Bradford School of Management is an international business school located in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England. It was established in 1963 and is one of the oldest business schools in the UK. The school is triple-crown accredited - AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS. Until summer 2019 it occupied buildings near Lister Park. The school was relocated to the University of Bradford City Campus for teaching from September 2019.The School of Management is believed to be the origin of the Bradford factor, an absence review technique in HRM.

Northcliffe Park is a 35-hectare (86-acre) area in Shipley, West Yorkshire, England, set aside for allotments, parkland and woodland. The park and playing fields were donated by Sir Norman Rae in 1920 and the playing fields are known as the Norman Rae fields, but are part of the park itself. The park adjoins the town of Shipley to its eastern and northern sides, and Heaton to the south, with Northcliffe Golf Club also bordering the park on the western side. Bradford Model Engineering Society have two demonstration and ride-on lines within the park which are open to public in the summer. The area was historically known as North Clough ('clough' referring to the ravine containing Northcliffe Dike stream), and then North Cliff which over time became Northcliffe.

Bradford Royal Infirmary is a large teaching hospital in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England, and is operated by the Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The infirmary is affiliated with the Leeds School of Medicine.

Bradford Girls' Grammar School is a free school for girls aged 5 – 16 and boys aged 5 – 11. Founded in 1875, the school is on the outskirts of Bradford city centre in West Yorkshire, England. Recent public examination results put the school top in Bradford and among the top three in Yorkshire. Bradford Girls has a debating society, which Barbara Castle attended when at the school. For many years, the school publication was known as The Chronicle. The school celebrated its centenary in 1975.
