Thun is a railway station in the town of Thun, in the Swiss canton of Bern. At the station, the Swiss Federal Railways owned Bern to Thun main line makes a junction with the other lines, all owned by the BLS AG. These lines are the Gürbetal line from Bern via Belp, the Burgdorf to Thun line from Burgdorf via Konolfingen, and the Lake Thun line to Spiez and Interlaken.The station is served by various operators, including BLS, Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) and Deutsche Bahn. The station also provides an interchange with the local bus network provided by the Verkehrsbetriebe STI. Ships of the BLS-owned fleet on Lake Thun serve a quay at the station, which they access via a navigable stretch of the Aare and the Thun ship canal.

Thun

Thun (French: Thoune) is a town and a municipality in the administrative district of Thun in the canton of Bern in Switzerland. It is located where the Aare flows out of Lake Thun (Thunersee), 30 kilometres (19 miles) southeast of Bern. As of December 2018 the municipality has almost about 45,000 inhabitants and around 80,000 live in the agglomeration. Besides tourism, machine and precision instrument engineering, the largest garrison in the country, the food industry, armaments and publishing are of economic importance to Thun. The official language of Thun is (the Swiss variety of Standard) German, but the main spoken language is the local variant of the Alemannic Swiss German dialect.

Panzermuseum Thun

The Panzermuseum Thun is a museum in Thun in the Canton of Bern in Switzerland. Exhibited in the museum are foreign and Swiss tanks as well as examples of Swiss self-propelled artillery and static artillery. In November 2023 it was announced that the museum would be dissolved over the next one and a half years.

Thun District

Thun District is one of the 26 administrative districts in the canton of Bern, Switzerland. Its capital is the municipality of Thun. From 1 January 2010, the district lost its administrative power while being replaced by the new and enlarged Thun (administrative district), whose administrative centre remained Thun. Since 2010, it remains therefore a fully recognised district under the law and the Constitution (Art.3 al.2) of the Canton of Berne. The district has an area of 285 km2 and consists of 27 municipalities:

Thun District in the Canton of Bern, Switzerland was created on 1 January 2010. It is part of the Oberland administrative region. It contains 31 municipalities with an area of 321.90 km2 (124.29 sq mi) and a population (as of December 2008) of 103,233.

Stadion Lachen

Stadion Lachen is a multi-use stadium in Thun, Switzerland. It is currently used mostly for American Football matches of the Thun Tigers. The stadium was the home ground of FC Thun from 1954 until 2011. The stadium holds 10,350 and was built in 1954. The stadium has areas for both sitting and standing. The Thun Tigers play home matches at the Stadium since 2012 in the Nationalliga A (American football) the top-level league for American football in Switzerland.

Thunerseespiele

The Thunerseespiele are open-air musical productions during summer located at Thun, the main city of the Bernese Oberland, in Switzerland. Every year internationally-famous productions are staged. The location is at the shoreline of Lake Thun (Thunersee). The stage is temporarily built every year over the water, especially for this production. The stage orientation allows the audience to see scenic panoramas with the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau mountain peaks rising over Switzerland in the background.
