Church of the Free Port

The (Royal) Institute for the Blind (Danish: Blindeinstituttet) is a listed, Historicist building on Kastelsvej in the Østerbro district of Copenhagen, Denmark. Built in two stages in 1858 and 1880 to a design by Ferdinand Meldahl, it was the first special school for blind students in Denmark and was listed in 1977. The institution relocated to new premises in Hellerup in the 1960s and is now known as the Danish Institute for the Blind and Partially Sighted . The Østerbro building is now home to Copenhagen Municipality's Children's Centre.

Gefion and Gylfe, situated at Østbanegade 19–21, between Stavangergade and Fridtjof Nansens Plads, is a pair of National Romantic high-end apartment buildings attached to each other by an archway across Mandalsgade in the Østerbro district of Copenhagen, Denmark. The symmetrical building complex was originally located in the axis of the Langelinie Bridge, an Asger Ostenfeld-designed steel bridge spanning the railway tracks just north of Østerport station, now replaced by a bicycle and footbridge. The two buildings were individually listed in the Danish registry of protected buildings and places in 2000. The Irish embassy is based in Gylfe (No. 21). In Norse mythology, Gefion is the goddess who plouged Zealand out of Sweden. Gylfe is the king who challenged her to do so.

Østbanegade is a street in Copenhagen, Denmark. It begins at Østerport Station on Oslo Plads and continues north along the west side of the railway tracks for about 2 kilometres to Aarhusgade where an underpass connects the street to the other side of the railway line. A second underpass is situated at Nordre Frihavnsgade, just south of Nordhavn station, while a foot and cycle bridge is found at Mandalsgade near the beginning of the street. Trondhjems Plads (English: Trondheim Square) is a garden square occupying a triangular space between Østbanegade and Trondhjemsgade.

Kristianiagade is a street located close to Østerport station in the Østerbro district of Copenhagen, Denmark. Buildings in the street include Domus Medica, a former noble town mansion which now houses the Danish Medical Association. The west side of the street is mostly lined with late 19th century villas of which several now serve as embassies. The street is named after the capital of Norway, Oslo (known as Christiania/Kristiania 1624–1925), in recognition of the close ties between the two countries that were part of Denmark-Norway until 1814.

Domus Medica, located on Kritianiagade close to Østerport station in Copenhagen, Denmark, is the headquarters of the Danish Medical Association.

Glacisgården is a listed, Jugendstil-style building located at Østbanegade 11 in the Østerbro district of Copenhagen, Denmark.

The P. C. Skovgaard House, located at Rosenvængets Hovedvej 27, is the former home of Danish Golden Age painter P. C. Skovgaard in the Rosenvænget Quarter of Østerbro in Copenhagen, Denmark. The house was completed to a Historicist design by Johan Daniel Herholdt in 1862 and listed on the Danish registry of protected buildings and places in 1977.

Indre Østerbro (lit. English, "Inner Østerbro"), is one of the 15 administrative, statistical, and tax city districts ("bydele") comprising the municipality of Copenhagen, Denmark. It lies on the eastern edge of the municipality. It covers an area of 6.76 km², has a population of 46,095 and a population density of 6,817 per km². Neighboring city districts are as follows: to the northwest is Ydre Østerbro to the west is Ydre Nørrebro to the southwest is Indre Nørrebro to the south is the Indre By, also known as "Copenhagen Center" or "Downtown Copenhagen" or "City" to the east and north is the Øresund, the strait which separates the island of Zealand from SwedenColloquially, the Indre Østerbro ("Inner Østerbro"), along with its neighboring city district to the northwest – Ydre Østerbro ("Outer Østerbro") – are sometimes collectively referred to as "Østerbro". But technically they are two separate legal units within Copenhagen municipality.

The Embassy of Russia in Copenhagen is the diplomatic mission of the Russian Federation to the Kingdom of Denmark. The chancery is located at Kristianiagade 5 in Indre Østerbro, Copenhagen, and is a heritage listed building.

Amerika Plads (lit. "America Square") is a public square and surrounding neighbourhood in the Østerbro district of Copenhagen, Denmark. It is the result of a redevelopment of an area in the southern part of the former Freeport of Copenhagen into a mixed-use neighbourhood which consists of dwellings, offices and retail establishments, combining converted historic buildings and modern architecture. The former Free Port Station building was put in storage during the redevelopment and is now located in the middle of the square where it serves as a café. The area is to the west bounded by Kalkbrænderihavnsgade, part of a major thoroughfare, and to the east by Dampfærgevej connected to Kalkbrænderihavnsgade in both ends and separating Amerika Plads from America Quay, the western quay of the Southern Free Port dock. The name of the area, like that of the quay, is a reference to the Amerikabåten, large passenger ships which used to transport Danish emigrants to New York City during the first half of the 20th century.

Johan Bernhard Georg Carstensen (31 August 1812 – 4 January 1857) was one of the developers of Tivoli Gardens and a Danish army officer. He spent most of his childhood in the Near East. He travelled widely and had a career in the military Royal Guards, reaching the rank of lieutenant. He attended boarding school at Herlufsholm kostskole.In 1839, Carstensen moved to Copenhagen permanently and published the periodical publications Portefeuillen and Figaro.Between 1843 and 1848, Carstensen was active in the development of Tivoli Gardens and Casino Theatre (Copenhagen) after which he joined the war at Schleswig. He learned that he was no longer required in Tivoli shortly after he returned. He was thought to have abandoned the project as he didn't extend the license of the construction.Following the disagreement with others in the Tivoli Gardens management, Carstensen travelled to the Danish West Indies and joined the army there. He was married to the daughter of an island planter and assisted in management of the property. He subsequently spent time in New York City where he designed the New York Crystal Palace – an exhibition building constructed for the Exhibition of the Industry of All Nations in 1853 – in collaboration with the German architect Charles Gildemeister.

Garrison Cemetery (Danish: Garnisons Kirkegård) is a cemetery in Copenhagen, Denmark. It was inaugurated in 1671 on a site just outside the Eastern City Gate, as a military cemetery complementing the naval Holmens Cemetery which had been inaugurated a few years earlier on a neighbouring site. Later the cemetery was opened to civilian burials as well. Garrison Cemetery is an independent cemetery, managed by the parochial church council, placed under the army's highest authority.
