The Heitlistock is a mountain of the Urner Alps, located between the Klein Melchtal and the Melchtal in the canton of Obwalden. It is situated west of Stöckalp.

The geographical centre of Switzerland has the coordinates 46°48′4″N 8°13′36″E (Swiss Grid: 660158/183641). It is located at Älggi-Alp in the municipality of Sachseln, Obwalden. The point is the centre of mass determined in 1988 by Swisstopo. As the point is difficult to access, a stone was set 500 m further south-east on Älggi Alp (1645 m). This symbolizes the centre of Switzerland and is located at 46°47′54″N 8°13′55″E (Swiss Grid: 660557/183338). A plaque on the stone commemorates the winner of the "Swiss of the Year" award.

The Haupt is a mountain of the Urner Alps, located between the Klein Melchtal and the Melchtal in the canton of Obwalden. Its east side consists of steep limestone cliffs overlooking Stöckalp and Melchsee-Frutt. On its west side it overlooks the Älggi-Alp.

The Sachseln Tunnel is a tunnel in the Swiss canton of Obwalden. It runs to the south-east of the Lake of Sarnen (Sarner See) between Giswil and Sarnen, bypassing the old road along the lake side, and forms part of the A8 motorway. The tunnel was completed in 1997 and is 5,231 metres (17,162 ft) long.The speed limit through the tunnel is 80 kilometres per hour (50 mph).As the tunnel does not meet modern safety standards, work is being undertaken to uprate it, with the construction of a parallel safety tunnel with cross connections at least every 300 metres (980 ft), and the renewal of ventilation and other safety equipment. The work is expected to be completed by 2019.

Melchtal is the valley of the Grosse Melchaa in the canton Obwalden, Switzerland. The hamlet located in the valley is also named Melchtal. Most of the valley is included in the municipality of Kerns; the Melchaa constitutes the limit with Sachseln. It is supposed to be the birthplace of the historical-mythical figure Arnold von Melchtal.

Sachseln is a village and municipality in the canton of Obwalden in Switzerland. Besides the village of Sachseln, the municipality includes the hamlets of Edisried, Ewil and Flüeli-Ranft.

Ewil Maxon railway station is a Swiss railway station on the Brünig line, owned by the Zentralbahn, that links Lucerne and Interlaken. The station is in the municipality of Sachseln in the canton of Obwalden. It takes its name from the nearby hamlet of Ewil, together with the precision electric motor manufacturer Maxon Motor, whose plant adjoins the station.

Sachseln railway station is a Swiss railway station on the Brünig line, owned by the Zentralbahn, that links Lucerne and Interlaken. The station is in the municipality of Sachseln in the canton of Obwalden.

The Hotel Paxmontana is a Grade II listed Art Nouveau hotel in Flüeli-Ranft, Sachseln, Obwalden, in central Switzerland. A four-story mansion in the grand old Victorian resort style, it was built in 1896 as Kurhaus Nünalphorn by the tourism pioneer Franz Hess-Michel. In the 1950s, it was renamed the Paxmontana. It was extensively restored between 1999 and 2011. Its restaurant has a distinct 47 metres (154 ft) long veranda at the front. The hotel is listed as a cultural property of national significance.

Lake Sarnen (German: Sarnersee) is a lake in the Swiss canton of Obwalden. The lake is on the Sarner Aa, which flows out of the Lake Lungern, through the Lake Sarnen, and into Lake Lucerne. The municipalities of Sarnen and Sachseln are located on the shores of the lake, and the Brünig railway line follows the eastern shore.The lake's area is about 7.5 km2 (2.9 sq mi) and its maximum depth is 51 m. It is about 5.7 km (3.5 mi) long and, at its widest, 1.6 km (0.99 mi) wide.The lake is the subject of a watercolour painting by J. M. W. Turner, The Sarner See, Evening, c. 1842.

The Giswil Tunnel is a tunnel in central Switzerland. The tunnel bypasses the town of Giswil in the canton of Obwalden, and forms part of the A8 motorway. The tunnel was completed in 2004, and is 2,066 metres (6,778 ft) long.

The Grosse Melchaa (also Melchaa) is a 18.5 km long affluent of the Lake Sarnen in the Canton Obwalden, Switzerland.
