South Basildon and East Thurrock (UK Parliament constituency)

Fobbing is a small village and former civil parish in Thurrock, Essex, England, and one of Thurrock's traditional (Church of England) parishes. It is between Basildon and Corringham, and is also close to Stanford-le-Hope. In 1931 the parish had a population of 734.Fobbing is one of seven conservation areas in Thurrock.

Fobbing Marsh is a 75.7-hectare (187-acre) nature reserve east of Fobbing in Essex. It is managed by the Essex Wildlife Trust.The site is mainly grazing marshes, but there are also areas of rough grassland, saltmarsh, seawalls and reedbed. Flowering plants include hairy buttercup, knotted hedge-parsley and the nationally rare least lettuce. There are breeding birds such as Corn buntings and yellow wagtails.There is access by a footpath from Marsh Lane.

Vange and Fobbing Marshes are a 164.6-hectare (407-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in two areas south of Basildon in Essex. Vange Marsh is managed by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds.The marshes are unimproved coastal grassland, dykes and creeks, with a wide variety of maritime herbs and grasses, some of them nationally rare. The site is the main British location for least lettuce. Insects with restricted distributions include the scarce emerald damselfly and Roesel's bush cricket. There are birds at Vange Marsh such as avocets, common terns and black-tailed godwits.There is access to Fobbing Marsh by footpaths from Corringham, and Vange Marsh is 600 metres from Pitsea railway station.

All Saints Church is a redundant Anglican church in the former village of Vange, now part of the town of Basildon, Essex, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building, and is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. The church stands to the south of the town of Basildon, just north of the A13 road.

Vange is a former village and civil parish now subsumed within the urban area of the Basildon borough of Essex. The village was first recorded in the Domesday Book in 1086 of having a population of 27. The London Road (B1464) is the main road through Vange and used to be part of the A13 until it was bypassed in the 1970s. The population of the Vange ward within the Basildon Borough taken at the 2011 Census was 10,048. In 1931 the parish had a population of 2300. On 1 January 1937 the parish was abolished to form Billericay.Vange Hill Open Space is 30 acres (120,000 m2) of former plotlands lying next to Basildon golf course. Vange Marshes is a wetland habitat.

St Mary the Virgin Church is a Church of England parish church in the town of Corringham, Essex, England. Dating from the 11th century, it is a Grade I listed building.The church has a west tower with a pyramidal roof, a nave and north aisle, and a chancel with a north chapel. It is built of ragstone rubble and flint, with dressings of Reigate stone and limestone. Domesday Book of 1086 does not record a church or priest. At that time, landholders in the area included the bishop of London, and bishop Odo of Bayeux. The tower is from the late 11th century, as evidenced by the bell-openings and blind arcading, and inside, the arch with a single order of decoration on each side. Nikolaus Pevsner calls it "one of the most important Early Norman monuments in the county". At the apex of the arch on the east side is a small carving of a human head. The RCME considered the south walls of the chancel and nave to be from earlier in the 11th century, perhaps pre-Conquest, with the tower standing on the foundations of the earlier west wall of the nave.The north chapel and north aisle were added in the 14th century, and in the same century the chancel was extended eastward and made higher. 19th-century restoration included work in 1843 by George Gilbert Scott, and the south porch and the vestry are also from that century.The three bells are from 1580, 1629 and 1617.Today the parish is part of the benefice of Corringham and Fobbing.

Corringham is a town and former civil parish in the unitary authority area of Thurrock, in the ceremonial county of Essex, England, located directly next to the town of Stanford-le-Hope, about 24 miles (39 km) east of London and 3 miles (4.8 km) south of Basildon. Corringham lies on a hill overlooking the Thames between Canvey Island and Tilbury Fort. It is 6 miles (9.7 km) north-east of Grays, the administrative centre of Thurrock. Corringham is also a Church of England parish stretching from Horseshoe Bay in the Thames Estuary to Dry Street, south of Langdon Hills. St Mary the Virgin Church is the first of its two parish churches, and originated in the Saxon period from the time of St Cedd in the 7th century. Corringham was formerly served by the Corringham Light Railway which connected the Kynoch munitions factory with the London, Tilbury and Southend Railway. The small historic heart is one of the seven conservation areas in the borough, which is for local government matters a unitary authority. Today, the town is located close to the A13.

East Thurrock United Football Club was a football club based in Corringham, Essex, England. They last competed in the Isthmian League North Division, the eighth tier of English football, and played at Rookery Hill. The club was placed into liquidation by owner Alfie Best on 1 September 2023. The club stated this was due to historic debts from the previous owners.

Basildon Town Football Club is a football club based in Basildon, England. They are currently members of the Eastern Counties League Division One South and play at Rookery Hill, Corringham.

Vange Hill is an 11.5 hectare Local Nature Reserve in Vange, a suburb of Basildon in Essex. It is owned and managed by Basildon Borough Council.The site has grassland and scrub woodland, surrounded by a drainage ditch. Some meadow areas are closely mown, but others are only cut annually, allowing flowers to grow provide food for bumblebees and butterflies. There are unusual plants such as Pale Flax.There is access from Vange Hill Drive.
