Godmanchester ( GOD-mən-ches-tər) is a town and civil parish in the Huntingdonshire district of Cambridgeshire, England. It is separated from Huntingdon, 1 mile (1.6 km) to the north, by the valley of the River Great Ouse. Being on the Roman road network, the town has a long history. It has a waterside location, surrounded by open countryside of high value for its biodiversity but it remains highly accessible, with a railway line to London, the A1 road and M11/A14 which run nearby.

The Parks is a cricket ground situated off Fox Grove, Godmanchester, Huntingdonshire. The ground is bordered to the north and south by residential housing and to the east by the A14 road.

Huntingdon and Godmanchester was a municipal borough in Huntingdonshire (and then Huntingdon and Peterborough) from 1961 to 1974.It was formed on 1 April 1961 by the merger of the boroughs of Huntingdon and Godmanchester. In 1974, under the Local Government Act 1972 the borough was abolished, and a successor parish formed within Huntingdon District, in the non-metropolitan county of Cambridgeshire. The parish had the status of a town, by resolution of the parish council. The borough was granted a coat of arms in 1963, which illustrated the union of the two towns. The shield was divided horizontally in a dovetail pattern to show the joining of two municipalities. At the top of the shield were two hunting horns for Huntingdon, and at the base a fleur-de-lis from the common seal of Godmanchester. The supporters on either side of the shield were described as a "medieval huntsman" and a "medieval oxherd", and they stood upon a representation of the old bridge at Huntingdon that linked the two towns. The motto was United We Advance. On 1 April 1982 the union of the two towns ended, with the formation of two separate civil parishes of Huntingdon and Godmanchester, each governed by a town council. In 1961 the parish had a population of 8821.

The Church of St Mary the Virgin is a Church of England parish church in Godmanchester, Cambridgeshire. The church is a grade I listed building with its earliest phase dating to the 13th century. Most of the structure is of 13th- to 15th-century date but the tower was built in 1623. Godmanchester Town Hall is a municipal building in The Causeway, Godmanchester, Cambridgeshire, England. The town hall, which was the meeting place of Godmanchester Borough Council, is a Grade II listed building.

Godmanchester Chinese Bridge is a Grade II Listed building and landmark of the town of Godmanchester, Huntingdonshire (now administered as part of Cambridgeshire, England). It is a pedestrian bridge that spans a mill stream on the River Great Ouse and is, as the name suggests, built in an ostensibly Chinese style. The original was constructed in 1827 to designs by the architect James Gallier, but the wooden span fell into a bad condition and was replaced with a replica by the local council in 1960.The origins of the bridge are somewhat unusual. "Chinese Chippendale" had been a fashion of the mid-18th century, a time when the town was building a mansion for the Receiver General of Huntingdonshire by the river. Island Hall had included a rather smaller Chinese bridge, linking it to an ornamental island. It seems likely that this served as the inspiration for the public bridge several decades later – its white timbers are also in the Chinese Chippendale style. The wooden span of the bridge was removed by crane on Tuesday 9 February 2010. A replica, built in Yorkshire by CTS Bridges, was put into position on Monday 15th and Tuesday 16 February.

Operation Epsilon was the codename of a program in which Allied forces near the end of World War II detained ten German scientists who were thought to have worked on Nazi Germany's nuclear program. The scientists were captured between May 1 and June 30, 1945, as part of the Allied Alsos Mission, mainly as part of its Operation Big sweep through southwestern Germany. They were interned at Farm Hall, a bugged house in Godmanchester, near Cambridge, England, from July 3, 1945, to January 3, 1946. The primary goal of the program was to determine how close Nazi Germany had been to constructing an atomic bomb by listening to their conversations.

Godmanchester Nature Reserve is a 59-hectare nature reserve in Godmanchester in Cambridgeshire, England. It is managed by the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire.The site has four former gravel pits which are now lakes, together with areas of grassland, willow woodland and reedbeds. Birds include wigeons, tufted ducks, teals and great crested grebes, and there are insects such as dragonflies and butterflies.There is access to Island Lake and Roman Lake, but not to Peter Prince Memorial and Teddy's Lake. The Ouse Valley Way runs along the western edge.

Godmanchester Eastside Common is a 29.7-hectare (73-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest east of Godmanchester in Cambridgeshire. The site is registered common land.There are two fields, with a disused railway line separating them. The habitats are calcareous loam and calcareous clay, both of which are unusual, and there are diverse grass species, such as crested hair-grass and meadow oat grass. The southern field has lines of medieval ridge and furrow.There is access from Common Lane.
