KBJS (90.3 FM) is a radio station broadcasting a Christian radio format. Licensed to Jacksonville, Texas, United States, the station serves the Tyler-Longview area. The station is currently owned by East Texas Media Association, Inc.

The Killough massacre is believed to have been both the largest and last Native American attack on white settlers in East Texas. The massacre took place on October 5, 1838, near Larissa, Texas, in the northwestern part of Cherokee County. There were eighteen victims, including Isaac Killough, Sr., and his extended family (viz. the families of four sons and two daughters). They had immigrated to the Republic of Texas from Talladega County, Alabama, in 1837.

Bullard High School is a public high school located on the southern edge of the city of Bullard, Texas in Cherokee County, United States. It is classified as a 4A school by the UIL. The school is a part of the Bullard Independent School District that serves students in southern Smith County and northern Cherokee County. In 2015, the school was rated "Met Standard" by the Texas Education Agency.

Bullard is a small town in Smith and Cherokee counties in the east-central part of the U.S. state of Texas. U.S. Route 69 and Farm-to-Market Roads 2137, 2493, and 344 intersect here, about 15 miles (24 km) south of the larger city of Tyler. Its population was 2,463 at the 2010 census, up from 1,150 at the 2000 census. The Smith County portion of the town is part of the Tyler metropolitan statistical area, while the Cherokee County portion is part of the Jacksonville micropolitan statistical area. Bullard was earlier known as "Etna" and "Hewsville". The town is named for John H. Bullard, a Confederate soldier, and Emma Eugenia (Erwin) Bullard. In 1881, John Bullard opened the Hewsville post office in his store. In 1883, the Etna post office, near Hewsville, was closed. Then, the Hewsville office was renamed "Bullard". Many rural residents in northern Cherokee County are served by the Bullard post office. The bypassing of the railroad brought about the demise of Etna and the rise of Bullard.

KZWL (94.3 FM) is a terrestrial radio station licensed to Bullard, Texas, United States, and serving the Tyler metropolitan area. It is simulcast on 95.3 KWLL for the Longview area. The station is owned by the Educational Radio Foundation of East Texas, Inc., and features a Christian preaching and education format, branded as The Well.

KVUT (99.7 MHz) is a radio station, licensed to Cuney, Texas, and serving the Tyler-Longview area. It is owned by The University of Texas at Tyler. Until May 24, 2024, the station operated as a public radio station. KVUT is a Class A station. It has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 1,600 watts. The transmitter is on Bois D Arc Drive at Hilltop Trail in Bullard, Texas. Even though KVUT is non-commercial, it broadcasts on a commercial frequency on the FM radio band; it is in the process of being sold to the owner of KFRO in Longview to operate as a commercial classic hits station.

The Brook Hill School is an independent, Christian day and boarding school for students in grades PreK-12 located in Bullard just south of Tyler, Texas. The school was founded in 1997 by Steve Dement with thirty-one students in middle school. The boarding school began soon after in 2003. Today the school exists on 280 acres (110 ha) with over 760 students from East Texas and around the world with 30 countries represented among its student population. Brook Hill also houses the American Freedom Museum, which houses artifacts from all periods of American history. The museum is open to the general public on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and to tour groups of 15 or more on all other days except Sunday when it is closed entirely.

Cove Springs is a small unincorporated community in northwestern Cherokee County, Texas, United States. According to the Handbook of Texas, the community had a population of 40 in 2000. It is located within the Tyler-Jacksonville combined statistical area.

Shadybrook is a census-designated place (CDP) in Cherokee County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,967 at the 2010 census.The CDP is located in the northwestern corner of the county adjacent to Lake Palestine, and takes its name from a gated community located on either side of Farm to Market Road 346. It is 16 miles (26 km) northwest of Jacksonville and 21 miles (34 km) southwest of Tyler.
