Villingen-Schwenningen

Villingen (Schwarzwald) station (officially called Villingen (Schwarzw) by Deutsche Bahn) is one of two stations in Villingen-Schwenningen in the German state of Baden-Württemberg. The other is Schwenningen (Neckar). In addition, there are five more halts (Haltepunkte). The station is located east of the old town of Villingen beyond the Brigach. It is located at 704 metres above sea level on the Black Forest Railway and it is the terminus of the Rottweil–Villingen railway.

Wanne observation tower is one of the oldest lattice towers in the world. It was built in 1888 by the observation tower cooperative on the 778-meter-high (2,552 ft) Wanne mountain tub east of Villingen, in the Schwarzwald-Baar district in southern Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It was erected by bell foundry Grueninger of Villingen. The 30-meter-high (98 ft) tower has three platforms and is remarkable for its uncommon design, as it has an octagonal cross section.

Magdalenenberg is the name of an Iron Age tumulus near the city of Villingen-Schwenningen in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is considered the largest tumulus from the Hallstatt period in Central Europe with a volume of 33.000 cubic meters.

Helios Arena, originally known as Eisstadion am Bauchenberg, is an arena in Villingen-Schwenningen, Germany. It is primarily used for ice hockey, and is the home to the Schwenninger Wild Wings of the DEL. It opened in 1976 and holds 6,215 spectators.

The Museum of Clockmaking (German: Uhrenindustriemuseum) is a museum in the town of Villingen-Schwenningen, Germany, and is dedicated to the history of the clockmaking industry in the town. For much of the 19th century (and early 20th century), Schwenningen was one of southern Germany's most important centres of industrial scale clock manufacturing. The museum is at Bürkstraße 39, a building that was built to house the manufacturing plant for clocks by Wũrttenbergische Uhrenfabrik Bũrk Söhne. That company was considered to be the world leader in the specialised field of portable watchmen's control clocks and related time-recording devices. The core of the museum's collection is made up of working production machinery used to make precision metal parts that can be assembled into clock movements. They have all the machinery in-house to produce all components (except for the mainspring) to manufacture a simple alarm clock movement. Staffing permitting, the full museum visit includes a demonstration of the lathes, milling machines and punch presses, as well as the assembly and packaging process. In addition, there is a comprehensive display of locally mass-produced clocks from most of the former clock factories of Schwenningen. The museum also puts on temporary exhibitions.

Schwenningen (Neckar) station is one of two stations in Villingen-Schwenningen in the German state of Baden-Württemberg. The other is Villingen (Schwarzwald). Schwenningen owes its connection to the railway to Johannes Bürk, who had demanded a route through Schwenningen to promote the local watch industry, which included his own factory. The original plans involved a route through Niedereschach. The station is located at the Neckar, south of central Schwenningen. It is located at 695 metres (2,280 feet) above sea level on the Rottweil–Villingen railway. Originally the station was 540 metres (1,770 feet) long and up to 56 metres (184 feet) wide. The complex included a station building and a goods shed.The station promoted the economic boom of Schwenningen as an industrial city. The watch industry attracted workers from far away, some from the Stuttgart area. That explains why 436,410 passengers were counted in 1907, as Schwenningen had developed from the village into a city by that time.

Königsfeld im Schwarzwald (Low Alemannic: Kinnigsfeld) is a town in the district of Schwarzwald-Baar in Baden-Württemberg in Germany. It is the northernmost town of the district Schwarzwald Baar. Königsfeld has six boroughs (Königsfeld, Neuhausen, Erdmannsweiler, Buchenberg, Burgberg and Weiler). Founded in 1807, it is a centre of the Moravian Church. Until after the Second World War, most of the town's inhabitants continued to be Moravians and the Vorsteher (congregational business manager) of the Congregation also served as de facto Mayor of the town. After the war, great numbers of refugees from former eastern provinces of Germany settled in the town. Königsfeld is on several major bus lines, the next train stations are in St. Georgen and Villingen-Schwenningen. Regional bus lines connect Königsfeld to these towns. Until 1981 it was served by the train station Peterzell-Königsfeld, 5 km outside Königsfeld. Königsfeld is the seat of several boarding schools and a classical Gymnasium/High School/Public School and a School for Home Economics, all operated by the Moravian Church. Humanitarian Albert Schweizer maintained a home in Königsfeld because his wife could not live in Lambaréné due to her health. His home in Königsfeld is now a museum. There is also a small museum dealing with the history of the town.

Bad Dürrheim (Low Alemannic: Diirä) is a town in the district of Schwarzwald-Baar, in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is situated east of the Black Forest, 8 km north of Donaueschingen, and 6 km southeast of Villingen. From 1951 until 1978, Bad Dürrheim was a location of a broadcasting transmitter for mediumwave.
