Johnsonburg was a railroad station and was one of the three original stations on the Lackawanna Cut-Off in northwestern New Jersey. Built by contractor Hyde, McFarlan & Burke, the station opened in 1911. Located on the western end of Ramsey Fill in rural Frelinghuysen Township, the station generated only modest passenger and freight business for the railroad. As a result, it was closed in 1940. The station was temporarily reopened in 1941 to serve as a command post for the clearing of the landslide that took place within nearby Armstrong Cut. After the closing of the station building, Johnsonburg continued to be a flag stop on the Cut-Off until the 1960s. A creamery was built by the railroad at the station site and operated for a number of years. In the early 1990s, the station building was rehabilitated by Jerry Turco, who owned the Cut-Off from 1985–2001, after the line had been abandoned by Conrail. But the isolated building was subject to vandalism, and in 2007, Johnsonburg station was demolished by the state of New Jersey.

Greendell station

Greendell is one of three original railway stations built by the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad (DL&W) along its Lackawanna Cut-Off line in northwestern New Jersey. The station, which still stands in Green Township at milepost 57.61 on the Cut-Off, began operations on December 23, 1911, one day before the line itself opened and the first revenue train arrived. Contractor Walter H. Gahagan built the station building and its signal tower, called "GD tower" after its telegraph call letters. The facility controlled a somewhat elaborate 4-mile (6.4 km) siding with multiple switching points, built to accommodate freight traffic on the railroad's double-track main line. Located about midway between Slateford Junction and Port Morris Junction and a few miles east of the ruling grade on the Cut-Off, the siding allowed slow freights to pull off the main line and wait for faster trains to pass. Initially called Greensville, the station was renamed Greendell in October 1916. As time went on, its modest passenger patronage relegated the station to a flag stop: most trains skipped it and stopped at Blairstown station on the Cut-Off instead. Finally, the station closed in 1938.The Lackawanna vied for Green Township's freight business (mostly related to farming and agriculture), with the Lehigh & Hudson River Railway, which had arrived some three decades earlier. As business declined during the 1930s, the tower was closed — either on January 8, 1932, or March 10, 1935; company records conflict — and its functions transferred to Port Morris Tower. The Greendell station, however, continued to serve freight customers. In anticipation of its 1960 merger with the Erie Railroad, the Lackawanna single-tracked the Cut-Off in 1958, but retained the siding to keep some operational flexibility. In the mid-1960s, as fewer and fewer trains were being run over the Cut-Off by the Erie Lackawanna, Greendell Siding was cut to about 1.5 miles (2.4 km): about the length of the longest freight trains being run at the time. The railroad ended passenger service on the Cut-Off on January 6, 1970, but freight traffic revived. Greendell Siding survived until Conrail finally ended rail service on the Cut-Off in late 1978. The final freight shipment to a customer on the Cut-Off was delivered by Conrail to Greendell. The tracks were removed from the Cut-Off by Conrail in 1984. As of 2023, the station building has been secured. The Lackawanna Cut-Off Historical Committee, a New Jersey-based historical group, is raising funds to restore the station building and surrounding site. As of 2024, the station is fenced off by the state government with "No Trespassing" signs and video surveillance warnings. The station can no longer be used to enter the Lackawanna Cutoff to the east. Service along the Cut-Off is being partially restored, with NJ Transit service from Andover to New York City projected to start by late 2026 or early 2027. Amtrak has also proposed to extend service along the Cut-Off to Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Stillwater Cemetery

Stillwater Cemetery is a burial ground located in the village of Stillwater in Stillwater Township, Sussex County, New Jersey in the United States. The cemetery has been in use for over 260 years. The earliest burials are recorded to have taken place in the 1740s following shortly after the first settlement of this area by Palatine Germans in the middle of the 18th century. These early German graves are noted for their intricately carved headstones and footstones which feature unique German funerary symbolism and in many instances, archaic German text.The cemetery was also the location of the first two buildings to house the Stillwater Presbyterian Church which in its early years was first a union church serving both the Lutheran and German Reformed faiths. During the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, it was known as the "Dutch Meeting House". It is presumed that the first structure used by this congregation was a rudimentary church made of logs, dating from as early as 1745 to 1750. Subsequently, a second structure built from local fieldstone was erected 1769–1771. This stone church structure was used by the congregations from 1771 to 1837 when it was abandoned for a Greek Revival frame structure built a quarter mile north from this site. The fieldstone structure was razed in 1847 and according to local tradition the stones from the building's walls were used to construct a stone wall along the cemetery's southern and western perimeter. A stone carved with the year "1771"—believed to be the original cornerstone for the church—was incorporated into the cemetery's gate.

The Great Meadows Regional School District is a regional public school district in Warren County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, that serves students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade from Independence and Liberty townships. The New Jersey Superior Court, Appellate Division blocked a 2007 effort by Liberty Township to leave the Great Meadows district based on Liberty's greater share of district costs, with the court citing the inability of the two communities to provide an efficient education separately.As of the 2021–22 school year, the district, comprised of two schools, had an enrollment of 643 students and 59.2 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 10.9:1.The district was classified by the New Jersey Department of Education as being in District Factor Group "GH", the third-highest of eight groupings.
