Piz Polaschin

Lej da la Tscheppa is a lake above Sils Maria, in the Engadine valley of the Grisons, Switzerland. Its surface area is 7.96 ha (19.7 acres) at an elevation of 2616 m. It used to be fed by water from the Crasta-Tscheppa Glacier (melted in 2003).

The Julier Pass (Romansh: Pass dal Güglia, German: Julierpass, Italian Passo del Giulia) (el. 2284 m) is a mountain pass in Switzerland, in the Albula Alps. It connects the Engadin valley with central Graubünden, the nearest inhabited localities on its approaches being Silvaplana and Bivio. At its summit, the pass crosses the watershed / drainage divide between the basins of the rivers Rhine and Danube. The Julier Pass lies between Piz Lagrev and Piz Julier. A few metres south of the summit is the small lake Lej da las Culuonnas.Remains of a Roman temple and cart tracks were found and illustrate its importance in Roman times. The road constructed in the 1820s to replace the old Septimer Pass was well built and is still easily passable after moderate widening for normal cars and trucks. In some parts, areas were rebuilt in 2009 to reduce the number of serpentine turns. Winter use requires winter tires, as well as snow chains in extremely poor weather. The Julier Pass is one of the three paved road passes connecting the Engadin with the northern Grisons, the two other being the Albula Pass and the Flüela Pass.

Piz Albana (3,100 m) is a mountain of the Albula Alps, overlooking Champfèr in the canton of Graubünden. It lies east of Piz Julier, on the range north of the Julier Pass.

Sils im Engadin/Segl (German: Sils im Engadin; Romansh ), often also as Sils i.E./Segl, is a municipality and village in the Maloja Region, Upper Engadine in the Swiss canton of the Grisons. It consists of two villages, Segl Maria (Romansh, German: Sils Maria; Seglias is part of Segl Maria) and Segl Baselgia (German: Sils Baselgia; Baselgia is Romansh for church); the Val Fex (German: Fextal); and three Maiensässe (Alpine pastures traditionally used for spring grazing): Grevasalvas, Blaunca and Buaira, above Plaun da Lej on the left side of the valley.

Piz Julier (German, Romansh: Piz Güglia) is a mountain of the Albula Alps, overlooking the Julier Pass, in the Swiss canton of Graubünden. With a height of 3,380 metres above sea level, Piz Julier is the second highest peak (after Piz Calderas) of the group between the Julier Pass and the Albula Pass. Piz Julier can be summited by experienced hikers. From the heights of St. Moritz, a trail leads to Fuorcla Albana (2,870 metres), the pass between Piz Julier and Piz Albana. From there a via ferrata, named Senda Enferrada leads to the summit.

Piz Lagrev is a mountain of the Albula Alps, overlooking Lake Sils in the Swiss canton of Graubünden. On its northern side lies the Julier Pass. Reaching a height of 3,165 metres (10,384 feet) above sea level, Piz Lagrev is the culminating point of the range lying between the Septimer Pass and the Julier Pass. Northeast of Piz Lagrev is a small glacier named Vadret Lagrev and an unnamed lake at its bottom.

The Nietzsche-Haus is a house in Sils Maria in the Engadin region of Switzerland, where the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche lived during the summers of 1881 and from 1883 to 1888.

Chaviolas is an island in Lake Sils, located in the canton of Graubünden. It is the largest islands in Lake Sils, the second largest being located 100 metres (330 feet) west. The island has a maximum length of 120 metres (390 feet) and a maximum width of 55 metres (180 feet) and includes a 40-metre (130-foot) triangular bay on its northern side. Its highest point is 1,809 metres (5,935 feet) above sea level or 12 metres (39 feet) above lake level (1,797 metres or 5,896 feet), making it among the highest islands in Switzerland and in the Alps. Its surface is entirely wooded. The island lies in the bay south of the peninsula of Chastè, about 200 metres (660 feet) from the shore. Politically the island belongs to the municipality of Sils im Engadin/Segl in the district of Maloja.

Lake Silvaplana (German: Silvaplanersee; Romansh: Lej da Silvaplauna) is a lake in the Upper-Engadine valley of Grisons, Switzerland. It takes its name from the village of Silvaplana. The lake is also connected to the nearby Lej da Champfèr. Together with its larger neighbour, Lake Sils, it is among the largest lakes of the Grisons. Lake Silvaplana is overlooked by several mountains over 3,000 metres, notably Piz Corvatsch, Piz Julier and Piz Surlej. The lake's drainage basin culminates at Piz Corvatsch (3,451 m) and comprises several glaciers, the largest being the Vadret dal Tremoggia. A campsite is located on the Northern end of the lake. The lake is also used heavily for sports, such as kitesurfing and windsurfing in the summertime. In the winter, once the lake freezes, it is used for cross country skiing, walking trails, and kitesurfing on snow, with the famous Engadin Skimarathon crossing the lake annually. The rare occasion of black ice also brings ice skaters to the lake. In Ecce Homo, Friedrich Nietzsche recounts the moment he first conceived his idea of the Eternal Recurrence while walking through the woods beside Lake Silvaplana in August 1881.

The Via Alpina is a network of five long-distance hiking trails across the alpine regions of Slovenia, Austria, Germany, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Italy, France, and Monaco. The longest of trails is the red trail, whose termini are in Trieste and Monaco. The Via Alpina was created by a group of public and private organisations from the 8 Alpine countries in 2000, receiving EU funding from 2001 until 2008. It was initiated by the Association Grande Traversée des Alpes in Grenoble, which hosted the Via Alpina international secretariat until January 2014, when it was transferred to the International Commission for the Protection of the Alps CIPRA (Liechtenstein). There are national secretariats (hosted by public administrations or hiking associations) in each country. Its aim is to support sustainable development in remote mountain areas and promote the Alpine cultures and cultural exchanges.

Silvaplana (Romansh: ) is a municipality in the Maloja Region in the Swiss canton of Graubünden and the name of a lake in the municipality.

Isola is a village in Maloja, Graubünden, Switzerland. It is located on the shores of Lake Sils at the end of Val Fedoz.
