East Lambrook Manor

East Lambrook is an English village situated in the civil parish of Kingsbury Episcopi, within the South Somerset district of Somerset. It is noted particularly for its manor gardens.

The Anglican Church of St James in East Lambrook, Kingsbury Episcopi, Somerset, England was built in the 12th century. It is a Grade II* listed building.

Coke Memorial Methodist Church is a former Methodist church in South Petherton, Somerset, England. Designed by Alexander Lauder, it was built in 1881-82 and has been a Grade II listed building since 1988. It closed as a place of worship in 2023.

South Petherton is a large village and civil parish in the South Somerset district of Somerset, England, located 5 miles (8 km) east of Ilminster and 5 miles (8 km) north of Crewkerne. The parish had a population of 3,737 in 2021 and includes the smaller village of Over Stratton and the hamlets of Compton Durville, Drayton, Wigborough and Yeabridge. The River Parrett forms the eastern boundary of the parish. The village is approximately 2 miles (3 km) from East Lambrook, Martock and Lopen. The village is distinctive for the traditional hamstone construction of many of its buildings. In 2005 South Petherton was awarded ‘Somerset Village of the Year’ in a national competition. Historically South Petherton was a market town, but these days is regarded as a village, with many of its ancient functions including the holding of a market having ended by around 1870, although some town-like characteristics remain.

The Church of St Peter and St Paul is the Church of England parish church for the village of South Petherton, Somerset, England. The present church is a large and imposing cruciform-shaped structure constructed on the site of an earlier Saxon Minster, with the majority of the building dating from the 13th to 15th centuries; consequently, the building is Grade I listed.The church is notable for its Gothic architecture, stained glass windows, monuments and rare octagonal central tower, reputed to be the tallest of its kind in Britain.

Kingsbury Episcopi is a village and civil parish on the River Parrett in Somerset, England, situated 9 miles (14.5 km) north west of Yeovil in the South Somerset district. The village has a population of 1,307. The parish includes the villages of West Lambrook, East Lambrook and Thorney.

The Parrett Iron Works was a series of industrial buildings next to the River Parrett, near Martock, Somerset, England. The site was originally named Carey's Mill, which had been used in the production of snuff, and the adjoining bridge is called Carey's Mill Bridge which was built of Ham stone in the 18th century. The sluice which powered the waterwheel and sluice keepers cottage still exist.Carey's mill was unoccupied in 1853 but by 1857 had been bought by the West of England Engineering and Coker Canvas Company, who built the mill which included a foundry, with a prominent chimney, a large workshop, and several smaller workshops and cottages. They produced horizontal, high pressure and condensing engines for mining companies traction engines, threshing machines, water wheels, corn mills, flax and spinning machinery, power looms and iron and wooden wheels. In 1866 a new power loom shed was opened, but by 1869 the company had gone into liquidation. It was taken over by William Sibley's West of England Engineering Company, who lasted until the 1920s. Some buildings were taken over by G H Smith, makers of rope and twine in a ropewalk, workshops and chimneywere still operating in 1941.In 1974 the premises were held by the West of England Warehouses and also used by the Somervale Foods and Somerset Joinery.

The Church of St Martin in Kingsbury Episcopi, Somerset, England, dates from the 14th century and has been designated as a Grade I listed building.The church, dedicated to Saint Martin of Tours, stands on the site of an earlier Saxon church of which no trace remains and boasts an ornate Somerset Tower, 99 feet (30 m) tall, made of stone from nearby Ham Hill. There is a four-bay aisled nave. Pevsner describes the chancel and chapels of the church as "gloriously lit" and advises visiting on a fine morning. He writes that the nave is older than the rest of the church, "no doubt of before 1400, and not yet infected with the later exuberance" of the Late Perpendicular style of the tower and other parts of St Martin's. Poyntz Wright suggests the 100 feet (30 m) high west tower was built in 1515.The four-stage tower is supported by buttresses and has bands of blank quatrefoils, and is surmounted by battlements with pinnacles.The church was renovated between 1845 and 1849.The parish is part of the benefice of Kingsbury Episcopi, East Lambrook and Hambridge within the deanery of Crewkerne and Ilminster.

Burrow Hill Cider Farm is a cider farm in Somerset, England at the base of Burrow Hill overlooking the Somerset Levels. It has views of most of South Somerset on clear days. The cider is made in traditional vats and uses age old traditional methods of production. Every October is "Apple Day" when the apples are harvested from locally owned orchards. In 2003 the company won the NFU Great British Food Award.

West Moor (grid reference ST420220) is a 213.0 hectare (526.3 acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest on the River Parrett in Somerset, notified in 1985. West Moor lies south of Curry Rivel, Langport, and Drayton, and northwest of Kingsbury Episcopi and is part of the extensive grazing marsh grasslands and ditch systems of the Somerset Levels and moors. The site contains some of the most diverse aquatic plant communities in the country. Rhynes often have a rich aquatic flora Frogbit (Hydrocharis morsus-ranae). A rich invertebrate fauna, with many nationally and locally rare species is associated with the botanical diversity of the ditches.

Over Stratton is a small village in the district of South Somerset, Somerset, England. It is part of the parish of South Petherton along with the nearby hamlets of Lower Stratton, Wigborough, Yeabridge, Drayton and Watergore. As of census day 2011, the population was 317.Towards the north end of the village, Stratton & District Village Hall provides an amenity for the local residents and hosts community events such as coffee mornings. It also hosts a nursery for pre-school age children. In the centre of the village there are two hospitality-related businesses: a public house with a restaurant (the Royal Oak), and a restaurant that also has rooms for bed and breakfast (New Farm). A third hospitality-related enterprise is situated at the southern edge of the village on the road to Merriott. It holds occasional feasts, approximately once a month.The village also has a Methodist church but services are no longer held there. There is a blacksmith's forge on a side track leading off Bull Bridge Lane.

The Treasurer's House is a National Trust-owned property in Martock, in the English county of Somerset. It has been designated as a Grade I listed building. Apart from the Bishop's Palace, Wells it is the oldest house in the county. The original 13th-century buildings have been added to several times, including a 15th-century great hall which has an arch-braced-collar truss roof. Several of the rooms have wall paintings which have been uncovered and restored since the National Trust were given the building in 1970. The house belonged to the Bishop of Bath and Wells and at one time was used to store the Great Seal of the Realm when John Langton was the chancellor of England.
